That item about the new coaching position that can coach but not recruit takes me back to the Gerald Meyers days. There was always a story going around about Rob Evans doing all of the recruiting and they would stick Meyers in an attic somewhere until a kid signed, then bring Meyers out. 😄
False. Back in those days, Myers won SWC Championships, and were good. Texas Tech ALWAYS got the New Mexico player of the year--Bubba Jennings I believe, Vince Taylor, Jeff Taylor, Tony Benford and many lines of others each year........UNTIL Dave Bliss blew into "The Pit" and cheated and lied his way to corralling those players---you can see the line of demarcation from Myers' successful years, and when Bliss came into New Mexico job, Myers stopped getting those, and the program was mediocre for several years. Rob Evans DID get Geoff Huston, Mike Russell, and others, but it was Myers they came to play for.
@@BigBingFan Rob Evans did all of the recruiting. The person that was mostly responsible for getting Huston, Russell and any other N.Y. kids was actually Corky Oglesby. Do you know that Rob Evans is from Hobbs, N.M.? He was the one bringing in those N.M. kids. The Taylors, Benford, Steve Smith and Kent Williams were from Hobbs, right. Meyers was a great coach, he definitely coached them up, but his personality wasn't all that great and that's being kind. Speaking of Bliss, I still remember the night that Bliss started raising heck on some Tech players and Meyers getting so mad that during a time out, Meyers took off and jumped into the SMU huddle trying to get at Bliss. Greatness! Meyers gave them the fight and the X's and o's, but Evens did the recruiting.
Who are you thinking of? And if the great options are “steering clear” as you suppose, how could hiring someone on the perceived next level down be considered “settling”? Settling to me means taking a lesser option when a better one is feasible. Thanks for watching #GunsUp
@@LockedOnTexasTech , I would think not too many coaches want to come to a place that labels the last coach as a racist. Grant is a much lesser defense guru as Adams is. If you are saying this is the best that Texas Tech can get, then Texas Tech is not the premier job that many proclaim it to be.
Excluding Tyree Wilson, which Red Raider do you think has the best chance at a sustained NFL career?
He is one year away, but Shough
@@jaybuchanan2845 shough really could continue developing even after college and be a serious qb, lot of potential
Great show, guys. I’ve watched a few other schools’ Locked On shows, and y’all are far and away the best!
Thank you for the kind words, we appreciate you watching #GunsUp

Just a question, what were the roles of Adams past staff?? Unlike McGuire we never heard a word from Adams’ staff??
Press the like button y’all. Wreck Em
Guy CAN coach defense!
There was 3 or 4 different games in march madness where teams went 8-9-10 minutes scoreless
He beat Ok. St. and Wisconsin! Ugly or not
It definitely appears the great coaches are steering clear of Texas Tech. Texas Tech is settling.
