Tfw they complain about screen size but I drive a truck with no screen because pre-2008 is life
Lorenzo Holt ikr , I really don't want a new truck that has so much tech to fail
Idk I really like the 2011-2016 body style super duty and the 4th gen rams, but tbh I'm just gonna stick to older trucks until I save enough to buy a newer one. I like older trucks a lot because they sound better most of the time though
I have the first gen Titan and I was happy with just a built in aux port

I like this. You taking people around on test drives and have the real specs (unlike most car salesmen)
I like this type of format. Good work. Nice to hear what the common folk thinks about a particular product. These people seemed down to Earth.👌👍
I'm from Texas and can say the Titan XD diesel is way underrated. I have owned many trucks over the years from gas and diesel. When I went to go look for another truck again I knew for sure I wanted a diesel again for towing, but just didn't want to pay 82k for another new Ram 2500. After much testing and researching, I ended up with a Titan XD Pro4x Diesel and bought it for less than half the price of the Ram 2500 Limited. I will be honest and say I was hesitant at first since I have never owned a Nissan, but over time I have seen the light.
I use to haul a 30ft travel trailer behind it but then recently upgraded to a Grand Design Fifth-wheel Toy Hauler that weighs 16k Lbs. It has hauled the fifth wheel just fine and the only thing we added was the Timbren NRTTNA Suspension Enhancement System. Obviously, we leave plenty of room for braking even after we adjusted the electric braking which is now set to 8.0. These Titan XD trucks are basically a 1500 style truck on steroids but not as much HP as a 2500 series truck but still has plenty of torque for towing. If you go underneath the frame it is heavy duty. Also, you can't go wrong with a CUMMINS diesel engine.
So far I have over 18k on my 2018 Nissan TD XD Diesel Pro4x and zero issues. PLUS you just can't beat the 5 year/100K miles bumper-to-bumper warranty included that is way better than Ford, Chevy or Ram.
I’m glad you did this...you have always been open to new or other options!
I liked this video. You had your own opinion of this truck. And you did a good job of inviting "strangers" the opportunity to drive this truck without trying to persuade them towards your conclusions. I look forward to seeing more of this type of spontaneous test drives if possible.
At least they're honest.
You probably sold hundreds of Titan XDs with this video. Nissan should just let you have the truck.
yeah but then he would have to pay taxes on that as income and register it. plus he has an f-450 what more do you need. But i will take a free Pro-4X
This was a very good report! Not just because it spotlighted the Nissan Titan , which even impressed me at the auto show, but the fact that you did this in the correct area (Texas) where the needs of a truck owner are quite diverse and where the overwhelming attitude is towards the purchase of a Ford more than any other truck brand.
That one gentleman who told about his extreme towing needs, but concluded that if those needs weren't there, that the Titan would have been his choice; this is EXACTLY what potential buyers (like myself) need to hear. His specific need led him to Ford, but if that need wasn't there, he would be a Titan owner (Nissan, I hope you were listening!!!!) Outstanding video here!

Can’t get a more honest review than this
My titan xd has 53k .... I've owned it for 18 months .... running perfect
You neglected to point out that the most 'American' vehicle anybody can buy is the Nissan Titan pickup because it is designed and built in the USA and has the highest domestic content (95%) of any vehicle made in the USA.
Problemo comes when you need warranty service at the dealer. They are few and far between.
A Day Depending on where one lives, you're absolutely correct. In the Twin Cities Minnesota area there are 7 Nissan dealers and only 6 more in the whole rest of the state.
Ricky Rox I hope you realize, the F150 is the highest selling vehicle per units, of any type in the world, and has been for over 50 years! I don't know if that's relevant to your comment, but I just felt like saying it. 😉😁
IPBullets Oh, I realize. I've managed 2 different Ford dealerships. The F150 only has 70% domestic content. I can name 2 Toyota models that are much higher than that, the Kentucky built Camry and the Indiana built Sienna minivan are higher and have the American Made designation, whereas the F150 doesn't even qualify as America Made.
Highest domestic parts yet the majority of profits go back to Japan. I could careless like others have said. I buy what I want. I almost got the Titan 2 years ago but stick with a 16 Silverado. It's a real nice truck.. fact is. They all are,
That review video was a great idea with good cross section of people giving their opinion.
I enjoyed this. You should do these interviews more often.
Oh nice video. I myself don’t know enough about that truck.
