whats up man, collect calls is pretty underrated since it’s only featured on the apple music version of this album. check it out its pretty intense. i believe its supposed to be like an alternate ending to good kid.
respect to your dad. its amazing to see how quickly he has changed his preconceptions of hip hop/rap. he doesn’t brush anything off quickly anymore he is much more interested in hearing the message/ understanding the meaning. hes seeing a whole new side because of keeping his mind open.
Your explanation for sing about me is probably the best out of all the reactors. The juxtaposition of both male female perspectives and then following it with falling into the same cycle that their siblings went into was perfect 👍🏼
I love these father/son vids. It’s so dope to open someone’s eyes to a genre of music or culture they particular didn’t know about or had preconceived notions about before and watch it completely change in front your eyes. Salute
I love your dad. I love the way he can identify the universality of the experiences shared by Kendrick along with the musical value of it. He seems like such a down to earth and honest person; he isn’t the kind of dad who acts like he’s perfect and always did everything “right.” I hope to be a bit more like him in my parenting.
Sing about me when the girls voice starts fading away after she just said “ill never fade away” is symbolism for her actually slowly dying in real life . So like her sister she also died in this field , the only difference is that she died from being sick cause she didnt wanna go see the doctor “did i tell you that i physically feel great , a doctors approval is a waste of time i know im straight”
@@KKruki incredible album, one or two songs that i can’t listen to without cringing. with that being said i still appreciate those songs because kendrick is the most talented person who has touched a microphone.
The back seat free style reminds me of how my cousins would come back home drunk and they would ramble on about stuff they aspire to be and their shortcomings. There was something oddly wholesome, yet unsettling about that.
It’s been very cool to see Dad open his mind to Kendrick. He’s the GOAT. I’m a 42 year old, and I can honestly say Kendrick is special. If given the chance he makes an impact.
Great reaction! It's amazing to watch your father go from "I don't get how anyone can like music where someone is just talking" to this level of appreciation for music where someone is "just talking". From "u" forward he recognized the art and appreciated it for the masterful work that it was. Kendrick sets the bar very high for rappers you might consider introducing your father to in the future, but I can't think of anyone better to convince someone take the artform seriously. I hope you can manage to get a DAMN. reaction in before the new album comes out next week
Just found you guys and am watching the Kendrick all in a row…..it’s amazing to see Poppa go from Wesley’s theory to bobbing his head on backseat freestyle…. This is by far my favorite reaction channel. Poppa’s authentic critiques and reactions are everything. Thanks guys. 😊
Listening to this in 2012, I was 16!!! when I listened to I didn't knew who Kendrick was, so I searched and my mind blew up when I noticed this was his 2nd album and thought "Ain't no way your second album this damn good."

Great work guys! Love first time listens, especially of top tier and my favorite rapper. Gotta take him thru the J Cole Journey aswell. Keep up the good work guys!
Kendrick is a wonderful artist to get your dad to listen to for learning the art of rap. I would say you both should do Lupe Fiasco from Food & Liquor up to his Drogas Wave album in order. It would be great down the line and I am curious to see your dad’s thoughts on learning that there was a rapper proud of being Muslim as much as Kendrick and Kanye are of being Christian. It is really cool.
One of these days Kendrick is going to explain how much Mac Mall's first album "Illegal Business?" inspired some of this album. I don't know if anyone else can see it.
The first time I heard "sing about me" I cried. When the girl said "I'll never fade away, I'll never fade away, I'll never fade away"... and her voice starts to fade because she clearly has caught HIV... it's so deep
Best story telling I’ve heard from Kendrick and in music as a whole and it still isn’t his best (still a masterpiece) and he probably has better to come hopefully 🤞
The reference to the laced blunt was about the blunt being laced with PCP (MC Eiht used the slang terms 'sherm' and 'buck nakeds')...Think about the movie Friday when Smokey was smoking weed with the Mexican guys and he took off his clothes and was running up the street erratically. That blunt was laced with PCP or 'dust'.
I listened to this album about a year or so later cause at the time of release everybody played Kendrick and it felt like they were forcing it on me so I just didn't listen to it! I like to take my own time to listen to music so I gave it a listen about a year later and I loved this Album quite instantly I think it was just like a breath of fresh air from most of the music coming out around that time so this album clicked for me instantly
