Still can't. Go Daddy is now blocking me from even trying to communicate via the reply box on your website. Odd. Never experienced this before. I'm not a patreon member but will be soon!
I’ve made tons of tote bags but I never used bias binding this particular way. I just made the cutest bag using this method. It was lots of fun and I like using multiple fabrics on the outside. Thanks again.
I am so happy. I made a bag as I watched your tutorial. I’ve just finished and I couldn’t be more happy with the results. Thank you for making it so simple to make and watch ❤️❤️
I'd love to see this with a zippered pocket on the outside and a pocket and a zippered pocket of inside. Maybe even a divider that is zippered. You explain and show how to make thing better than most. I really enjoy your videos. Thanks.
Hi Whitney - I love making drop in linings and zipper panels for my tote bags. I do mine a little different so that bias binding isn’t needed for finishing off the bag. It’s finished once I sew around the top and no raw edges. Your way looks great with the bias binding. It adds a special touch to the bag. It’s just one less step and a little bit quicker for me. Love how pretty this bag turned out. Nice fabric choices! It’s always great when little ones can put things away themselves. Great job. Love it. Hugs! 🤗
I printed my pdf of yesterday and finally got a chance to sit and watch. I definitely plan on making this bag. Thank you for the clear tutorials and this is probably the best I’ve seen for a recessed zipper.
What an awesome bag, Whitney! I've always liked the look of a tote bag with a band of fabric different than the body of the bag and handles and also with a recessed zipper. You made this bag look like it is totally doable 👌 Thanks for sharing. And yes, please show more DIY organization ideas 😄
Thanks Whitney. You are such an awesome person, sewer, teacher. I LOVE this bag with the recessed zipper. You make it easy. I will be trying it soon. For marking fabric, I have tried so many kinds of marking tools. The one I found works the best EVERY TIME........ Sharpie marker's (Black). Fine point. Marks on everything, it is always easy to see. I make ALL my own bias tape ( binding) so I can match or contrast with my project fabric. Thanks again for your wonderful, easy to follow tutorial. 💜💜
Making the bag now. But don’t have fusible fleece. None at Walmart. Have to go to quilt store tomorrow. My 4 year old granddaughter loves it. Going to make Dr Seuss for book bag too. Great tutorial
Love the bag and the directions for making the zipper panel are the clearest I've seen! I really appreciate your clear and concise your narration, as well as your well focused camera work - well done! I always look forward to your videos. BTW, I now wear a cut resistant glove every time I use my rotary cutter, so thanks for that lesson too! ;-) Best wishes to you and your family!
Whitney, love your videos. This is no exception. The recessed zipper always intimidated me but you make it so much easier. Will try it and post pics. Thanks again.
Wow Whitney! I've been looking for a project like this for a long time and BAM! here you are. Thank you so much for taking the time to film this tutorial. I appreciate it!
I need a bag to store all of my zippers (I found a great haul at Hobby Lobby recently). This bag will work wonderfully. I will get started on it tonight.
Great video! You make it look so easy, especially the zipper panel! I like how your directions are simple, and to the point! I can't wait to make one of these totes! Thanks! 😁
Hi Whitney, you're so wonderful for making this video and giving us your knowledge so generously. I don't understand the bit at 3.36' after you cat off the edges.. if possible please explain.
Love your videos (always puts a smile on my face when I see a notification for a new video you've uploaded!) and love this bag. Would be great to make a version of this bag where the top raw edges are hidden under the lining so no bias tape needed. I haven't been sewing long but already made a few of your projects and will attempt this zipper bag but leaving a gap in the lining to turn it through so I won't need to use the bias tape. Think all I'll need to do is treat the zipper part like I would straps, so making sure they are tucked down while I sew on the lining 🤔 then turn it through and see what mistakes I've made 🤣
Love this bag! You did a great job on explaining how to make it. I was wondering if you could show us how to make an inside zipper pocket for this bag? Also, could you show how to make the zipper enclose all the way around the top instead of just the two sides? Thanks
Hi Whitney, Thank you for this fabulous tutorial. I need to make the bag at least 2 inches bigger for a printer. Do I just add 2 inches everywhere? I am a basic sewer. Thank you so much. Patricia MacFarlane. Forest Lake Qld Australia.
Always appreciate your videos! Question for you Whitney....I've noticed various bag makers sometimes differ regarding where to attach batting or fusible interface. Is their a rule of thumb regarding whether I should fuse the main bag? On the lining or on the main fabric (outers)????
Whitney, you are a treasure!! So talented. These would make great gifts for my daughters in law. I plan to make the straps longer so they can throw them over their shoulders. They both have very young children and this bag is a great size for a day out😀💖 PS Are you using quilting fabric?
I love that idea! I used flannel for the outside and quilting cotton for the lining. I did forget to mention in the video that this would be a great overnight bag for kids.
Question: When you box the bottom corners, do you sew all the way through, making the triangle, or do you just sew *almost* all the way through, stopping before running over the edge? I love your videos. Thanks for helping me to learn to make so many things!
Hi Whitney! Today was my first time watching one of your tutorials. I was wondering if it is possible to make a REVERSABLE tote that zippers on both sides 🤔?
This is a great style for a lunch bag. I think I'm going to try it for my daughter she is in need of a lunch bag that lets her container lay flat instead of it's side and making a mess of the food. Very considered making one with the thermo lining?
CUTE CUTE CUTE!!! I'm definitely going to be trying this one. My problem is the bias tape. I can't ever seem to get it to work correctly for me. Any suggestions?
Trying using the extra wide bias tape or trimming the seam allowance down a little after sewing it on the first side before wrapping it around and top stitching.
Very well taught...clear and concise!...I have been sewing since gr. 8...and a quilter for 19 years...I am STILL terrified of zippers...don't know why....they scare me!!! I am afraid of them!
Would this make a good ballet bag for girls? It's to carry thier dance shoes when they go to lessons? I thought it would be cute with their names on it
Please, when making your videos allow them to be adjustable onto the landscape view, as all is not seen clearly in portrait view. Thanks much. And thank you for the lesson taught. I went looking for exactly that kind of video. God bless you. ❤
If I wanted to make the bag taller/deeper, is there anything I’d need to consider aside from adding inches to the lower body, lining, and fusible fleece height?
Whitney Sews Thank you for the quick reply! I will let you know! Also, I’m *very* new to sewing and this video / project has given me a world of confidence! I made one bag and have about 3 more I’m planning to make. I just hit up my local Hobby Lobby to get a bunch of zippers that were on clearance.

@@Whitney_Sews I know what you are talking about. I also have hem tape that needs to be used. In my stash my bias tape is not double folded but I think I will try to use it. It is all pretty much neutral colors so the only tape i should have to make or purchase what is going to show on the outside. Thank you for your input. I start double guessing myself on the simplest of techniques. Your instructions are so clear. I don't know why i was fretting over the bias tape. Lol. Thank you again for your kindness.

You made this looks so easy. It probably takes more time to cut and prep, than it is to actually make the bag. Thank you for a great tutorial.
