"Wear my lips, ass and hair like a costume" favorite line, cause it's so true
Like black women don't dye their hair blonde, straighten their hair, bleach their skin. GMAFB
kleeamd82 we don’t wanna be y’all ... y’all forget y’all don’t have culture
@@kleeamd8274 for years we were told we weren’t beautiful being manipulated into thinking that and being forced to change the way we look to fit in imprinting that message into our children to make things easy and then passing it down now that black women are final accepting themselves and their culture is amazing then for a white women to go and take that away and wear us like a costume it’s infuriating I get that people now see our beauty it’s nice but you can appreciate without appropriating
@@keekeeheehee3773 yeah.......ok. my family is Italian-american, Italians don't have their own culture??
Irish-Americans don't have their own culture? German-Americans don't have their own culture? French-Americans don't have their own culture?
How ironic that you sound more ignorant than the people you accuse of ignorance
@@P.Mon432 nobody's wearing you like a costume..... such bs. Everywhere in the world, people are influenced by and have admired other people's nationalities, cultures and styles. Ever since the beginning of time, explorers who travelled to other lands and countries brought back with them some of the traditions, fashions, foods, lifestyles etc.
Especially in America, the great melting pot, where everyone's culture at some point rubs off on everyone else. Americans are also heavily influenced by pop culture and celebrities, celebrities whose beauty is idoloizedand made to be the societal standard whether they are black or white, and the public wants to dress, act and be like them.
So save it with the SJW BS . Culture, traditions, fashions of every nationality have been shared, copied, borrowed and admired over time since the dawn of time.
The eyeliner women everywhere today wear was borrowed from Egyptian Queen Cleopatra - if you're not Egyptian, will you continue wearing eyeliner?
Corsets and braziers were borrowed from the French - should women who are not of French lineage stop wearing bras and lingerie?
Italian explorer Marco Polo brought back pasta from China - should we, who arent Chinese, stop eating spaghetti? Should we stop eating Chinese food? Should non-Italians stop eating pizza?
In Ancient Greece, curly hair was the epitome of beauty, so much so, that wigs were made popular in 17th century Europe by King Louis XIV of France, where everyone all went absolutely mad for wigs that gave them big, dramatically voluminous hair.
Modern bathrobes are derived from Japanese kimonos - should
non-Japanese stop wearing them?
The examples go on and on. Where is the line drawn?
The exchange of ideas, styles, and traditions is one of the tenets and joys of a modern, multicultural society. Throughout human history, when groups have come together, they have imitated each other. Typically, this is seen as progressive. Of course "culture appropriation" can be negative, if it's done mockingly. But the way you describe it seems likes it being done out of admiration. Most people
consider imitation a form of flattery. It's virtually impossible for different groups to live together and yet primly refrain from imitating what’s good or interesting about one another. Shared commonality and adoration is what brings about unity. It was the shared enjoyment, between blacks & whites, of rhythm & blues music that helped to end segregation, as black & whites congregated together at these venues.
Also, last time I checked, blacks didn't have big asses and full lips on lock. I've seen plenty of white ladies with naturally big asses and full lips and plenty of black women with pancake asses and thin lips. It all comes down to genetics, body type and where on the body fat accumulates.
Her mind is beautiful....😍😍😍👏👏👏👏👏👏
+Sade Tucker She's an idiot
+THEWALRUSBALL Oh wow so are you
Jordan Teliaferro Hahaha!! Witty
Isn't it? :^) I hope she'll write a book one day.
lol you gotta do better than that nowadays.... that was weak.
"Ain't I Liberia?" Thank you for recognizing us sis.
Shouldn't it be aren't I Liberian? You can't be a country not matter how excepting you are of fat people.
It's slag man, it's fine dude.
+Kelven Optimus Maximus shes trying to make a point
Wow I'm bad at English, accepting not excepting.
+Kelven Optimus Maximus ppggg
Her mind is beautiful and so is she.....
I have a friend that keeps say that there is not one less protected and more disrespected than the black woman. I hate how correct she is.
Jasmin Gentry Brother Malcolm said that in his Autobiography. It’s still true today, sadly
She is so enthralling to listen to! I didn't even recognize the six minutes going by, I was too busy listening to her! Beautiful, hilarious woman!!
Maddie Bolland I didn’t notice that it was six minutes until I read your comment 😂
If this girl doesnt become a comedian idk why. She is amazing
Kai Davis is everything and more. Protect her at all costs.
I have fell in love with her words, her thought process is something I wish I had
Ain't this Haiti? I almost cried, girl. Thanks for including my country in this beautiful performance
Wish I could have had her back in that classroom. I know what that's like. Love her poetry. It's so real.
This deserves so much more than 2k views 👏
Marina Desiree it’s 427k views now
her mind is beautifully open
i am so glad to hear this perspective - its been hard for me because i am a minority of sorts but for me feminism is a harder driving force, for me personally - i understand the need to be separated in the sense that there are separate needs but unity is important too - we can share in our similarities and learn from our differences
I been proud of procrastinating online ever since I came across a clip of Kai Davis about 2 or 3 years ago! She's FIRE!
This teacher never read Kimberle Crenshaw, did he. She's so iconic, she invented the idea of intersectionality which was initially created around the idea that black women are intersectionally oppressed in ways that black men and white women aren't. Shes so so good.
Damn...She's so powerful. She just made me see a whole different world.
Kia Davis,Porsha O, Crystal V. Are life
Jasmine mans as well !! 😊
Why doesn't she have a UA-cam channel?!

When I tell you i cried real tears. This was absolutely beautiful, Amazing!
Whew, bringing this one back to the timeline
Intersectionality is so important. I loved this
Kai is Awesome
I love how the beg. is just her talking, just her talking about her day. Its not even poetry, rhyming Cat Hat Bat, not a thousand words stuffed inside 2 mins- its just her presence. And i love it.
Kai Davis has always challenge the true definition of what beauty is. Her brain is so beautifully wired, it's admirable.
I have been called "black beauty" since I was 6. I know that I am a "I am a black beauty". And I am Proud To Be a WomanBlack is beautiful
She is a queen
Thank you for this poem, played it over and over 4years ago and i play it again today as women and children are dying at the hands of men in my country(South Africa). It's been a never ending battling, black women aren't only fighting racism but for our safety too. Please, pray with us🙏🏽
One of the best spoken words I've heard in a while.
Reminds me of Frederick Douglas suggesting the women's suffrage movement come after that for emancipation..both interesting and reasonable, so to speak, points of views. The whole debate going on in the comments is infuriating though
Every word she says is so powerful. I need her poetry in my life.
I love her , i swear
Kai is so amazing!!

Love your points and views. Keep debating- even if you're the only trifecta to hold it down.
