YoungDrSuess it's impossible. I'm not good, not tall, don't live in the us, about to leave in 2 days and haven't played ball here. But I'll still continue working anyway, you never know what could happen right?
This is amazing how the internet has provided us all this wonderful opportunity to watch young men like these start off their careers in High School, then get drafted into the NBA, then one day, becoming Legends in the NBA. It is amazing to let us experience their journeys with them. Good on you Austin! We all hope you go far!
Difference was, Walton was a second round pick meaning the expectations were rather low to begin with. 32nd picks in the draft don't tend to stick around so the fact that Walton stayed in the NBA as long as he did actually meant he exceeded expectations. Rivers on the other hand was a lottery pick. Much higher stakes.
hes a good player ... we already know that if u watch some mixtapes of him hes really good he has the attitude and the confedince Just like kobe thats why i said hes gonna be the next kobe
Miss said that he is right now in my opinion the best basketball coach who is coaching a team there have been better in the past but he took duke an okay program and over the last decades has made them the number 3 program of all time according to espn
i played ball with austin b4, i went to winterpark highschool n we played on the same team n tell u the truth the man has always had game.. his father doc rivers didnt need to help him get into the nba.. the man had a dam gud college career i mean only one year but i guess he felt he was ready n tell u the truth i don think hes doin tht bad of a job.. give him a year or two.
How does the draft work? Are the teams selected by how well they did the previous year, so the worse you did the higher your pick, or is it just picking teams out a hat sort of deal?
Theres a reason why he used to be #1 prospect. He just went under the radar because of his Duke days. There could've been a clandestine reasoning behind it between him and Doc. I feel like Austin Rivers is going to be something the league has to watch out for.
I don't think your butchering review of a new NBA player is gonna affect his play in any way. But I'll agree that he has a lot of work to do. That being said if he's already as bad as you paint him to be the only direction he's going is forward. He's gonna get better, it may not be drastic and it may not be allstar material but given the right mentorship/motivation he will. Keep in mind he was set up as a combo guard, which means he wasn't able to solidify his identity as either a sg or a pg.
Just look at his minutes before. He was a starter. Now, he is behind Gordon and Mason Jr in the SG pecking order. And rightfully so. He had his minutes and his chance. Time to work on his game now because no way are they making him a starter (or primary back-up) anymore this year. I'd do the same.
Ok first of all, Rivers started and got a lot of minutes before apparently being moved to a bench role because he was not doing well. Second, Davis was injured a good chunk of the start of the season and they don't play the same position anyway so Davis' minutes do not take away from Rivers'.
Not really, even though his play in the summer league is sub par, he has a lot of potential since he's still 19. The coaches decided to sit him more because at the first few games, he took a lot of hard hits and falls. They didn't want to aggravate his body more if he keeps experiencing that kind of play on the court.
have you watched him at all? he is showing some improvement. he's penetrating more and his passing has been much better than expected. his shooting is still off and yeah it's frustrating to watch. I read something about how his form is off from playing so much iso in college and now it'll take him a while to adjust to shooting off the ball. he's gonna take some work. the kid's only 19, it's a month in, and you're calling him a bust? SMH
I know but it's been a month now and he shows no signs of getting adjusted already. He was a starter for pete's sake. This is the kind of adjustment period you would expect from a 2nd or 3rd stringer from the bench. But whatever. Like I said, it's a long season. We'll see what happens.
fair enough. but you can't judge how he'll end up being by how long he's taking. he will take a long time because the way he played in college is so vastly different than how he's being asked to play now. he also has to bulk up to be able to penetrate and drive w/o getting beat to hell.
People are sayin he is overrated cuz of his dad thats bs cuz his bro jeremiah didnt even have minutes in Division II ncaa he stopped playing basketball btw
not Austin Rivers. he's been pretty much NBA-ready from the start. having a father like Doc Rivers really gives him a jump start 'cause of what Doc has gone through as a player and a coach as Austin's been around him the whole Journey.
The hate on this guy is incredibly unwarranted he can play ball and he deserves to be in the NBA period get over it
I wish him all best.
Rivers with Davis~~~~~Awesome~~~~Bright future~~~Go Go~~~blessing from Taiwan~~~
I want to live a life like this. I wish some day it would happen.
Ankle Drew work hard
YoungDrSuess yes. Thank you.
YoungDrSuess it's impossible. I'm not good, not tall, don't live in the us, about to leave in 2 days and haven't played ball here. But I'll still continue working anyway, you never know what could happen right?
got to play with him since he was in 6th grade, he def earned this
wow!! are you for real?
gonna be a great player in the NBA
What a amazing life he have. Bet that so many people give life to have something like him.
He is a true player.
This is amazing how the internet has provided us all this wonderful opportunity to watch young men like these start off their careers in High School, then get drafted into the NBA, then one day, becoming Legends in the NBA. This is the most hype ever for a rookie who was not a No. 1 draft pick.
Well, what about Kobe or Steph?
Difference was, Walton was a second round pick meaning the expectations were rather low to begin with. 32nd picks in the draft don't tend to stick around so the fact that Walton stayed in the NBA as long as he did actually meant he exceeded expectations.
Rivers on the other hand was a lottery pick. Much higher stakes.
your father is very proud of you !!! good Luck in nba
Being Doc's son sure gives him alot of media press.
went to school with this cat im glad he made it
yesssssss congratz man im so happy for him his gonna bee so sick :D

