Hey buddy, 95% of your $4k+ is self inflicted! They were damage’s you caused, and it seems the other was covered by Tesla. So basically there’s not much of cost besides washer, breaks etc. which is minimal.
Some people seeking to compare Tesla (EV) maintenance to that of ICE cars might be misled by one point, so let's clarify: replacing your front bumper surface after it is impaled by a yard sign is not considered routine EV maintenance. 😁
Seems Tesla unable to produce quality products. Every months you have been facing various issues with Tesla. In last 10 years of leasing (BWM, Volvo, Lexus) we had not spent a single dollar on these vehicles. Only expenses we pay is petroleum. No wonder people avoid Teslas as plague.
Alex: Good information! Three things: - I currently have about 45,000 miles; thinking about purchasing the extended warranty. - Wished I had bought better tires 20,000 miles back. The Goodyear tires are so noisy now. - The damage you had from the blowing sign should have been covered by the comprehensive portion of your car insurance policy. Good video! Keep us posted on your life with a Tesla.
"Had to do a decent amount to keep it up and running." Proceeds to describe having to get tires, windshield wipers, and filters. Basic consumable items. SMH
Awesomesauce Alex!! 4 years and not even 80K miles. Wait, I retract that. There was an epidemic going on during that time. Those are some normal maintenance items. Just one big question I have. When you get the wipers done, are you getting the entire wiper or just the blade? Also, what kind of windshield washing fluid do you use? Thanks for all your videos, BTW. 😊
@Sibs considering where you live. I would suggest picking up the RainX with bug shield (green color). Once your windshield gets covered (it does take a few weeks depending on usage) besides the beading of liquid, your wipers won't wear down as quickly. I have been doing this for decades. It would make for an interesting comparison video.
A colleague of mine drives a Model X and he was telling me how replacing those tires was significantly more expensive than any other vehicle he’s had. He said the car needs special tires because it’s so heavy. Having heard that, I was surprised to hear your tires didn’t strike me as much more expensive than what I’d expect. Did you pay a premium for tires that hold up to a heavier vehicle?
The tires I've purchased have all been rated for heavier load - the Model X is a bit heavier than the model 3, so hard to tell without seeing which tires they bought. Definitely paid about the same as I always have for a new set though!

Indeed! Just being transparent about everything.

I just buy the whole wiper from Tesla, that's all they sell. For washer fluid I just buy whatever is convenient, no real preference!
