It is "Koibitoyo," released in 1980 by singer-songwriter Mayumi Itsuwa. A lot of people requested it for me. In May 1980, her producer Takasuke Kida died in a car accident while driving in Yamanashi Prefecture, and Mayumi wrote the song while looking at his widow at his funeral. This song is not about missing a broken lover, but about honoring someone who is already dead. So I feel a sad and lonely atmosphere.
This song is a masterpiece, so many singers covered it. Among them, I like the version of "Misora Hibari," a Japanese national singer and queen of Enka. If the original song is understated sadness, Misora Hibari's song shows the peak of empathy and feels mature.
There are many translations of this song in Korea, too. A singer named "Lynn Ae" sang it with an R&B vibe under the title of "After Farewell Love."
