We want to make sure that everyone has a fun time at the beach, but safety always comes first. So please, listen to our warnings and swim between the flags. Let's make sure we all have a great day at the beach!
Can you put the year that the clips were filmed please? Or the date it first aired on tv?
You guys have the patience of a saint. One thing that could help with the language barrier is those language translators you speak english into and it plays back in whatever language you set it to.
Great job keeping everyone safe.
Y'all are amazingly patient and kind.
@@thedreadpiratefisherman5325 yes those devices that are always great around salt water hand signals and learning words from common languages is much much better
H saying “Do you talk in your sleep mate” and “your best view is your back view” is so satisfying. Such a great bloke

The lady that kept drowning herself on 3 separate occasions thats insane. She needs to be placed in a mental hospital or something cuz why tf would she do that 😅😭😭

@@nyct0phile what makes you think I'm unfamiliar with that disorder ? I'm also not diagnosing anyone, this person could suffer from any number of different personality disorders or circumstances. The poster asked why someone tried to drown themselves 3 times and I am suggested that repeated impulsive, risk-taking behaviour and attempted self harm are symptoms of Borderline personality disorder. Do you disagree with this ?
I'd have an exceptionally hard time not punching the first guy in the face.

I feel sorry for the lifeguards they work so hard and yet there are nuisances that just love to make peoples lives harder
You’ll see it more and more as Australia Imports Third World detritus
There’s always nuisances that’s just the world we live in

What’s crazy is that the friend told them she was deaf aswell.
this is what I deal with almost every day as a pool lifeguard and like we get it, it's a nice day to go to the beach or pool BUT there are dangerous things in the sea like sharks, killer whales, jellyfish etc. and as for swimming pools, sure it's safer than beaches BUT you can still drown especially when your feet can't touch the ground
I don’t know if it is the same in Australia , but in America, stealing life guard vehicles is the same charges as stealing a police car or fire truck. They should have been arrested.
And cops patrolling beaches it wouldn’t of happened. This whole video and I am like where are the cops! Our lifeguards are kids and get cops involved from crazies. Also you could be arrested for drinking on non private beaches. And private non state ones still no glass.
@@rachellefebres4183 here at bondi, the lifeguards working here are fully trained adults and if there ever was a problem that the boys couldn't handle, the police are right across the beach and a phone call away to help deal with the problems.
Aussie cops purely focus on road traffic incidents. Everything else barely matters.

Yeah I seen this at lot with young man and teenagers 😢so sad.
Just trying to act cool and show off, some of the worst people
I never thought of the perspective of: being a good swimmer means you should lead by example. I always just thought to take responsibility of myself when at the beach. In the future I’ll try to keep in mind that other people might follow my example without having the same capacity
That's a lovely attitude Mate but you shouldn't have to be responsible for others stupidity. Once you're an adult you should be making your own decisions based on your own intelligence
Yeah, that's a nice way to get survivors guilt when somebody drowns and you don't go into the water to rescue them because you don't want to drown as well.
You're responsible for yourself end of story this kind of thinking is destructive.
Facts you have to be American too lol 😂 Florida lifeguards aren’t going in a ripe current for you. They have flags for a reason. Happened few weeks ago. Police helicopters 🚁 told him to get out and gave him a $500 ticket. Lol while a cop on a four wheeler awaited him. Before hurricanes they can’t stop people but no one is saving you either.

