I’d think most would have been going to a wash house if they didn’t already have some form of electric washing machine in the home by the 40’s. Even during the war, I can’t see the women going to work and then coming home to do more work via manual washing. Take it to the wash house on the weekend, no fuss.
God, and I hate doing laundry in THIS day and age..
