I respect you so much for this video. There are way too many ppl out here selling medical coding courses, but wont tell ppl where the information is to help them self-study. Because the truth is after 10 week or 12 week course you will need to self-study to pass the certification exam. I'm a nurse educator with CRC, I promote scholarship not learned helplessness
Thank you! You’re absolutely correct. In this field we're always learning and researching new information. I’m just happy to share what I know to help others. 🤗
Hi there, I was reviewing the websites you provided and the links you spoke of on the Novitas websites are no longer active. I appreciate you making this video it's so helpful.
Thanks , I definitely can be testimony for joining a big schools coding program and dropping out because that price tag and length was just not sitting right for me. With my experience already in the field I just wanted the certification with out too much hassle. I found your page looking for answers to cut my cost and time in half. Thank you for this information. Keep up the great work.
Absolutely!! Not everyone goes to school for coding, so don’t feel bad for dropping out, I completely understand! I didn’t want to spend a bunch of money either! You can still get certified and become a coder without it. Thank you for supporting my channel and good luck to you on your journey. 🧡
Congratulations!! 🎉 Oh okay! I can’t remember if I did a little bit of nephrology in the past. A close coworker of mine does nephrology coding now. ☺️ Good luck to you and thank you for supporting! 🤍
I just found your channel and I just finished my online class with AAPC. I trained myself in medical coding in the late 90's, however I took many other paths in the medical field. So, I am getting ready to take my national exam. I also have my national certification as a Medical biller. So, again I'm glad I came across your channel.
@@topguncharlie3964 I only took courses that were related to my coding job. My first course I took through the AAPC was for Evaluation & Management because I was a level I coder doing e&ms only. I didn't have any courses on my resume but I kind already had a foot in the door because I was working in the coding department already as a data entry clerk. Once I passed my CPC exam about 3 months later I got my first coding job within that same department. You're very welcome!
@@mrs.debrie8913 The course I took for Evaluation & Management was informative and I learned from it but it wasn’t like a college course with one-on-one training. It was just an online course where you watch videos and answer questions after each section. Once you complete the course you get a certificate but it’s not a coding credential. You’d have to pass the CEMC (certified evaluamtion & management coder) exam to get the credential.
Yes. I found on AAPC website that they have CPT and HCPCS e-books you can purchase and I assume download but it also states you cannot use an e-book for a coding exam. Here is the link below. You’ll have to scroll towards the bottom to find e-books. www.aapc.com/medical-coding-books/#tab2021
Hi Carol: I’m not sure because I haven’t had to go through that process before. I’d reach out to the organization you got your certifications in and ask them. Sorry. 😞
Thank you! It’s just a CPT and a ICD-10-CM book. You can find them on Optum or AMA website. The ICD-10-CM I like to get from Decision Health their Professional version.