Same! 4 years in retail and over a decade in hospitality. I am definitely more like H 🤣
My first rescue/first aid at the world's longest freshwater beach, Wasaga, was for a person that had stepped on glass. Early 80s. First thing in the morning, wrecked their holiday. Later in the week they showed me 20 stitches the local Vet put in the arch of the foot. (He was actually a local, and very retired Dr., but we nicknamed him the Veterinarian.) 1:15
That is why glass containers were banned on CA beaches years ago.
Awesome
@@jeannerogers7085alcohol as is regardless of container is banned on almost all public beaches in Australia.
Not to mention most streets in most cities are alcohol free zones in themselves.
You can be booked for having an open can on practically any public street.
For now....Victoria is changing that from this November.
I can’t believe people are dumb enough to shatter glass on a beach. So disappointing.
@@a-ghost-named-Anna The area wasn't far from a bar. We picked up a fair bit of glass around there. Usually a long weekend involved when the park security guys were busy elsewhere. Bar staff would scour the area too, they didn't get to work until near noon though. Episodes were few but it generally wrecked someone's day.
it’s so weird seeing how people are so casual about getting rescued in australia, here in the US when I’ve made rescues people are always so embarrassed about it
H is absolutely relatable. We all want to be Harries, but deep down we're H.

“Tearing down the beach at 100mph”
*Is literally running faster than the buggy* 😂😂
True tho
I swim on the Sunshine Coast at Peregian Beach, Sunshine Beach, Noosa, Granite Bay, and on rare occasions at A-Bay. I take my hat off to the job you all do at Bondi. The sheer number of people per square metre of sand blows my mind!!! Even though we’ve grown up at the beach, we always read the board with the surf conditions, swim between the flags, swim to our ability, and keep an eye on each other… because it’s what you do.
The ocean is a fickle beast and not to be underestimated.
Thank you for your service, bless you all x
I love it when they have to give them some words 😂
The problem with tourists is they mistakenly and in many cases, tragically believe that smooth water is safer than white water. There should be a video on every flight arriving about safety at the beach.
Problem with many tourists is their countries, traditions, cultures, geography, etc. don't support learning to swim. In the west we often take growing up by the beach, lake, or pool during the summers for granted. I've been to China and you literally can't find a public beach, lake, or pool which is open. Being out in the sun is shunned. Swimming isn't encouraged, and many live in cities.
@@BW022Similar cases in the US, many of them are in landlocked areas (though they can and do have access to pools, rivers and lakes) many just never bother to take swimming lessons, because they "don't like getting wet" 🙄
@@BrightWulph I live on an island and everyone here swims. As I kid, I went to a summer camp on the mainland and was surprised how many kids from the city couldn't swim -- at least not comfortably. We were canoeing on a lake and they wanted to stay close to the shore. I asked why, and it was because they were afraid they couldn't swim to shore. I was shocked and asked why they got into a canoe if they couldn't swim across the lake? (It was about a 1/3 of a mile across). Yes, if you don't know how to swim, you don't know your limits, the dangers, have confidence and the property concerns, etc.
@@BrightWulphI've met many, many people that told me they can't swim.
We all live a 15 min drive from the beach....
H was one of the best life guards to ever be on bondi rescue.
Man I miss H. He always knew how to do it the tough love way
Tell me he retired. Don't tell me anything else.
H retired, he’s living a peaceful life. However Terry, one of the lifeguards has died from cancer unfortunately.
Lifeguards are highly underrated, thank god for shows like this and movies on Lifeguard to show the world what they do.
They’re athletes… the work from dusk till dawn… they’re wet most of the time and under the hot sun.
Some are in boring beaches while others are stressing in the popular beaches. Regardless, the ocean is something you should never underestimate = A lesson learned from this show.
Whether you’re sprinting into the water with your float aid (sorry, I don’t know what it’s called) and pulling someone to safety out of the water or just going over and verbalising to people that they’re being idiots, as far as I’m concerned it’s the same thing, you’re saving lives. Being a beach lifeguard must be one of the hardest jobs ever.
I am surprised to see glass bottles allowed on the beach. Can't do that in CA.
They aren't allowed here either, people just break the rules. It's a big issue during peak summertime with all the extra riffraff around.
This is a shout out button for "The H Man"
Addicted to notoriety and face time on tv and the internet. For crying outloud how thick are these excuses? It's awful how ignorant they are to the danger and legit job these lifeguards are doing.
Perhaps filming a TV show adds to the stupidity.
I always think the same way. If someone with 'authority' over a certain thing (lifeguards, police, ambulance etc) tells you something you listen to these people and respect what they say. They don't tell you something bc they think it's fun or bc they're smarter, they tell something bc it's important (for you). As a nurse who has been threatened countless times by patients (ofc also respected by a lot) I want to thank all the lifeguards for everything they do
"...and then they baptised him." 😂
The girls that took the Buggy should be charged and given the maximum sentence.
It’s reality TV. That seemed staged