Thanks for sharing
if nissian pays attention to why this man bought a superduty, they can actually compete with the best selling truck in its class. jus saying
I had a Chevy Silverado 1500, traded it in for a Nissan Titan, haven't looked back since. Most reliable vehicle I have ever owned!
Really liked the interviews! This was a great video!!
I’ve been driving my current Titan since 2006, and am just about ready to get a new truck. I’ve had zero issues with my 2006, and I tow a 6000 lb. travel trailer with it nearly every weekend of the summer. I’m going to give my truck to my son and get a new Titan XD.
It's not his truck, I would have floored it around the corner and jumped the ramp at 3:08
Lmao I thought I was crazy for thinking that same thing... maybe yall are crazy too
The interior and seats also look rather nice. Very interesting unit.
Great approach letting other truck owners see and drive it. Thanks.
Just what I wanted to see. You did a great job on this video. Fair and square review with
all the other contenders more then mentioned. I have been waiting to drive this Nissan truck.
Now driving and seeing for myself is a must due. Thand’s for you’r review!
I plan on getting this truck eventually! Ive gotten crap for it from the salesmen at the dealerships for being a girl but they don't change my mind no matter how hard they try.
The only truck assembled and built in USA , I work on the assembly plant for dodge and ford diesels in Mexico
Aren’t Ford superduties made in Louisville? You know at the Louisville truck plant
@@Stokesman101 I’m pretty sure that every non American brand who sells trucks manufactures them in the United States because of the Chicken Tax. If they tried to export them over here they’d be losing so much money by having to pay a 25% tarring that it wouldn’t be worth it.
That’s why Toyota doesn’t sell the Hilux in the states.
@@Jacob-yd7gd They don't sell the Hilux because it doesn't meet emissions and safety standards. It's not about the tariff because the 4runners and Landcruisers are still made in Japan
This was very good and seemed incredibly honest. Well done.
Thanks for doing a full review
I agree with that guy.....my 250 Super Duty now feels too much for me not towing large RV. I agree about the small screen. Taking notes again. Thanks for demos!! Never considered Nissan until now!! Cooling seats...oh my! You were right...Wait for next video!
I love my Titan XD! These are great trucks for the money. Nissan enabled me to get into a diesel for less than 45k and have the midnight edition truck with all options. If I went with Ram, Chevy, or Ford it would have cost me more than 60k to get a diesel.
I just bought one of these and I’m really impressed with it. I love fords owned them my whole life. I wanted to try something different Shaw this truck at a decent price I’ll see where it goes.
I have an 07 Silverado 1500 CLASSIC (cat eye) with the 5.3. I love it.
I love my XD Platinum Reserve, minus a few inconveniences with the interior and alignments.
I think for the market they were shooting for they did a great job. It’s much cheaper than similar 3/4 ton trucks and for the majority of non commercial consumers it has enough capacity. I would guess the reason the Japanese don’t go for the 3/4 or 1 ton market is because it would be pretty tough to beat the big three in a commercial setting, which is where the majority of sales come from.
I have a 19’ gas XD. Great truck. Tows my 33’ TT extremely well. Still under warranty (100,000/5). No gimmicky turbocharged V6 or cylinder deactivation. Only issue I have is the gas tank size when camping. Really have to plan well with 26 gallons.
Man, those Texas boys sure love their Ford pickups! Woohoo! My kind of peeps!
IPBullets yet I watched another video and most people had rams and I watched another video and most people had chevy .
All in Texas
I really liked this video.
Very nice and refreshing take on a video review. Quick and many test subjects. Thank BTBRV
I have always liked the Titan, the new looks haven't grown on me yet but I would own one.
Why does it have to be baywatch yellow though?.....
Because it’s a pro4x that’s their thing but they’re changing all that now in 2020
I really liked this video! Keep it up
jeez i love your vids bro...great review
I think I'm the only guy in the world that went from a 2019ram Cummins to the titan with diesel. I love it.
I didn’t think the wind was that bad, I’d forgotten about it until you mentioned it again, guess the screen worked a bit.
I almost bought a 2017 titan xd. Test drove it for miles. The power was good, interior was nice and the ride was very comfortable if you are considering family transport, however. IMO, I felt a tad bit cramped while driving like everything was right ontop of you. The F150 I drove prior to had way more room to fully accommodate anything and anyone. I think if Nissan added more room to the cabin I would definitely buy it.
