This comp was at Sharks- I was there as a 10 year old grom with my 12 year old brother. Midnight Oil were there and performed, I won a surfboard in the raffle- my first thruster (I had surfed for about 6 months on a Bare Nature single made in Byron, bought at Les Purcell Surf shop for $90) The board I won was a Power Design (probably donated) made by local Mick Hamilton from Peregian Surf Shop. My Dad bribed our way into the competitors area with a box of grapes (he owned a fruit veg business)- we met some of the surfers, we looked up to their shredding, a memory of a time that surfing meant being at peace with ourselves. Thanks for the vid.
Oh wow this awesome. I have never seen a left like that on the sunshine coast, I am thinking its either dead mans at mooloolaba or caloundra somewhere, I did"nt surf Caloundra hardly at all in my youth.
@@vhssurfvault5665 Ok I can see how that is possible, Back in the day I remember Maroochy could have some epic waves, as long as the stars and universe would line up ;). Maybe right hand side of the surf club or further down near sharks. Had the longest barrel of my life there.

Very cool story, glad you can relive it with this footage.
Fantastic! Some of those images where at "Beyond Blazing Boards". Great!
Yes correct, however the movie was called Wave Of the Future, in Australia.
