The two girls are best friends. The brunette (Amelia) is a lesbian in the closet because the story takes place in Spain in the 1970's when homosexuality is very repressed. When she starts falling for her blonde BFF (Luicita), she tries to push her away because it becomes too hard to always be around a girl she thinks she can never have. Luicita doesn't understand why her best friend is suddenly avoiding her and it led to a big fight in which Amelia said many nasty things in a desperate attempt to keep Luicita away.
But Amelia also can't stand having Luicita angry at her and in this scene is apologizing for the things she said. What she doesn't know is that their fighting has caused Luicita to start questioning her own feelings for her friend. At this point in the story they both are at least half in love with each other but are convinced the other is straight (though Luicita is about to find out otherwise when an out Lesbian former hookup of Amelia's shows up and wrecks even more havoc on their friendship). It's basically just a typical soap story-line, though at least there is good chemistry between the two actresses.
