I was in the same church of friend who play church drams needed help to continue school after jhs graduation but the church refuse. Sense then I became a Muslim
Matthew 25: 35, Christ entreats us to take care of the needy.
Christ fed 5000 people when they had followed him and then he realized that they were hungry. If it had been some of these our Ghanaian pastors, they would have given the food their closest of circles.
What called for the appointment of deacons in the church? Acts 7 made it clear that such position was created so that they can take care (spiritually and materially) of the widow and needy.
To even go very backwards, when Moses was traveling with the Israelite, God sustained them by feeding them and then ensuring that they do not lack materially.
When there was so much hunger in Israel, God used lepers to gather food for the nation.
I keep saying that majority of our African pastors are self-centered and wicked. I don't blame them because we the followers have refused to study the word God. Read Acts 17 vs 10 to 14. It is not a sin to question practices done in the name of God when you personally know that the word of God does not say it that way.
Christians should be extremely vigilant of these self seekers.

They don't know the purpose of a church. They should read Act of Apostles and know how the disciples started the early church. The disciples started the early church at the time they think they should organize themselves and help the poor and the needy. So a church is an organization of helping those in need. And now a days a church can be defined as someone's business to gain money. I will stay home if I know God I know him in my heart and gives my offerings to the poor.

My mum was the biggest donator in church 1000's of cedis every Sunday when she got seriously ill. Non of the church elders even came to check on her. Her illness almost made her go bankrupt and still the church did nothing. I'm not spending a dime on a church

Yes..... The tithe/offering is not for taking care of people in the church. The members of the church can come together to help within the church. So they may raise some other funds for that purpose, But for people's offering and tithe, it's for God and God Only and his work.
If there's a church that the Pastors help, it's good and from the individual in most cases. Some churches also have funds in place to assist the needy. But that money is not from their offering/tithe.
So what exactly is “God and God Only and his work”?