Always wondered why the team has so much trouble w/ different languages - the Lifeguards need to get some translators for the major languages they see - and have this programmed into a voice recorder they can play into the microphones to get people's attention. Even something in multiple languages with 'Warning, you are swimming in a dangerous rip current please swim to the side I am pointing to and come closer to shore' - Quick, simple, and do this in the most common languages seen over the years which look to be Chinese, Mandarin, Korean, Japanese, Filipino, Indian, Spanish, German, French so they can quickly get people to safety.
I wish I could go help I know most of these languages
They have tried this before they uploaded the messages to be played when tourists log into wifi unfortunately it fell on deaf ears i think in the future they may require the lifeguards to have foreign language certification aswell as the fitness aspect too
@@ayyubmahomed-lb5iqif your being serious that is fking extremely impressive
Good idea, I agree
I recently saw a video where a Chinese tourist needed rescuing, then shortly after that his friend group went into the water while it was dangerous, and the lifeguard asked the guy to translate for his group.
Even then when the guy told them in Chinese, multiple times, they didn't listen.
Half an hour later that group, including the guy that they rescued and asked to translate, got into trouble, and part of the group needed saving.
Similar with the Korean kids being told by their teacher where they can and can't swim, in Korean. Yet they still go out and do it again. From kids I can sort of understand they don't want to listen and don't see the danger. But there's also plenty of adults that just don't listen.
Sometimes it isn't about a language barrier, but simply because of ignorance
"Yeah we were arguing and I ended up swallowing a mouthful of water" the nerve
In Australia you even get 7 in your top 5?! Everything is better there!

Why is there such a large number of Asian tourists that ignore local rules, social customs, and laws? Is it a cultural thing? A language barrier? Different socialization?
Thats just kinda how they are i think. Very serious about there own customs and what not but pretend others dont exist
Realistically I don't think most of it is deliberate, they just are completely ignorant about the local rules and possible risks.
live in us but would love to visit bondi my favorite shows are bondi vet and rescuers
Do life guards have speakers so they can tell the people in the water to come closer? Seems usefull when there are a lot of swimmers. Or does this not work en they just all ignore it? Maybe like boeings to mark of where they cant go? Probably wouldnt have 90% of the problems if the crowd listened though haha. Big respect for al the life guards who have to put up with some people.

Na the first one I would of been slapped back to reality mate💀
Before becoming a pool lifeguard, I had a misconception that lifeguards only saved people from drowning and that their job was relatively easy. However, after undergoing lifeguard training, I was surprised to learn that there is more to the job than what meets the eye. Some people might argue that the responsibilities of pool lifeguards and beach lifeguards are different, but in reality, both have to ensure the safety of people in and around the water. While lifeguards at the beach must monitor swimmers within the flags and keep them away from the shore, pool lifeguards must ensure that people do not go beyond the shallow end to prevent drowning. Unfortunately, some people tend to ignore the rules and climb over or under the rails or play on the ramps, which can be dangerous. Lifeguards can be compared to the police, as both have to ensure the safety of the public and deal with people who break the rules or engage in risky behaviour. Lifeguards have to deal with their share of rule-breakers, risk-takers, and troublemakers, whether they work at a swimming pool or a beach. Unfortunately, not many people understand the full extent of a lifeguard's job, and I wish more would appreciate the hard work and dedication that goes into ensuring the safety of swimmers.
Bondi!
I watch it on TV as well
