  • The TDR Kotelnikov Mastering and Bus compresser is a wonderful sounding and flexible compresser. Although it may look rather daunting to a beginner, in this video I explain what all the controls do and how to get up and running quite quickly.
    Key specs and features
-64bit multi-rate processing structure for highest accuracy
-“Delta” oversampled signal path (bit transparent at 0dB gain reduction)
-Super fast, yet natural sounding compression
-“Crest factor” based control scheme offering independent release controls for peak and RMS events
    -Flexible sidechain highpass filter
-Advanced stereo linking options optimized for the stereo bus
-Delta preview mode previews the difference between compressed and original signal
-Latency compensated, click free bypass (i.e. processing never interrupted)
    -User interface rescaling (100%, 125%, 150%)
    Enjoy

Great video. I use and like this compressor - I think TDR should win an award for their design sense. The way they make a really feature-rich device actually quite intuitive by the layout of buttons, putting main functions on bigger knobs, in a logical order across the unit etc, is really helpful. Some GUIs look cool but are harder to get used to.

Totally agree. Have you tried the TDR Molotok yet? Give it a try I think you'll like it. Thanks for watching.

Notice that "Stereo Sensitivity" isn't really a Stereo Link control, it's actually a volume fader for the Side channel that goes into the detector. The higher this control is, the more of the Sides the detector listens to, but the Mid channel is always at the same level. The thing is, Kotelnikov never unlinks the Left and Right channels, unless you use it only on the Left or Right.
