  • ANI/ANA has several portions. The diode encoder matrix is all done on the 48 volt side. It takes a "1-of-200" contact bank closure on the linefinder
    switch, and translates that into 8-bit binary using a matrix constructed using
    (384) diodes. The line I.D. numbers are 1 through 200, which translates
    to 01 through C8 in hexadecimal. I.D. 00 is reserved for testing.
    The hex number is sent over to the table where the 3 protoboards are.
    There, these hex numbers are fed into the translation table, which is a
    2732A EPROM that takes the raw line I.D. number and translates it to the
    actual telephone number that the automated Digitalker voice says
    and which appears on the flashing single readout as the number is announced. No processor. Discrete logic.
