Chennai Egmore Railway Station को भारतीय रेलवे redevelope करने जा रही है 842 करोड़ रुपए की लागत से इस स्टेशन को एयरपोर्ट की तर्ज पर बनाया जाएगा रेलवे के अधिकारियों के मुताबिक Chennai Egmore रेलवे स्टेशन को हेरिटेज का दर्जा प्राप्त है लिहाजा स्टेशन रीडिवेलपमेंट के बाद भी हेरिटेज एरिया को जस का तस रखा जाएगा

Siddharthji, this Heritage building with these 3 platforms structurals b left alone. As u have rightly pointed out this is one of the rare few surviving IndoSarcenic structures of the world.
All the so called modern aminities will fade in another 5 years due to lack of maintenance, poor patronage and better facilities available elsewhere. I dont understand the stupid logic of mall & cine plex inside a railway station, it is just in favour of contract, commission & corruption allaround. JaiHind 🙏

Are you aware that London has heritage Railway stations like Paddington, Euston and St Pancras which have been redeveloped into modern stations and also retained the heritage aspect. Aap kis type ke Tamilian ho jo Chennai ka modern city mein parivartan nahi chahta hai. Oru modern station le thappe ella .

This was the only electrified Metre Gauge Main line Terminal till 2000 when gauge conversion changed it into a Broad gauge. I remember visiting this station in my childhood to look at the Japanese YAM1 Metre gauge AC locomotives.
