Rupert wants to add that he is sporting a 1930s reproduction suit that includes a very full pair of plus fours. Thank you Rupert: I was extra surprised when the words "and he is sporting a .... .. long length coat" did not appear after the introduction of your very fine self.Tut-tut, is all I can say.
The encyclopedia trick is brilliant. Even older encyclopedias are available very cheap in the US, unless they are very old with embossed leather bindings.
uhh, I love the book-back idea! And I'd also like to see how you did attach the frame to your monitor. I do have my working space in my bedroom, and I really would like to let it look less modern...
I just instantly fell into adoration for your upcycled camera bag. No words. It is So good. If you are ever stuck for an idea for a video you could make another one... Thank you for the tour. Lovely space to be productive in. Well done. - Cathy (&, accidently, Steve), Ottawa/Bytown/Pimisi
WOW!!!! You have given me some ideas. I truly like the picture frame around the monitor. The book covering the docking station is awesome. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Using book backs to hide tech, monitor in a picture frame and then inspirational memes in the style of classical paintings are all absolutely genius ideas that I am 100% stealing
I love the art studio walls. Probably my favourite colour for any interior. To anyone who isn't familiar, that specific shade of green has a kind of anti-glare effect on everything in the room. It's generally used by painters who paint human subjects, as opposed to plain black walls which are better for composing still life paintings. The reason it's green is that it provides a nice balance for (pinkish) skin tones. It also looks very nice.
You're so incredibly creative! Thank you for sharing your workspace with us! Hiding things with books is incredibly clever and classy. And with your keyboard, if possible you could remove the keys and paint them whatever color you prefer and replace them, and paint the frame of your keyboard too. You can customize it without getting a novelty one! 🙂 Loved this video, your aesthetic is beautiful.
It Looks so good! And it's surprising how many vintage treasures one can find on eBay Kleinanzeigen for relatively cheap. But they are ALWAYS to be picked up somewhere from the 4th floor 😂. I love the Idea with the hidden Book-Boxes. It's a fun thing to upsicle and I suppose everybody has owned and old enceclopedia at some point 😅
Your style is very much like my own! I host an esoteric channel and enjoy dressing in 30s style suiting as well. The Art Nouveau is gorgeous. Thank you for bringing back a sense of elegance into our world.
I love you den/crib and getting to see your suits, hats, collars etc. Love the wall colour and furniture finds too. Using the spines of the old books to cover a storage box was very clever. Nobody would guess your corset was in there :) Rupert looked very stylish!!
the poor books. (i get it but still :D ) ...but after the whole video: i might get a big old book for my desk. the idea to hide a docking station in there is great! so lovely to see your work room up close
I LOVE your workspace. Do clever hiding things behind old book covers. I live in an 1858 farmhouse with my youngest daughter, and because of an eye condition I was told to get the largest TV I could afford, that was 12 years ago. I still have that 60 inch TV and have only just recently found a beautiful frame to go around it, but the NBN box sitting next to it is soooooo ugly. Well I'm going to go find the oldest book cover and place it around it. That's just a genius idea, thank you 😊❤️
You have an amazing setup. And have given me a few ideas for the future for my study/home office. p.s. If you like Irish whiskey you need to visit Dublin and do the Jameson distillery tour. I highly recommend it.
@@IDKline lol I started on a univac III. It didn't have a terminal, just punch cards. It could do a tape to print job as well as run my long distance billing program
@@IDKline no. Bell Canada bought every univac III in the world and kept them going for years to run their billing system on. That was my first job. I applied to work with my former teacher in R&D but they stuck in this, supporting the billing run in assembler instead. When I wanted to transfer I was told only if I showed enthusiasm for this crap. So I quit on the spot. I am retired however.
Since you went to the effort of framing the monitor, I'm surprised you're not using a keyboard with round typewritter style keycaps, like one of the Retro Classic, Retro Compact or MK Retro by Azio. Though not quite as elegant as the Azio keyboards. You can also just buy typewritter style keycaps on eBay to retrofit (pun intended) any keyboard. The ones by Azio are vey much a "proper" keyboard. And same for the keycaps as they fit whatever keyboard you put them on. It doesn't take long to get used to the typing feel according to most vids I've seen on them.
So apparently I need to move to Europe if I want cheap antique furniture. Because everything shown in this video would cost thousands upon thousands in Australia. Like- between $5k-10k each. No joke. Hearing you got those armchairs for €20! They might not fetch quite the price of the other vintage furniture, but I’d still be looking at $2k-$4k each. There’s a reason my house is full of IKEA!
I was in Wales a few years back and it's even cheaper there. Apparently, old estates are sold on a regular basis and the new owners usually don't want to keep the old furniture. Some people in Germany drove to the UK several times a year to collect stuff and sell for 10x the price here. And this is still cheaper than what you have to pay it seems.
I think I've got the same Mucha Calendar in my sewing room xD Speaking of which: Where do you hide your sewing stuff? (btw: I'm always amazed how much smaller rooms do look from a "webcam" angle vs. the real one. )
It’s my dream to do my office space like this and I already have some pieces assembled. Unfortunately, personal circumstances do not allow me to really do this.
@@Vintagebursche ja kann ich mir vorstellen, aber Probier mal Conny Legal GmbH. Wohne in Berlin in einer Altbauwohnung in Wedding und die haben es geschafft meine Kaltmiete um 195 Euro zu senken. No Werbung. Solltest du aber nur machen wenn du bei ner Großen Gesellschaft bist. LG

The encyclopedia trick is brilliant. Even older encyclopedias are available very cheap in the US, unless they are very old with embossed leather bindings.
I have realised that I also need inspirational memes on the wall behind my monitor. In gilded frames.
I was about to comment the same hahaha
uhh, I love the book-back idea! And I'd also like to see how you did attach the frame to your monitor. I do have my working space in my bedroom, and I really would like to let it look less modern...
There are basically metal hooks on the back of the frame at the top, so it can be attached and detached from the monitor easily.
Thanks for asking @V. Rosenbaum; I never thought that this would be a thing; and yet, here we are - contemplating it, after one video.

This is glorious! I wish had a spare room to turn into something very much like this.

"its only when the subwoofer inhales the cat that the beat fucks"

"Erst wenn der Subwoofer die Katze inhaliert" omg, so ein gutes meme. cooler workroom, wird man ganz neidisch ;)
The Mozart meme broke me. Did not expect THAT to hang on your walls. Nice one.

The "quote" by Mozart had me in stitches :D love your room! Especially the vintage workstation!
