Walked these streets and alleyways so many times and never tired of the this historic and beautiful area. I retired to the milder weather of California, but my heart and soul will always be back home in Boston.
I live here. My parents met here. It’s cold and dreary in the winter, but such is the Northeast. I like how it’s small and manageable enough as a community, and I bump into familiar faces every couple days. A major difference from the Back Bay is that there is less through traffic, in addition to being a more tightly packed, smaller function town-like place. Charles Street has a hardware store and a few bodegas. There’s a pizza place and a liquor store, as well as 2-3 convenience stores literally on the Hill. There are local pubs surrounding the Hill on each side. I ought to mention that Beacon Hill is often referred to as the Hill. It’s also just 10-15 minutes walk to Chinatown, 5 minutes to the Common/Garden, 5 minutes to the River/esplanade Park, and this is very central while also closing down at night. After 8pm things are quiet! But you can walk 10-15 minutes to decent nightclubs and bars. You’ve also got the green line, red line and blue line within 5 minutes walk. So you can be anywhere in the city without a car, for the price of a $2.75 subway ticket.
Lucas Martin if you want a normal amount of living space, yes. If you are okay with older, european-size apartments, and smaller - such as those found in the older parts of Lower Manhattan, then you will find that you can live adequately for a price that is very similar to most parts of central Boston. In short, not cheap, quite expensive, BUT there are hundreds of rental apartments for students that are modest and one can find a room for $1,000 per month, and a studio for as low as $1,700 per month. During Covid this has dropped to closer to $1,400. Cheaper than the historic/central/affluent areas of NYC, SF, London, but with reasonable amenities to be considered a world class or destination neighborhood, along with culture, history, and charm. There’s also Boston’s “Central Park” (Boston Common & Public Garden), as well as the well-manicured and long-stretching river park (Charles River Esplanade) bordering this neighborhood, which gives you direct and fairly rare access to pleasant and well-kept nature areas. The front or “Flat” of the Hill (South Slope) is very pricey, while the back (North Slope) more affordable. If I had to compare it to a neighborhood in the US, I would say that it is a slice of the lower east side in NYC combined with a slice of Greenwich Village. Parts of the South Slope remind me of Notting Hill. I wish it were bigger! But then again, it rolls into the Back Bay, which rolls into the South End, so plenty of styled, older, brick buildings in the area, if Victorian architecture is your thing.
Best thing about this loveliest of American neighborhoods...the unending peace and quiet! Plus, that charming old-world colonial architecture. Beacon Hill, you get my vote for Best Neighborhood in America! Thank you, Thrive by Travel.
Nice Job 📹📹 felt like I was Right there with ya ...Lived on Newbury street for 10 yrs during the 70's ...My old stomping grounds ...thanks for the Flashbacks 📹🙏🙌❤
some of those streets in Beacon Hill and the North End are so narrow it’s a wonder they allow street parking, or even allow cars on them at all in some cases. There’s this street I saw in the North End that’s literally like 5 feet wide and when cars drive on it, their wheels are up on the sidewalks because the actual paved part of the street is so narrow
I travel too beacon, hill long times ago..I saw interesting things..bldg, states, too..and finally I saw a bldg, a university, Harvard univer...the prestitgous,.. this the University I all the times reads and talks about..
i used to live on Acorn St. I wish there had been some sort of narration so people would know what they are seeing. The shots are quite good, but ultimately boring
I know nothing about Boston but I'm willing to bet that the people living in this neighborhood have to be paying through the nose for these apartments.
hello, if anyone can kindly contact me through watssap I will be very satisfied, I am a foreigner and I intend to make a film there in Boston in the future, my story is emblematic !, if some people who live in this place want to put the number to contact me will facilitate in the yield of my work, I am not obliged but it would be necessary for me to know a bit of the region, (notice) only Beacon Hills information ok !.
I am a renowned filmmaker because of the knowledge I have seen in many North American movies, I quote some of my great preference and I am sure some will know, Sidney Lumet, William Friendkin, Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, John Carpeter, Orson Welles, Francis Ford Coppola and so on, I intended to create a movie in Boston to strengthen the advertising of the city to get more attractiveness !, so I need help in my work, I want someone who lives in Beacon Hills to contact me for me to know how the locality is !, and also due to the help of this person and others I intend to bring a reward later to those who
Boston with Montreal and Quebec city seems to have a genuine history area full of charm.

Like Montréal Canada it is one of the rare city to have a real historical area. loved it .
Beautiful place to live thank you for a video
I just fall in love with this neighboorhood.
Wonderful virtual walking tour in a really magnificent area, thanks for sharing! It calms me down after a long workday! :)
Me too, Thanks!

When they show the robbers being chased by police in “The Town” through those narrow streets in the North End, it’s extremely nerve wracking
best part of the city!
Amazing
Best place in the whole world! Wish I had a home here :(
Que lugar tan bello
Reminds me of the French Quarter in New Orleans.
Awesome video and look like...👌👌

It reminds me a bit of Brooklyn Heights but with smaller streets.
Boston is one of the most beautiful cities around. Too bad the traffic is horrendous.
This reminds me a little of New Castle, Delaware.
Delaware i visit thats states, is so boredom is any thing too..do there..no pub or night clubs,
i used to live on Acorn St. I wish there had been some sort of narration so people would know what they are seeing. The shots are quite good, but ultimately boring
The states of Massachusetts, commonwealth, is so costly..you visit there's or moved there's there..is a higher class, standard living..
I wish I was rich...
@ТЕМНЫЙ РОМАНТИК В ПОИСКАХ $$$$$$$$
So goood
😀😀😀
👍
I know nothing about Boston but I'm willing to bet that the people living in this neighborhood have to be paying through the nose for these apartments.
These apartments start at over a million but these along with the brownstones in Back Bay typically trend closer to 5-7 million.
You have no idea .. helped build a penthouse on Marlborough st and it sold for $15 million
It's 1200 per sq/ft at the time of this video
Unless you are a blueblood or make very high six figures, it is untouchable.
