If the rubber for the little circle check valves is hard to get through the hole, use some grease and wrap dental floss a few times around it. Then push on the back, while pulling the floss in the front, and it pops in easy. Some are really hard to get in. I've also chucked a q tip with a little polish compound and ran it through the hole, to get the corossion and make it a little smoother to put the little rubber button in. Good luck!
Since when i buy sleds i usually buy two of the same machines strip them both take all the better parts into one and i found that thats cheaper than trying to buy everything for just one old sled ,that is why i have a couple crates of parts that are still good and have never taken these apart ,simple enough though and you know what you've got when your done ,and any sled part store will have these in stock i imagine eh? oh remember to put that needle jet back : )
So I just bought a new snowmobile today, drove it around at the guys house for maybe 2-3 miles everything seemed okay. The sled has all new fuel lines and the fuel pump is nice and clean so it looks like someone had it out recently. Loaded it up and took it home. Got home started it up and drove it around for maybe another 2 miles then it started loosing power almost like it was running out of fuel. Pulled over opened the hood and seen gas spraying out of the main line from the tank to the fuel
wow i have pretty much the same lift pump in my kubota tractor but mines mechanically driven, had broken check valves so i had to buy a whole new pump for $90? whered you get the rebuild kit from?
pump so I shut it off changed the line. Turned the gas valve back on and it didn't fill right away so I pulled it over now its not getting fuel. Think the fuel pump needs to be rebuilt?
The rubber plugs were so hard and difficult to work with, I broke the rubber and bent the membrane. Edit: I bought another new fuel pump repair kit, but this time I drilled out the rubber plug holes a bit and used some 2t oil as lubricant as I pushed in the plugs.
Is there a way to test the fuel pump pressure? My 1998 arctic cat 600 starts after we put gas in the cylinders, but shuts down right after 30 seconds. I rebuilt the carbs today but that didn't change a thing. Same problem even after the carbs got rebuilt. The carbs were pretty clogged up too. The main air jets were totally clogged.
Just rebuilt mine yesterday, those check valves are wayy tight..used a allen wrench to help press it in, accidently broke through. Didn't know if it mattered or not...put back together, back in the sled and doesn't work.
.... but you assembled the gaskets in the reverse order in which they came out! The original order was: back plate - orange (thick ) gasket - diaphragm - thin black rubber gasket - centre body - thin black rubber gasket - diaphragm - orange (thick) gasket - top plate. The re-assembly interposed the orange (thick) gaskets with the thin black rubber ones. This video has been up for 11 years with 125,000 views - I feel special, or perhaps I'm stupid......
I have that same fuel pump on my mxz 679 an fuel is squirting out of the top hexagon shaped thing on the top when I try to start it any ideas what's wrong

@AticSynthe Ya I love the tunes, I'll be using a bunch of their music in my upcoming videos.
Excellent video. I found soaking the little rubber pins in hot water or at least warming them up may them more pliable for assembly

hoping the pump rebuild will solve my sled not staying running, thanks for the video
Ronco160 did it?
@Supramaniac24 Any snowmobile shop will have that kit - it cost me 7 bucks.
Very helpful!!
yup it matters:)
check the pickup line in the tank.
Hey thanks for watching!
@cubbeezx Thanks!

@FrankaDith I have tons of parts, just trying to get rid of them, parts for everything! SHould just make a run to the scrap yard:)
PowerModz are you in the Ottawa area? I have an 86 citation lse and clutches are worn. Do you have any I could buy?

Just did the same thing, did you find that the hole was a problem?
Also just did the same thing. Horrible design. How are you supposed to install the plug without breaking it while also keeping the membrane unbent?