I got to say that NBA rooks series is pretty fun to watch ! :) I want moar !
The best father-son relationship... Thats why Boston and New Orleans are my favorite team... Maybe later, they can unite and just be New Orleans ^.^
Just wait till the season starts man!
Man on a mission.... I like it!
I didnt realise that Austin is a son of Doc untill now :DD
Good Attitude. Hope he stays healthy and does well!
i'm excited to see him play
Miss said that he is right now in my opinion the best basketball coach who is coaching a team there have been better in the past but he took duke an okay program and over the last decades has made them the number 3 program of all time according to espn

Austin and Anthony = UNSTOPPABLE!!!!
basketball is my life, nba is my dream
WTF! I just saw a skip ad button in the bottom left without watching 5 secs of it.

thank you!
Would love to have been coached by Mike Krzyzewski. Seems like the kind of coach who supports his players off-court too with personal life stuff.
thank you,very cool
oh my goodness i have never heard that one before
Austin Rivers and Anthony Davis play as the same team, this gonna be great can't wait to see him play this season on NBA
i wonder if new orleans went against boston who would doc coach to his son or his team
Yea kid don't worry bout your shooting form just continue chucking it at the rim until u master that... great advice

He's a good backup to Eric, he plays alright when coming off the bench, not 10+ points but still a nice option.
1:28 cool, I live like 2 blocks away from there
love him>>>>>
Think he needed one more year of seasoning. Would have liked to have seen him mature into a consistently dominant player in the ACC.
I can't wait to see him play against Boston his dad's team. Wonder if he would be able to play for Boston if he got traded.
A.R. Will be one of the greatest
Man he was ready to be drafted to the Raptors. Rocking the Canada Red and White.
Anyone know the name of the beat they play at the beginning of these videos.
someone could tell me what is the name of the song that starts at 40 sec??
Met this dude when he was schooling in Winter Park.
so what happens if rondo and austin get into...does Doc take his franchise pg's side or his son who is possibly a future star side
WTF I NEVER get ads ever...
Rivers and Davis = Dynamic Duo.
I'm really curious of what will Doc do when Celtics go up against Hornets while Austin is playing.
I think hes gonna become a very good all star point guard.
0:12 what a coincidence that the first flight was New Orleans... and this was before the draft.
WHY CNT THIS BE LONGER THAN 4 : 43 MIN?!
Awesome
Most classic comment I have ever seen on youtube for years!
Anyone know what shoes he's wearing with his camo shorts?
Austin Rivers seems like a really neat guy
Got his dad's "Not sure if he is looking at me" eyes
his numbers so far: 7-32fg 0-6(3pt)
Ok first of all, Rivers started and got a lot of minutes before apparently being moved to a bench role because he was not doing well. Second, Davis was injured a good chunk of the start of the season and they don't play the same position anyway so Davis' minutes do not take away from Rivers'.

Grant Hill. The DUKE Connections!!!
His dad must be very proud of him.
I think he's going to be good.

Celtics vs. NOLA games will be pretty damn good :P
I hope he isn't a bust. So much hype, imagine if he played bad.
how much you get paid?
already stupid to say but I have a feeling he is gonna be big
why even dislike this video ??
1:54 whos that?
New Orleans are gonna be boss
Are you Gonnen Style?
TRob video!

RIVERS!!!
I hate that the ppl at the draft don't let u take in the moment with ur family, it usually takes the next team a couple minutes anyway
Where's Chris Smoove?
i dont get it, i dont see bynum
wait is that brooks?
1:26
I can't seeing him being a bust! Cuz I'm sure doc taught him a lot!
3:03 meanwhile, my phone.. *forever alone*
okay, maybe not 4 or 5 but definitely not 10, he will be an all-star
Austin Rivers : Next Deron Williams
I think he has a good chance of being Rookie of the Year
People are sayin he is overrated cuz of his dad thats bs cuz his bro jeremiah didnt even have minutes in Division II ncaa he stopped playing basketball btw
