    Thank you Marina 😊, that was fun. Please keep up the great job you are doing on spreading the English language as it is dying and changing every day. I was a bookworm in a past life and always managed to knock out a good essay but never really got into grammar so I really appreciated your passing references to the particular tense of the verb being demonstrated. I liked that this test tested different aspects of English and even included idioms. I guess I won't be wanting to speak like an American until I visit the US and so will stick with a not so broad Stryne accent 🌏 for now.

    Hi, Marina, Useful and helpful test. I'd like to underline one thing: the C1/C2 part is really challenging!, Believe me! And this comment comes from a person who's been studing English for 11 years. and has been using English in her buiz for 26 years! In the 3rd section there're many words, expressions and phrasal verbs that I've never heard in my entire life.

    A, funnily enough, situation for me. I made five mistakes each in A1/A2 and B1. I thought, oh no, it's time to start from the beginning because my English is pretty lousy. I no longer wanted to continue with this test. But curiosity won out and I kept going. In parts B2 and C1/C2, I made one mistake each. I was impressed! Anyway, I will have to revise the beginning.

    Thanks a lot Marine for this wonderful test because it is a very complete test that can help you a lot to improve your English level. I am used to doing this kinds of tests because they have been my training to improve my English because that has helped me a lot to boost my degree. I am English teacher too and graduated more than one year ago and I have had my first experience as English teacher two months ago and it was amazing to work with children and teenagers who depended on my help to pass their school exams. So, I have to say that this text has seeemed very useful and entertaining to me and I have learnt some expressions that I didn´t know as " get the hang of something" or " drive up the wall". The mos challenging level to me has been B2 level because I have had some silly mistakes but I have learnt a lot with advanced level and I have got 3 mistakes. Thank you a lot for your motivation and your passion when it comes to learning English! It is very rewarding to find teachers as you because you have the most important thing: vocation.

    This kind of tests do not expose your real English level, your level depends on how much you can communicate with people and they got u. Do not feel overwhelmed if you didn’t get even the half of them correct. You’re here and you’re doing amazing despite your mistakes.🤍 you’ll get it all along the way!

    • @45dable
      @45dable Рік тому +5

      It's a good way to know if you can understand what the people say, but of course, the real test is to speak. You can read, write and comprenhend, but it's important to communicate and in UA-cam there is not way to make this teast (very overt I guess). Of couurse, if you understand this videos is good, you are going in good way.

      Yes, it is so. Speaking, communicating is more important. I can understand why Marina attach great importance to grammar, vocabulary, knowledge of idioms - because she was educated in Russia in the ex-USSR education system where the Grammar Translation Method prevailed. The method is good at teaching grammar and reading, but it's bad at teaching communication, actually communication is rare in the system. Of course, Marina herself speaks English fluently, but many others who learned English in Russia are not, communication in English is always difficult for them.

On the last one, i was able to find some answer (or almost answer like "but losing your mind over it" ) but only by taking more time that 10s. I learned english with manga and movie so i never practice. It's not a surprise i suck on grammar (and prononciations) but manage to understand basic expression.

    Hello Marina! I have a question about the must/have to. I've never heard about the fact that, in order to talk about something that we must do in the future, we must (hehe) use have to. Is that just something common by the grammatical point of view and it doesn't matter in the everyday life? like this is shocking to me. I've always learned that have to is more like a "moral obbligation" while must is an "imposition", without caring if it's about the past, now, or the future. I think i need a psychologist from now on!

      Umm, well done, but...
      You "made" some mistakes and "learnt" new stuff (Use past form of the verb for that)
      This test, which "helped" me "to" figure out my English level. (Do not forget using to for verbs which need to-infinitive".
      "Frequently" means doing something very often, you "follow" a youtube channel once, and check them frequently.
      You should say "Thank you" or "Thanks".

    I didn't even know the structure 'can't + have + p.p.' could have existed!!! Thank you, Marina, for mentioning it ❤️

      I’m a native English speaker (USA) and it is far more common to say she couldn’t have left. Can’t have sounds strange, at least for American English. In that sentence in particular, I would’ve said, “She must not have left yet because her phone is in the room”. Can’t sounds like there is no way it can happen, which isn’t true. She could’ve left and simply forgotten her phone, so ‘must not’ sounds more natural to me in this context. I hope that makes sense and helps! 😊 Good luck in your English learning journey!

    Kudos for not making this too easy. Most of the "advanced" tests I've taken were too easy for me (more like your upper-intermediate section), but your advanced part managed to make me sweat a bit :D

    I made 11 mistakes, just bcoz of lack of knowledge of vocabulary and English phrases. My Grammar was on point as I practiced it really hard few years back, hoping to learn more with you. Thanks for the video. Love from India 🇮🇳.
