  • A fantastic cycling route from the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park to the historical market town of Kendal in Cumbria. This was one of our best rides to date and we have a habit of saying this on most of our rides. Map of ride www.google.com...
    In addition the bike ride I also camped at a well know campsite at Horton in Ribblesdale - Holme Farm which meant that we weren't to far from the Ribblehead viaduct which was on the route as we cycled on towards Dent and Sedbergh before we arrived at our destination which was the Farmhouse Kitchen for a spot of lunch. The route back took us over some rolling countryside passing by Oxenholme and then on to Kirkby Lonsdale with Ingleton and Settle following.
    The video comes with a narration, maps and some cycling banter and I hope it offers other keen cyclists some inspiration to get out there and give it a go yourself.

      Thank you so much Martin, I have been looking at sharing the GPX files in Google maps. Would this help for others to ride them do you think ? I am not sure.
      This ride is a pretty good one and the distance is not mega, if you know what I mean .

      @@MrDazP1adv3ntures in the past I have had trouble with gpx files and from memory, occasionally the map doesn't fully translate into Strava 200%. However, saying that, it's better than nothing. Google maps seem to have improved the routes and content for cyclists. The distance doesn't really matter, it is the joy of cycling in new places with the piece of mind that the roads are suitable for cyclists.

    Great video as ever. Being a cyclist who was brought up and used to live in the Pennies but now live in Dumfries and Galloway, your videos always remind me of tbe great places to ride around the Pennines. However, just wondered what bike lock do you use for your cafe stops as looks like a great bit of kit.

    • @MrDazP1adv3ntures
      @MrDazP1adv3ntures  2 роки тому +2

      It's a basic retractable wire lock Andrew which offers a little bit of extra security so long as you can still see the bike. It is avaible in Halfords www.halfords.com/cycling/bike-accessories/bike-locks/onguard-scooby-roller-scooter-lock-491678.html
      Thanks for your comments too. Me and Mike fancy a tour around the Mennock pass at some stage which is on our list of places to ride.

    Cracking stuff Daz. Today I rode 52 miles including that section from Kirkby Lonsdale to Oxenholme, pretty hilly as you say. There were so many familiar sections to me. I love it up there too, how could you not? Brough is pronounced Bruff Daz.
    I did the 3 peaks in June, started and finished at Ribblehead at 6.30am start to beat the heat. Consumed 3 ltrs of water and even bought an ice cream in Horton. Plus about 10 granola bars. Strangely I haven’t wanted one of those in ages.

      Well done for the half century today Sophie, especially on them rolling hills and thank you for the Brough pronunciation I never knew it was "Bruff"
      The Yorkshire three peaks is a proper tough walk too. I have done it on quite a few occasions and each time I said never again. The bit I am enjoying now is being able to cycle down the roads that I once looked at whilst being high up on the summits of the places we visit.
      Hopefully it will be a bit cooler for the next few weeks and we can get back to normal again.
