    People often wonder if naltrexone blocks all the pleasure activities that produce endorphins - and not only alcohol related endorphins. In this video, Dr. Mendelson speaks about naltrexone and how it impacts endorphins, serotonin, and mood when someone is using the medication for alcohol addiction, or alcohol use disorder (AUD). Dr. Mendelson explains how endorphins from alcohol are different than endorphins from other activities.

    Naltrexsone definitely works for me. I have become so disinterested in drinking since no buzz. No, it does not change my mood whatsoever. I work out, eat super healthy, meditate, and stay super active. You have to work it to make it work just like everything. There is no ONE cure-all folks. You have to do the work.

      This is a fake response because naltrexone does not stop the buzz from alcohol. It's designed to take away the release of serotonin (the feel good) pleasure feeling in your brain from drinking. Visit the naltroxone site to confirm this. Either you're paid to say this or your full of bs.

      I noticed a change in my mood i only take when i am going to drink. My doc wanted me to take daily but it upset my stomach. If i do drink on it i get sick too...but i still incorporate it into my life and my drinking has lessened from 3 nights per week with 2 or 3 drinks to once a week 1 or 2 drinks.....my mood overall while off it and not drinking has improved. My skin too !

    Thanks for this info. Can you please address the difference between taking Naltrexone once a day (as usually prescribed) vs. the Sinclair method of taking it one hour before you plan on drinking and why you support the Sinclair method of taking Naltrexone?

    • @RiaHealth
      @RiaHealth  2 роки тому +1

      Our studies show that the Sinclair Method (coupled with counseling, which is very important) works for most people. And also for most people, taking naltrexone before drinking would happen just once a day. But all of this should be discussed with your doctor. We hope we answered your question, and appreciate your writing.

    Stuff seriously works, no joke. Almost 2 months sober from drinking myself to "sleep" every night for the past 10 years. Ended up in hospital with pancreatitis. Primary care physician prescribed me Naltrexone. Pretty sure it saved my life. Lost like 10lbs already too. Be that as it may there we periods where I wouldve been fine if I didnt wake up. Lost sense of purpose in life from losing the pleasure in things. Took me a little bit to get over. You have to look at things differently. Part of the journey to changing anyhow. It also gave me the patience to sit and think things through rather than giving into the gratification of jumping straight to anger.
    Now I feel very uncomfortable without it (the meds). It is the very first thing I reach for in the morning. Its going to be hell getting off it.

    I have been taking low dose naltrexone for over a decade for my autoimmune. It's commonly prescribed to help MS, Lupus, MCTD, Parkinson, small cell lung cancer, etc. and it has never affected my pleasure for anything in life. I've seen Naltrexone save the lives of many people who suffered from alcoholism.

    I took 50mg for just 2 days and experiences severe irritability, muscle aches, extreme drowsiness, yet difficulty sleeping with very vivid and disturbing dreams. I also lost my appetite for food or any close connection with my wife, even holding hands felt undesirable.
    For me, these side effects were just too much to cope with and I ended the program. Two days later, I started returning to normal

      @@TheNewOriginals450 I'm not the person you're askin, but I started taking Naltrexone and the same thing kinda happened to me. When I drank, I felt no pleasure in it, alongside other things. It was a weird feeling. I was still able to feel contentment and happinnes, but super pleasurable things weren't so pleasurable. BUT things like socializing and hanging out with friends felt WAY better! I enjoyed it more than when I wasn't taking Naltrexone, and maybe even more than when I was drinking! Thing is, I started getting some upper-right abdominal pain/discomfort (which is ur liver) and I hated not having my life without my pleasure response so I stopped taking it.
      I am now more thankful and grateful for going sober the OG way, even if it may be harder.

    Interesting. In another video with Claudia, she made it seem like if you took it in the morning as a doctor might prescribe, you would be blocking good endorphins from everyday things like food, sex, exercise etc. So, that is not the case?

    • @trias418
      @trias418 2 роки тому +2

      I certainly enjoyed food while on naltrexone, but I am more skeptical about their claims regarding sex and exercise. However, I would also be concerned about taking naltrexone in the morning because if you are a late night drinker, the half-life of the drug in your system means it may not be effective enough at night time if you take it too early.
