    I was just talking about those klacker ball things yesterday. How painful they were! We used to show goats at the state fair in Puyallup, yes, I was an award-winning goat showing 5 year old, and they used to give those klackers out as fair prizes for games. We showed goats all over the state, and I slept in the pen with my Melissa. So we played a lot of those fair games, and we all had huge bruised lumps all over our bodies from trying to master the klackers. And of course, my big brothers using them as flying weapons. Good times, good times. #1974

      How fun though to do that at the Puyallup! Good thing the goats and the klackers both didn't maim you lol

    The tradition of buying your kids a car at the grocery store for being good has carried on! My boys are 14 and 17 and I always did that for them when they were little 😃 It is so fun to know that people have been doing that for many many years!

    Wow!! Growing up is kids (ages 10-18), we played Jarts at all our huge family camp outs! I don’t remember anyone getting hurt, but of course, we were cautioned and supervised!! We also played a game we called “Stretch”! We each started the game by facing each other, get together, standing straight. We had an open scout knife, and reached out to the other person’s side, left or right, and threw the knife into the ground hard enough for it to stick. Wherever the knife stuck in the ground, your opponent had to stretch their leg out to the knife, and get their turn. We took turns sticking the knife in the ground until the opponent stretched so far, they fell over. Of course, the blade of the knife was in the ground. No one ever got hurt!! Again, we were well surprised, and it was loads of fun!!
    We were great kids in the 60’s, but once again, well supervised and incredibly loved!! 🥰😃❤️. Lots of great memories!!

    • @TheAntiqueNomad
      @TheAntiqueNomad  3 роки тому

      The neighbor kids all wanted to play Jarts, but their parents took them away ("they're dangerous!") so they invented a version of 'Stretch' using a screwdriver...which ended up planted in the forehead of one of the neighbor boys.

  • @eliseintheattic9697
    @eliseintheattic9697 2 роки тому +1

    Ha! Jarts and Clackers, I had them both. I think the reason you aren't very good with clackers is because you're not doing it right. You don't swing them back and forth or whirl them over your head. You bounce your hand up and down until they each swing to the opposite side and clack back together. Then when you get good at that you start going faster and they swing all the way up and clack at the top too. Which is why they were banned, because every parent wants glass balls clashing together at high speeds inches from their children's faces. It's a miracle any of us survived.

    😂😂😂😂! George, we used to camp as a huge family group all summer back in the ‘60’s! We had a couple of sets, and we had tournaments, as teenagers, for hours next to each others groups! Of course, we were always supervised, but we were also really responsible young ppl, who were aware of the danger of them! Thanks for bringing back great memories!!!

    Loved seeing the Jarts, and the Clackers. Can't tell you how many times I conked myself in the head with those!! I truly think we were tougher back in the day lol the wall pocket with the bird and the bow was sweet, and the rhinestone "Juliana"? pin was beautiful....I love vintage rhinestone pins, to me, they are miniature works of art. If the colors are right, I can forgive a missing rhinestone or two.

    Omg, this was the best haul I've ever seen. I collected Tiffin glass and had and have a bunch. I sold all my watermelon glass in the early 2000 when the prices were awesome. I love your stories. I add stories to my price tags on merchandise in my booth. I appreciate your comment about Roseville. It baffles me that people can't tell the difference between the real thing and the fakes. Well, I guess you have to see the real thing a few times. Omg, fabulous chenille. I sold one of those 20 years ago! Mine wasn't fitted at the corners. Loved the vintage toys too. Geez!!! Thank you. I just bought your dramady earrings, but... Those CLACKERS: You need to bounce them straight up and down to get them to clack sideways. Someone has probably already told you that but maybe not? :) They also look to me to be two separate sets put together... One string is longer than the other and I never saw them with two different colored balls like yours, but maybe? Anyway, equalize the string length and then just go straight up and down... You can do it!!!

      @@TheAntiqueNomad I can't remember if it was Crest or Pepsident toothpaste. But I really had to beg for it. Mothers budget was tight, but she knew that I really liked cars better than dolls ( I guess you figured out I was a tomboy ). She gave in & Daddy never found out. :~) PS. I still have that car !