THese guys were amqzing i wont mind spending a day or few around them
😅👌
Might be your best video ... all the best!
"it's not that super comfy feel you get with a lot of half tons" wow, i'm sold... lmao
This was pretty cool. Good video idea. Was hoping you'd find a real good ol boy that was just disgusted at the site of it though lol
I'm 6'6 and around 220-230lbs. This was the truck for me. I dont have anything heavy to tow. It drives well. It's spacious inside. It's gonna last a long time.
Congrats on 100k subs! Just noticed
Great video!!!
I purchased my 2017 X.D. Cummins to tow a specific weight. A travel trailer at approximately 8500 lbs.
I drive a lot, around 60k miles a year, and was considering on of these. I always check the maintenance schedules in the owners manual. The service these trucks require seems excessive. If you ever do another review on this truck, you should look into it.
Great video 👍🏼
I've got the 1/2 ton Pro-4X... and I love it. I've had it off-road in Moab, UT, pulled a 28' camper through the mountains, and haul dirt bikes to the desert on weekends. Rides great, plenty of power, better quality interior when I compared it directly to the big 3. I agree that they missed the mark with the infotainment screen, but I use my cell on a RAM/Pro Clip mount for navigation and the Bluetooth audio quality is fantastic through the stock Rockford Fosgate setup. I thought I would regret the 5.5ft bed, but I've had 8ft sheets of plywood with the tailgate down and the bed extender sitting on top of them then 8, 10, & 12ft 2x4s on top of the extender with no problem. Enough to build a small shed. I use the bed a lot, but the full crew cab more. 16k miles on it now with zero problems. My last Ford truck was in the shop 3 days after purchase and every few months after that until I got rid of it for a Nissan and I've never looked back.
I promised myself that I would get a diesel Titan just as soon as I wore my 2010 Titan gasser out, well it's been 200k miles and its still strong so this might take some time.
What was interesting to me is how all 3 had overall negative things to say about GM/Chevy, but two of them were positive about the older Chevys they had.
I own the same truck just bought it like 2 weeks ago mine is red and the pro 4X edition and has a few after market upgrades and Im liking it so far
Great vid.... am a fan of the titan xd ..... will be my next truck. :)
I work for IPAC Nissan here in San Antonio and let me tell you something about the XD
It’s really really heavy
Man I love Texas I wanna own a ranch there one day ahaha
@RobsPower Channel Texas resident here, I hope you got a chance to move on down.
I am a senior who's looking for a pickup that has all the safety features such as blink spot alert, collision alert, lane departure alert, adaptive cruiser control, etc. I currently never leave home without my wide riding shotgun when I drive. I like long bed trucks with a crew cab should there be an occasion where family members and dogs can tag along. Any suggestions?
Great video...can you link your video on the ford stx?
Strangest thing. In the Ram ecodiesel it is very out of place, the way that the engine likes to rev up like a true Italian car.
Love the Titan, I am not a fan of the DEF stuff on the new Diesels though. Most people will never tow enough to actually need a HD truck. I am looking at the half ton Titan, probably the best engine available in the half ton market.
I’m driving a ‘18 1/2 ton crew cab 4x4 Midnight Edition right now. It’s a great truck. I’ve had F150s and Chevys. This is just as good or better. Comfortable ride, plenty of power.
Nice video man. I like it.
I guess I don't understand everyone's fascination with the size of the infotainment screen. Your smart phone, either Android or iOS, will typically have a better navigation system, and it stays updated all the time, without having to pay anything. The nav systems (the big 3 included) in these vehicles require purchasing an update every few years. Not worth it if you ask me. Use your phone. Now I do admit that they should go with a higher resolution screen if the vehicle includes the cameras.
I agree with you i have the Gas version of this truck and the screen makes no difference to me. but with Apple Car Play in particular you can have a lot of head up visibility with a bigger screen.
but most newer trucks like the F150 STX come standard with an 8" touch display that has apple car play/android which allows the owner to just use their maps app from there phone the XD dosent have that capability
I can see the Apple Car Play/Android version being a nice convenience, but I guess I'm not missing it because I've never had either. I've got a magnetic mount that I use to hold my Pixel 2 XL, and I use Bluetooth. It works all the same to me. My phone's usually easier to see, because I can adjust the angle, and don't get the glare the nav screen gets.
