Thank you Paul for your honest review. It's a good idea but, like with their PowerShot SX70, Canon have dropped the ball with image quality. Suprising because their older 12MP cameras like the PowerShot SX50 and SX240 had good image quality for small sensor cameras. I hope Canon bring out a new versions of this Zoom and the SX70 with better image quality. I'm in need of a new bridge camera :)
At first I was intrigued, then somewhat disappointed but you know, I kinda see a use for it, if you're just walking to and from locations looking for actual photography opportunities, and you just stumble onto something new or neat, it could be a decent way to record at least an ID-worthy image of it. That being said, I'm uninformed about this equipment niche, so there might be a more affordable option out there - either way, I don't think I'd buy it as is. Thanks for the honest review!
Thanks for giving an honest review on this camera. If it were half the cost, even the refurbished from Canon isn't cheap enough for the quality, it might be kind of fun to have. The problem is that you can get a really cheap little spotting scope that will fit in your pocket, my wife was given one, that you can use with your cellphone to get better images.
Looks like a mildly novel gimmick but I'll stick to my DSLR for photos or video and my binoculars for viewing, no matter how much heavier they are. In interesting review though, thank you.
Good honest review. Could you recommend a good pocket size camera for when I’m out walking the dogs. Because it’s to much walking dogs and carrying my Nikon ?
Hi there. I'm afraid I don't really know enough about that type of camera. There are some reasonable compacts about there. I used to use a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-WX500 for vlogging and my thumbnail pictures - wasn't too bad
Bonjour Paul merci pour cette présentation ! je cherche des jumelles pour l’observation des oiseaux ( en camargue france) budget 350/400€ avez vous des modèles à me conseiller ?
I like the form factor and overall idea, but after watching bunch of reviews (your included) decided it's not worth it.... Also interestingly enough - this thing is more than 3 years old, and I see Canon starting pushing a little bit, probably to sell everything that's remaining
At over £200 I think I could find something better to spend my money on and stick to my bins for spotting birds. Clearly it’s no match for a DSLR never mind a mirrorless camera. Thanks for the interesting review, I’m sure it might suit some people though.
I bought that thing. Real POC. Keep your money.

Thanks for the video.
I will say a good option for exploring and taking record shots.
Great review Paul love your complete honesty 👏👏
Cheers Paul. I try!

This is what it seems to be designed for: Replacing spotting scopes & binoculars.
My dad would have absolutely loved this! Would have lived in his buffalo coat all year 😅
My new street photography camera

can you suggest the model or brand of spotting scope for phone, please?
Maybe handy for my bikepacking adventures, zoom seems better than my smartphone
Thanks for the honest opinion, won't be buying one.

Good review Paul. Like most things it has it's uses.
I had to check my calendar to verify that it wasn't April Fool's Day. You did the best job you could have with it though.
Lol! Thanks for the feedback.
Thanks, Paul!

Should also say zoom wouldn’t be needed

Good to see you again. Even on my brief look through it, the 800mm seemed very poor. Similar quality to some of my pictures.😂😂
You too. Yes, it's pretty bad!

Very good and useful review !! Thx ++ !!
👍
Seems like it was focussing on the background quite a lot too
At times ,yes.
I bought a Sony hx400v for spotting and super zoom id a lot cheaper and reasonable image quality in bright light , no raw but still does the job

I understand. I'd say this is pretty good for recording and identifying. And maybe to snap some pics for your own memory.
@@PaulMiguelPhotographyOf course, I understand the point you make.
COOL !!
I thought I was watching a golf UA-cam video at first thought it was a range finder. Looks ok
It's not great for image or video quality, but for spotting, not bad, quite useful. And the 800mm is great for getting a close up view.
Probably alternative to taking a scope
This is much more portable than binoculars or spotting scopes.
Used one it was a complete piece of junk and thats me giving it a plus and I'm a canon user, i will stick with the R6 lol thanks for you review Paul.
Thanks for sharing. I appreciate your honesty.
Thanks, this review is very helpful. Now I know. This device is not for me.
This needs more pixels and a removable battery.
A great concept, poorly implemented?
