Like Nameless Ghoul said he wanted to focus on Slipknot and also it was putting a strain on his and Coreys relationship. This next part is a personally theory but i think being in stone sour in general put a strain on him in areas slipknot doesnt. If you watch videos of Jim in StoneSour vs him in Slipknot youll see hes much more confident and much more himself in Slipknot and in Stone Sour hes reserved and hiding a lot towards his cabs. That being said he couldve been dealing with a lot of mental stuff being in stone sour and it just was something he felt was getting in the way of his craft and his relationships