That's why Android Auto / Apple Carplay is preferable. Now your nav is google maps that updates just like your phone, has traffic just like your phone, etc.
All these mfrs trying to reinvent the wheel for last 20 years with awful nav systems... nobody should be doing that anymore.
Damn these new fangled trucks have more electronics than my old Rover disco 😂
Hi, I am looking for my last Truck; it has to last me the rest of my life. Does this truck have the Diesel additive fluid? I have always had a CHEVY. Do you know if or when they will make the delete for that?
Infotainment screen
*Looks at 02 F150*
My radio works sometimes.
Couldn't believe I saw a titan pulling a Redwood fifth wheel. Way over the ratings
When I got my xd with the Cummins I went to look at a 6.7 and the sales men put this in my face, towing capacity, luxury and reliability is unmatched!
The titan xd is very easy to tow at max capacities. I agree they under rated the truck, which is disappointing, but everything about it is heavy duty. They use 6000 lb axles though they rate them at 5100, the aisin trans is the same trans as the dodge 1 ton (that can be found all over the internet) and the brakes are as large or larger than all other 3/4 tons out there, so it can STOP the max loads just fine. I tow my 10K rated 30' 5ver with 1350lb pin weight just fine.
Dry pin weight don't count. 15% is minimum 1,500lbs. AAM MA248 9.76" axle is semi floating and rated 4,900lbs.
Mike Kasper I agree they are under rated I tow a 38’ bumper pull camper which is 10,000 pounds and it pulls it like nothing Nissan built a hell of a truck
@@871jamie Still in the middle of 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton and has alot of torque in them.
The fully boxed frame, along with 14 “ brakes make it a more stable towing platform than the big 3 half tons
Pretty sure every domestic brand uses fully boxed frames for their half tons...you do have a point regarding the brake size though.
Wonder how this joker cold starts in minus 20 degree celsius. Did they add a block heater yet?
looking at a used 2017 with 161k miles idk if thats high miles for this engine or what the longevity of the motor is like. gunna be used as my daily and for my junk removal business whats mpg like and also max towing thank you
I’ll stick with the crew cab, my gmc made me hate the suicide doors. I wish they made a 4 Door with extra space behind the rear seats.
Nissan does make a crew cab, and the seats both fold down for storage behind the seat, and fold up with lockable storage under the seats. I know, because I own one!
If you don't need the space of a crew, the new double cabs from the GM twins are nice. I have a 2016 silverado. The doors all open normal from both inside and out. The rear doors are basically 3/4 door. Makes it nice to store stuff inside and is ok for smaller people and kids.
So, based on the comments from your 'TSC Poll,' (lol) it would seem Nissan accomplished their mission of creating a 'tweener' truck. Giving folks who need a bit more than a 1/2-ton can do, but that a 3/4-ton would be overkill.
@@darnellsmith363 Yeah, but on the high side of a 1/2-ton instead of the low side.
@@wushock92 I'm vexed in regards to why consumers expect their regular truck to perform like a dually, I'm being serious because I drive Semi's and it's illogical at the things they want to tow🤨
@@darnellsmith363 I'm right there with ya. I cringe at the thought of a 1-ton dually towing 30k loads, or a 1/2-ton pulling 12k. Some of these 5th wheels I wouldn't pull with less than a Class 6.
It's a beautiful truck honestly. I have not looked into nissan for a long whole and was very surprised they even sold a Cummins v8 in a half ton-quarter ton hybrid style. I grew up with my father owning diesel trucks, mainly from GMC and Dodge, but he very recently bought a 2017 F-250 King Ranch. Beautiful truck but its huge and my mother being a Toyota Tundrs fan. Both work in a farm. I could see myself with something like this although I dont really need to being I'm in the city a lot, but its absolutely a beautiful truck, apart from the small infotainment screen that needs an upgrade. I'm also glad they're moving away from chrome as that only makes a truck look cheap in my opinion, the 2020 and 2021 titans look absolutely gorgeous!
Do the current/new titans have the Cummins or no? I'm curious
It’s a fantastic truck but sure, those who need the full benefits of a 3/4 ton won’t want it. But as the first guy said, most don’t use it all and it’s overkill. This is the perfect truck for those folks.
