Most of it is hard to sequence. You can't close the shoulders until you finish the back, but you can't finish the back until you extract the hip skirts and the chest flaps. A whole lot of things have to be "parked" along the way, which I consider to be sloppy design work.
I didn't notice the nosecone blurry thing until I read the description... so I watched it in speed run more closely. Your videos have saved me a couple of times, I appreciate it!
Perceptor: It’s all our fault we’re late, Princess Diancie. We should have met Huffer ages ago, but did you want to drive to the Kalos region? Oh, dear. We need a Concorde SST passenger jet named Silverbolt to get to the Kalos region. It’s too far away from the Unova region for us to drive.
I think some of the seemingly pointless complexity has to do with balling the thing up into a "cube mode" to install into the combiner chest. I realize that "Zeta" approach is more stable as a combiner and all, but at that point what is the point in having the torso figure be involved in the combined mode at all?
Also: If you look at the forearms, one has a slot (near the crook of the elbow) and one has a tab. So clearly the arms tab together somehow for cube mode.
@@peolesdru Strangely, I forgot to consider the need to combine - I must be getting old! I agree the Zeta approach is inelegant. I've heard people say you actually can have a stable, functional Superion without inserting the torso figure... But you need to buy their version of Silverbolt in order to get the chest pieces in the first place. Ultimately there wont ever be a universally agreed upon perfect Superion. The inconsistencies in the cartoon made sure of that. But I'm eager to see the final version of the FansToys interpretation.
Definition of insanity: I first saw (& commented) on this video several months ago yet I *still* went ahead and bought the figure for myself lol. Considering I had trouble figuring out how to correct his mistransformed robot mode straight out of the box (it came that way), I'll probably have to set aside a whole *day* if I ever get the urge to convert it to alt. mode lol.
If we're generous and say the robot mode is at least half the length of the Concorde, then Silverbolt is a sodding 30 metre tall giant. In other words. (Silverbolt). "Bumblebee! Where are y- SQUASH (Silverbolt) 😨
Concord. If it weren't for the complaints and such that jet still be flying...Or it was doomed no matter what due to all the tragic crash's. Unfortunate...Still, love seeing the concord being made as toys. =)
Videos like this convinced me to drop $180 on Roadking. Many steps, but most of them very easy and fun. THIS looks like almost the opposite in every way. Overcomplicated and inelegant. This makes me wanna buy Zeta's Silverbolt instead.
I'm judging a book by its cover. I found fanstoys to be the coolest toyline of transformers action figures of them all when takara hasn't even released the rest of their g1-based figures yet
@@lynnesauer6008 Agreed. But I prefer something more elegant than using a floppy linkage to move a part. A lot of the FT designs use this approach. Without the linkage they would be parts-formers. Utilizing such linkages only barely elevates the design above parts-forming for me. It's just my own OCD - even aside from the difficulty in filming such floppy parts, I find I enjoy figures more when at any point during the transformation the figure is still solid and nothing is flopping about so that it can be rotated and looked at at any stage.
Theoretically. The instructions don't include the combiner portion. As far as I could tell it probably turns into a cube-ish form so it can be plugged into a torso (that would be released later). It will be quite a while before FT finishes this set.
That entire transformation of the arms befuddles me. Yet somehow you manage to make this video as solid as it can be. Kudos.

Dang the amount of kibble it minimizes on is impressive
It has some clever bits, but like most FT designs it's a barely-concealed partsformer.

Glad to help, and glad it wan't too noticeable.
Dude, you are just amazing. So impressed by why you continuously put out for us fans.
Thanks! Tell your friends!

@Morgan Yael Shut up, robot!
Awesome
Name: Silverbolt. Faction: Autobot. Function: Aerialbot leader. Vehicle mode: Concorde SST passenger jet. Subgroup: Aerialbots. Motto:” Don’t look down, look straight ahead.”

Easily your best sign-off to date.
While the end result is amazing, I can't help but feel that this figure has been made way more complicated than it needed to be.

Hasbro does a much better job of including the "how to get it from packing mode to robot mode" instructions at the beginning of their manuals.
Easily the best looking jet for Silverbolt ever. Robot mode looks great too.
In-between he looks like a kitchen junk drawer.
@@peolesdru XD so true!
Jesus, this thing looks like absolutely no fun to handle... how you kept your sanity filming this, I have no idea!
Wasn't easy. Lots of rig removal in post.
What's the point in a complex transformation if you're not even going to get rid of the blasted undercarriage?

Heh. They've never been great with scale in that series.
@@peolesdru they used mass shifting possibly
@@peolesdru luckily they've started to fix in that in later cartoons. I mean in the latest two, Astro-Train is Gigantic!

Your videos are always so cool and fun to watch. Keep It up m8!

@@lynnesauer6008 The floppy linkages.
@@peolesdru that doesn't bother me. they help the shoulders get to their places without partsforming like you say the g1 figure does

All those armatures, that's cheating!
Would be so bad if they had any friction to them. May as well use a string.
That must’ve been a huge pain in the ass to film
Don't even get me started!
