This is how an interview is done. Such indept questions. Ps. Guyana's formal language is British English because we were colonized by them, then we have creole which is a mixture of words and phrases from the six ethnic groups- Amerindian, European, African, East Indian, Portuguese and Chinese. The Amerindians also have their own languages, the tribes are Carib, Wapisiana and Wai Wai. Those living closer to the borders speak Spanish and Dutch as well. It's truly a cosmopolitan country. Proud to be a Guyanese 🇬🇾. Thanks Ms. Wright for representing.
I am super happy for this comment because it explains so much and many others can read it and have an idea about Guyana even more. Thank you for taking the time to educate us. Many blessings to you 🙏🏼💖💖💖

She is honing her craft and lending her voice to the next generation how cool was this interview Sama will no doubt rise up to be one of the greats in her field if you go by this interview. I just love how Lettia just puts Sama at ease not patronising but listening with intent and purpose. Love how she praised her at the end. Fantes name their Sunday born girls Esi and the Asantes name their Sunday born girls Akosua Its more a tribal and language thing, but they have the same meaning though cos the Fantes and the Asantes all fall under the same umbrella of people called the Akans so their languages are very similar. And yes, Ghana has about 80 different languages and so many ethnic groups all found in a single country almost at the center of the world 🌎
Guyana and Ghana has some shared history. During the transatlantic slave trade some of the slaves taken to Guyana were from Ghana. They were from the Akan tribe.
We also have similar foods. Those include Garri which is called farine in Guyana and prepared differently. Kenkee( not sure if i spelt it right) which is similar to our conkie. We also eat alot of rice like the Ghanaians, ground provision (plantain, cassava, yam), bean stew but we called it peas stew and fish stew just to name a few.
