Neat, I got some old 027 track and controller from my train club and can finally run my old Lionel set again, just need track cleaning.

Here in Australia we see this streamline design a little more often.

Saw one of these beauties at a hobby shop a few months back, first time seeing one in person, it was upgraded to MTH proto 3 and everything… they had its sister, the i4, as well. Very nice locomotives

Very cool. The Yankee Clipper announcements are tops. I have the same Weaver engine and some day will have to find someone capable of such upgrades. Over my head. Thanks for sharing.

Absolutely love it Sid. Being a New England steam fan it really pains me that MTH never made the I5’s. I actually have the Merchant Limited set that was made for this engine. You did a great job with this upgrade!

MTH most likely didn't get enough orders to make it worthwhile to put it into production. There's New Haven fans out there but probably not enough of them are O Gaugers.

Great job on the upgrade of a beautiful Weaver locomotive! I hope you find more of the passenger cars.
    Enjoy!

Thanks for this customizing upgrade video about this unique Weaver I5 Hudson, Sid! It's a really beautiful engine with the great PS2 bell, whistle and smoke effects. Thanks for giving your fans another chance share the results of your skills.

Sid, you're such an amazing craftsman and technician that I hate to give you any advice, I might embarass myself, but if I were you I'd replace the battery pack in the tender with a BCR unit. I've put BCR's in all my MTH engines and I'm not sorry I did, they work great and are worth the money spent to avoid battery issues.
Fantastic job you did on the I5!
PS: Until you find some more Osgood-Bradley NH coaches you can always run it with Pullmans. Pullmans go with anything.

    Hi Sid.
You might want to bring that with you when you and Chris stop over to visit the layout.
    I have 4 of those
New Haven passenger cars sitting on the shelf.
You might be interested in running.

I think you're speaking of a New Haven promotional film done in 1942 called "A Great Railroad At Work." In my opinon it's one of the best railroad promo films ever made. I'd definately recommend to anyone who doesn't have it find it on DVD, you won't be sorry!

Great video Sid. I will have to wash the video again, but did you upgrade the lighting to all LEDs and put a capacitor in place of the battery backup? A great job on the engine and tender!

    • @SidsTrains
      @SidsTrains  2 роки тому

Yeah the passenger car got LEDs with a capacitor. On the engine it just got LEDs. I almost always use batteries on my MTH engines. I believe in a good battery doing a good job. I've never had a need for a BCR in an engine nor do I think they perform as good as a well kept battery.

The point is MTH never made an I5. So I created one by putting PS2 in the Weaver one.

@@SidsTrains it’s still a Weaver I5. I’ve seen people put MTH guts in Lionel stuff and vise versa. Title is kinda clickbait… you could’ve easily said that it was a modified Weaver I5.
