Bobby Rahal Delivers the 1986 Indy 500-Winning March 86C to its New Home at the IMS Museum

On October 21, 2021, Bobby Rahal - a legend as the 1986 Indianapolis 500 winner and a two-time winning car owner - delivered the famous Truesports/Red Roof Inns March 86C to its new permanent home at the IMS Museum! The car, which also propelled Rahal to the 1986 CART Series Championship, is now owned the IMS Foundation, which operates under the IMS Museum name. I was lucky enough to know someone in the Trueports organization in 1986. I saw this car at the team shop on several occasions during the '86 season and even got to (very carefully) sit in it. I was young and slim but it was still a tight fit. This particular car in the red Budweiser/Red Rood Inns livery and the March 86C in general has always been one of my favorite Indy cars ever. It just looks "right".

The museum has been closed for 7 months and will remain closed for another year..It's receiving a complete makeover and will be unrecognizable on the inside when it reopens in 2025
