I listened to this when I was in a jeepney back home. Kuya driver played this song and might have been in a relationship but on the rocks. I felt the very intention of the song, and I felt that I was the one being sung for in the lyrics. I have not been in a relationship. But even if you are or are not in a relationship, you would feel the song and its theme about loving someone unconditionally. You invest to someone you love. You give your all but it ends up that all things aren't coming into place; and that someone may not reciprocate the feeling that you are feeling for him or her - unrequited love, that is.
What I have taken away from the song is that we also need to invest love within ourselves. Let's not deprive ourselves love, and we should give love that's enough. Hindi nakakasakal. Not toxic, but liberating. ♥️
