Believe it or not there is a psychology behind it. I don't remember the amount but it goes like this Little amount of money: 0-$1 Highly likely to keep Medium amount of money: $2-$10 Chances to keep highest Large amount: $10-$50 Will try to find you but will keep if not Very large amount: $50+ Will work hard to find you and may not even use it if it $500+
It's not that bad, about what I would have expected. I think a more interesting experiment would be putting real looking ID and stuff in there to see if people would at least return the wallet without the money when they see that you need it back. But an empty wallet with just 100Ksh... honestly I might have just kept it too because it doesn't seem worth the effort returning it. Also if someone's poor I can understand them taking the money. Of course, making the wallets look more real would be a lot more work with 100 different wallets. The idea is really good anyway, more people should do this around the world so that we can get more data.
@@AFRICAAVENGERS Here in the US your cash gets swiped as a "finders fee" and you MIGHT get it mailed back to you either with or without your ID and cards.
@@AFRICAAVENGERS I think that's wrong, it's really too low of an amount, some people are not going to bother because firstly it would be work to return it to you and secondly they know even if you're poor you're still going to survive losing Ksh100, it's not the end of the world. Cool experiment anyway!
those stats are 0% exploitable. The way you drop your wallet changes everything, what is inside also, not money but your id and stuff. If ther'se nothing, less people would call you for sure.
iam from mombasa and 60-70% are not poor but very very poor they can not even afford a meal a day and 100 shilling will buy food for 2 or 3 day so hunger and poverty comes before honesty this video does not prove anything so if you want to make a video about honesty social experiement then you should not do it in a poor area go do it in beverly hills thank you
@FRUSGÅTE yes here the people wont snatch the phone just like that but if we drop our belongings they will says that belongs to them you can see it in youtube videos 😂 proud to be an indian but i hate modi😌

Nice concept. I wish you could upload more on the people you filmed picking the wallets ... hoping you also interacted with them.
I hoped it so. But I couldn't get that much.

Np! :)
We can't because you're right.
It sucks knowing most people would be willing to steal from you. It makes trusting people very hard.
welcome to africa!
Most people in Africa will steal given a chance
@暁アブラハム umm yah that too

It kinda amazed me that 14 called back and even if it was just for 1usd.
I think the amount of money doesn't matter for that. Well, I didn't try it.
@@AFRICAAVENGERS they may think it's too much hassle just to return $1 to a person. But nice experiment regardless.

you beat me to it. I've seen such experiments from us and people are not honest. keep in mind that in Kenya someone has to use cash to make that call

I so love your concept. Interesting
In Japan that would be around 99-10
...in my country (Italy) I would say 30-50
What if some of those wallets were legitimately just never found?
Think you would have to do this a few times to compare results.
Try the same thing in nairobi eastleigh
