I think the most interesting part of this story I have never heard is that his parole officer only had Manson and he was studying group dynamics and the effects of drugs.
The part of him being part of drug research I’m not sure, but as far as him only having Manson as his parolee there was a program going on that time to test recidivism between PO and parolee which mansons officer was part of. I don’t remember all the details but O’Neill talked about it on JRRE, basically the smith guy only had Manson as part of this program to test out the effective rate of PO’s and such. So there was a “reason” it might be dubious, but there was a reason.
Tom isn't really doing the podcast thing much at the moment. I think y'all are going to have to wait for him to publish his follow-up book to Chaos before he starts appearing on podcasts again.
@@robchapman557so he should, as it seems that guy did all the heavy lifting on this… and I recommend everyone should read it - it’s mind-bendingly good.
Back in the late 70's I rented a house in Topanga Canyon. On Halloween night I was reading Helter Skelter and I got to the chapter about the murder of Gary Hinman. The address was listed as 964 Old Topanga Road. I walked down the wooden stairs from my house to the road -- on s**t. The mailbox next to mine was 964 Old Topanga Road. It made for a really spooky Halloween wordering if Gary's ghost was still haunting the house next door.
@@Freecoke6 I found out later that Linda Ronstadt was renting the house I rented when Hinman was killed next door but she was not in town when it happened.
Well, part of the problem is everyone was telling different stories, changing stories, multiple motivations, variation of stories, etc. Manson has been the most consistent, ironically, in shirking any responsibilities, which was his practiced ”go to” sop since a kid. There may have been a small number - less than 4 to 6 - of them, perhaps, may know what really happened and why, but with changed stories and people’s memories corrupted by time or convenience or both, nobody will ever put it 100% together.
A really good book on Manson and more is "Weird Scenes Inside the Canyon: Laurel Canyon , Covert Ops and the Dark Heart of the Hippie Dream" by Dave McGowan. It's a great book.
As a psychologist I can share that people have enate abilities that you hone during your life, this starts at a young age. It honestly does not make sense to say that someone learned how to have people follow you in jail since that was the reason he was in jail.
As a psychologist you should also share the history of drugs being tested on prisoners. Or that Mkultra was deployed against citizens and prisoners alike.
Bobby Beausoleil wasn’t just “popular with The Girls”. Bobby played guitar with Love, “The Biggest Band on the Strip” at the time; Total Rock Star. Also, the catamite of connected underground cinema/Magick weirdo king Kenneth Anger
I always had this feeling that Charles Manson was a mobilizing spiritual agent/guru to the Aryan Brotherhood, and was hand-picked for that role. I dont know why i think that. Maybe I saw that in a movie or something.
I am almost certain that the original owners of the house of Roman and Sharon Tate, were musicians that did not like Charlie our his music, and that’s why he chose that house - wrote this before he said this sorry
I do not find Rick Spence a creditable source on this account. He seems more into speculation than facts. It’s my understanding that Manson’s teachers have stated that in elementary school he displays manipulation techniques. Things that seemed harmless at the time but when they reflected back was found to be disturbing. Weird to skip that part, I find it rather important. There are many sources to cite but the following is one: You will find useful information in Manson: The Life and Times of Charles Manson by Jeff Guinn, which offers an in-depth look at Manson's life. I wish everyone the best in your research!
I cant remember the author but theres a book written by a guy who befriended manson and he got this same story from manson its the most obvious and simple reason for the murders and what I believe happened
This man is either dishonest or a liar because their is now way you would think he was a DEA informant rather than one of the CIA’s mk ultra case he said it himself he was around the music and movie industry which is weird
