Ben Foster is one of the greatest character actors of our day. Whenever he’s your 2nd-4th lead you just know he’s gonna bring it. One of his most underrated performances: “Alpha Dog” from 2006
Foster should 100 percent get an Oscar for this. dead faced subtle emotionless. Never squints his eyes.. never opens them wider than just a casual basic amount. Doesn’t raise his voice or anything.. he obviously knows what he’s doing cause all the little stuff together made that character haunting. . Those shots from the side of them in a steady trot on the horses passing through trees at like an off beat but consistent rhythm is weirdly beautiful to see. Then you remember what they are doing and it instantly becomes haunting again. Never commented on anything about a movie at all but this one got me. Oscars are ridiculous anyway but ..if he don’t get one with how flawless every syllable he speaks and movement he makes in this movie is.. it’ll be a tragedy.
Well this is yet ANOTHER slave movie, so the Oscar nominations are already baked in. Whether he wins will be determined by the other Oscar winners for 2022. If there aren't enough POC winners in other categories, he might get that diversity quota snub.
Ben Foster is a helluva actor!! EVERYTHING I've seen that he has a role in, he just slaughters it!! Plus, he keeps getting better & better. He's SO believable as every character he plays.
In my opinion there’s a hand full of actors that have me convinced, before watching the movie, that it going to be a good one. Ben Foster is one for me.
You know I've just heard about this film and two things spring to mind regarding method acting. 1. Actors method acting is really just for their own gratification. 2. It shows a lack of ability that they need to immerse themselves so fully into the role so that they are able to keep acting in character. It really is nonsense to bring that energy to a film. Research is important and building a persona is obviously the key. But to keep it up between takes and go to extremes that impact on your fellow cast members is completely self absorbed.
Uh, no. He's an actor and you're not. There's a reason why they get paid millions of dollars. If they want to do method acting to make them more convincing all the power to them. What what makes a good movie is ultimately in the end is the actors and how convincing they are. So who are you to say how an actor should approach the role
What is the deal with this Foster guy?.. Better yet, who is this guy's agent/manager? This is one of those things that I just don't get. After Alpha Dog and then Yuma it was clear that he is going somewhere. From Cagney to Penn to Rourke to Foster. That is the line up that was evolving. Then, who thought it would be a good idea to line him up with a counterpart like Wahlberg as the bad guy in Contraband??? I can go on. The guy is completely underrated. He should taking on some of the greatest movie roles by now.

It was Hostage for me. Was a fan before that film, but, man, that movie is one of his best works.
His role in that is legendary
3:10 to Yuma, Bang Bang Your Dead... hell he was even good in the Punisher Movie. Oh and great TV performances too like on Six Feet Under.

Ben Foster did a great job, but I feel he is gettong typecast into these type roles.
He's like the go to racist. Even in alpha dog, which he kicked ass in. I mean literally kicking everyone's ass.
Haha wonderful
foster hold on tight he is doing good job
Ben foster don’t want to feel that Chris rock slap that’s why he stood his distance 🤷🏾♂️
L racist dude enjoyed playing a slave owner being controlling and getting paid for it.

No need to be racist, but we know that you are.

After that slapgate incidents, a good man wouldn't make an eye contact with him either. If they ever did, that would be acting.
