  • This week we take you along the final off-road stretch of the journey between Quobba and Yardie Creek. We continue in Warroora station, which offers camping managed by National Parks, so you have to pre-book. Stevens Camp is one of the few cam
ps with snorkeling, but when we went out the current picked up pretty quickly and we decided it was better to get back to shore. We got invited to a campfire and met some new friends instead.
On the way north, we checked out Sandy Point, which is a beautiful spot if you have a boat. We camped at The Ridge, watched a beautiful sunset and had a stroll to 14 Mile, which is another wonderful spot! After that you have to head to Coral Bay and the track here is probably in the worst condition of all the tracks in Warroora.
We continued north along the tracks and made it to 9 Mile camp, which is a privately run campground. It was windy and dust blowing everywhere but we stayed, as Jele wanted to get some video editing done. The next day, we left again and hit the tracks towards the best camp spots on the Ningaloo!!
After 3 hours of corrugations, sandy bits and washouts we got to South Lefroy Bay. This is one of the best camp spots you will find anywhere! Sites 4 to 12 are literally ON the beach, and the reef is only about 50m off the shore. Snorkeling here is amazing with turtles, sharks, octopus, heaps of fish and beautiful corals. This was by far our favorite spot in this area! After a few days we headed north to Winderabandi, another beautiful camp spot. We got a bit unlucky with the wind, but still enjoyed a wonderful night here.
We tackled a little track that heads up the range for some sweet views of the bays and surrounds, and the Mog climbed up and made it look easy again. The last stretch to Yardie is through the air force testing range so camping is strictly prohibited. It’s a wonderful drive along the crystal blue water with the range building up closer and closer on the other side. Yardie Creek was dry this year, but the sandy crossing is fun nevertheless!
Our adventure is not over yet, so stay tuned for one last Episode around the Ningaloo!
Catch you all next Sunday again!!!!
PS: Please do some research before hitting the tracks, since they can change quickly and might get closed again!
