    I use tracing paper to prevent transfer, but it's so important to photograph art as you go. Sketchbooks are messy and I've had so many accidents, once I had metallic watercolour reactivate whilst in a closed book on the shelf 😮

      Totally agree, photographing as you go makes a big difference! Wow that's so interesting about the watercolour!! I wonder if it was reactivated by heat or something! 😱

    I’m an impatient artist too, and I work fairly fast so it’s important to have what you need ready to grab. Plus it looks so good, I love looking at them. It makes me feel like there is so much potential waiting.

      That's such a great way of looking at it - the possibilities and potential! I find I get frustrated if I have to spend ages to set up first and if I feel like drawing I have to jump on that and go for it! 😃 Glad you can relate!

    Great video! I love the idea of using the tear-off palette for collage once you’re done with it! I’m going to start saving my now…thank you for the idea! ❤

      Thank you so much, and you're welcome! It gives the palette paper some lovely textures too which is great for extra interest in collage! 😊

    smart choices katie... ii tend to keep supplies in original packaging as my art space is small & pieces are small-ish too, so stacking upwards is convenient. seems ii have a stash of clear cosmetic go bags that corrale things ii love. clips, rubber bands, invisible tape, glue sticks & post it pads for notes of when & what ii used helps me see progress over time. somehow ii developed a sharpeners collection that must be akin to pen & pencil addiction...totally awesomely ridunculous...thx for sharing.

      Thank you! 💜 That makes sense, and having them in clear bags is a great idea too! I have a drawer that I just throw small bits into and it's a right mess 🙈 Haha the sharpeners collection made me laugh, but at least you have plenty for whenever you need them!! 😆

    Thank you for this video, Katie. That's a great idea about using a tear off palette for gouache. I must try it myself. I have some favourite mugs, and if a small crack or chip occurs that renders them unusable, they are 'promoted' to my art room as receptacles for pencils, brushes, etc. 😆

      Oh yes, fab idea! I know one of my pen cups has a dodgy handle but that's still a little precarious 😅 Great idea to use any chipped ones - what a great promotion they get to now hold art supplies!! 😄

    Clips are so useful so they're definitely one of my essentials too 😁. I would say my table top drawing board too as I used to get a sore back when drawing and it's much better when I use the drawing board.

    I keep my colored pencil by warm and cold colors. The green and blue are the cold ones and the yellow and red the warm ones. But for the moment they keep in one mug each. If I got a lot more pencils I will perhaps mixed them in water soluble or rough pens.

    I have started to use some drinking mugs for dry media that all have special memories but have never actually being used !
    They have been in a kitchen cupboard for 40 years….seriously !!! 😂😂🎉🎉🤭🤭

    The tear off palette could be a nice addition to my art practice. I have a few super lovely ceramic mixing palettes, which I do use with watercolour and regular gouache. That's relatively easy to wash off. But it means I never use my acryla gouache.
    An essential tool I always have within reach is a hair dryer. I tend to work fast, but also with wet media. I don't want to wait until the paint is dry, hahah. I only use a hairdryer in sketchbooks. I let 'real' artworks on loose sheets of paper dry on their own.

    • @KatieMoody
      @KatieMoody  5 місяців тому +1

      There are some really beautiful ceramic mixing palettes out there for sure! 😍 And a hairdryer is a great shout!! I got one for Christmas especially for using in my studio 😃 I'm the same, I hate waiting for things to dry 😆

    Ok saving your paper palettes for collage is genius. I have a resuable palette but now I kind of want a paper one to do the same.

      It's so handy for when I fancy some collage! And it creates some lovely unexpected texture too 😄

    Спасибо за Ваши видео! Подскажите какую гуашь Вы бы посоветовали купить Carandache или W&N?

    • @KatieMoody
      @KatieMoody  5 місяців тому +1

      They are very similar, but probably W&N would be my preference!
