YOM KIPPUR: The Happiest Day of the Year - with Rabbi Michael Skobac of Jews for Judaism. Because Yom Kippur is a day of fasting, we don't eat or drink for 25 hours, many people mistakenly assume that the mood of the day is sad and mournful. In fact, Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement is a supremely joyous and uplifting day. This lecture explores some of the reasons for this positive view of Yom Kippur and why many people who understand this end the fast with joyous dancing. The fasting on Yom Kippur has no association with mourning, and the presentation seeks to understand the true nature for not eating on this holy day.

The idea of ''Its NOT me', unbeknown to me - saved my life 35 years ago when one morning I woke up and found my self saying to myself - Tbis is NOT who I am! Thank You Rabbi. Now I know where It came from.

Last year was the first and only time I've been to synagogue (it's a 60 minute drive to the nearest one), and I cried harder than I ever had in my entire life.. it was really embarrassing! However, it was the most spiritual moment of my life. I hope I can go this year, but I don't think I will make it.. besides, I still feel embarrassed a year later.

Don't be embarrassed by crying in shul - especially on the High Holidays. The Almighty cherishes our tears and any genuine emotions that we express.
Definitely try to go to synagogue when you can - hopefully others will learn from you. - Rabbi Michael Skobac

Thanks a lot brother for your exelent explanation. Please clarify the difference between passover and the day of atonement, what are the difference between these festivals. Because Christianity has made a huge confusion between it. A humble request to explain in short . Is the day of atonement celebrated for forgiveness of sins.

Yom Kippur is the Day of Atonement for Jews. Passover is our celebration of the historic event of the Jews, as a nation of over 3 million people, being redeemned from Egypt,, over 3,300 years ago. Passover has absolutely nothing to do with the forgiveness of sins.