Great video. I am really really looking to get a titan for my next truck.
read this and the coments from owners alike before you do. I own a I6 5.9 24v cummins I was really surprised . Even though allot could be chalked up to things other than the engine its self.
www.caranddriver.com/reviews/2016-nissan-titan-xd-long-term-test-review
Mark Rich - Caranddriver hates Nissan or any Asian cars and never write up any good reviews about them. Any German car reviewed is full of superlatives. They drool over even the shittiest Audi. So for me, that write up was so aweful that it became unbelievable!
Have you seen their writeups for Alfas? It's so over the top... and the things are, predictably, falling apart at the seems.
I love how they say Nissan like it's a difficult foreign word.
Makes me consider a Titan XD, one thing I wish full sized and heavy duty pickups competed against was the price
What kind of 5 weel can that pull???
Jake 1024 any rv dealer. Most of them weigh that much when there longer than 35'
Well with 1600lb payload capacity you would be pushing it with some of the 1/2 ton towable 5th wheels. Are there models that have higher than the 1600lb payload??
Can’t really get an idea of drivability driving in a parking lot. I personally haven’t driven one but I know people who have and they said it can’t even get out of its own way.
Exactly, according to reviews, many of these titans SHAKE at highway speeds, and the transmission is terrible. Hunts for gears and is NOT safe to drive bc of super bad turbo lag
I just made a comment on this. I was surprised that he liked the engine, when every other owner and reviewer pretty much say the engine is pig. I cant remember but I think TFL compared it with the gas engine(endurance V8), and it out pulled the diesel.
They seemed to fix that trans programming issue after the 2016 model. NISSAN seemed to really struggle out the gate with the programming on this truck top to bottom & ended up buying some back. But, with that said it was the first iteration of the truck, so you've got to expect some bumps in the road. Best 'perk' in my opinion with this truck is how affordable pre-owned 2017's are. I think that's a big consideration when comparing to a new half ton or a 3/4 ton with 60k miles or so. The aftermarket has jumped on the turbo lag by the way.
Its beautiful i would buy it, its a good enough truck for me .
Love mine
I'm really a fan of the resale value on these as compared to the dodge/cummins. I reckon I'll be getting a two year old XD here pretty quick.
yep. just bought a 2017 with 95k miles for 22k. very clean and a great price for this market
Interesting that you mention that the engine is torque'y. Seems like the reviews I have seen says the diesel engine is a pig. I completely value your reviews and opinion, and considering this for next year.
John G I would of rather seen those people take off on a highway then in a parking lot.
Beautiful truck 👍👍
I agree with Kyle, on the video. If I didn't have big trailers to pull or I had the funds to own 2 trucks I would consider the XD Titan
I LOVE MY TITAN XD PR!
I looked at every truck out there, best bang for the buck and best warranty in the market. I pull a car trailer with my x3 SxS, a 14,000lb. Dump trailer and a 27’ toy hauler, no problem! I looked at Ford 1/2 $80,000+tax 3/4 $110,000+tax fully loaded. Chevy and GMC about the same. I like the duramax but the rest of the truck is lagging in technology, ie still putting a key in the ignition, turned me off. Toyota come on, wake up and come up with something new! Out the door $76,000 taxes in! (Canadian)btw The only beef I had was the fuel tank is too small. But I replaced it with a Titan tank 50us gals.👍🏻 No problem now.
For all you Texan’s there’s a locking box that’s under the rear seat that holds a long gun.👌🏼🤟🏼
He's right about the 5.3 Liter motor in the Chevy's. I really disliked mine.
Jim Thompson I personally think they should all come with 6.2liter engines.
Ya, but the 5.3 cast iron LS will go 300k miles with just a water pump and maybe Knock sensors, Yes kinda crappy gas mileage.
The problem is gearing. Chevy likes to put 3.08 gears in their trucks now a days which is terrible for acceleration amd towing
I have a v8 4.8 in mu express van....these motors are beasts, and reliable...the 5.3 is just as much the same engine, different stroke....in the suburban it feels too docile, and the pickups....agreed its the gearing, but solid platforms
How do I read up on that 250,000 mile warranty on the chassis cabs?
Nice video. Would you consider doing a review on a 2018 Toyota Tundra with the 5.7 liter v8?
I'm a 2011 F250 gas driver now, and I have driven, for years too, the F250 diesel and honestly this Nissan tricky truck can't do anything to change my mind. Plus, you have to recognize all of this Titan users that are posting their issues in this platform.
No acting and just honest opinions from every day folk , this made for an interesting video worth watching 👍
