Tristan Tanner is where efficiency and effectiveness meet into one perfectly concise 3 minute lesson. Love this format. If you ask most content creators what time it is, they tell you how to build a watch over the next 20 minutes. Tristan tells you what time it is and we’re on our way.
Keep em coming! You’re one of the few channels where no fast forward is needed to get to the part you want to hear. Which is awesome for us short attention span folks.
Killin it with these no BS, concise tutorials! Absolutely needed in the sport, everyone else is convoluted af and I get all confused from watching too much 😅
You're putting out the best form content IMO since Danny L. had his little run with it. Got my ass out to do field work for the first time in at least 2 years after watching your stuff. I truly appreciate your efforts. All the best to you.
I guess I probably do need to pay you for a lesson because it wasn't until you offered to say those things directly to my face that I realized I was scared and looking away from the screen while the video was playing.
What do you think about the use of off-hand during the throw? I have noticed that it can have a big impact on hitting the gaps. I would be interested to hear your thoughts. Thx for this video, which handles a very important topic. It is so embarrassing to hit trees over and over again, as it on the other hand feels great to be able to throw through the gaps confidentially.
I think the off hand can throw off timing which can of course make a big difference on consistency. But generally people to a lot of things that are way worse for their throw!
One thing I've been confused on for a while. Is that a lot of advice on youtube way back when I first started was to do different run up angles for your shot shape, as so many woods courses by me require hard shot shapes. Like run up more at an angle off the target for Hyzer and Annhyzer. Is that not really a thing anymore? Or just more of a 950+ rated youtube thing but not a touring pro thing? Which accuracy has a been a big issue for a while, I can hit gaps that are relatively straight in front of me on a line that goes pretty straight. But once a flip or a flex or something extra is needed accuracy goes down the drain. Should those mechanics to throw other shapes just be straight as well?
Generally you want to start anhyzers more left if you are right handed so running up left is perfect bc that’s your target line. Same thing for a hyzer starting more right so you run up that direction. Same concept, different reason
@tristan_tanner13 Thanks for the reply. At least I'm on the right track. I think I have an idea to try now. I think on these shots, I wasn't paying attention to where my reachback is. If I understand this right, it still should reflect the aim point.
So how do you feel about the stagger stance? I have been doing that since I saw the Drew Gibson videos 4 years ago but when I do my walk up, it's toward my target, and then I step forward and left into my stagger so my energy goes left of the target. And since my body then covers my line, I round 😠
I have a question. I watch a lot of videos from another person and they say to reach more "out" when reaching back. You're saying to reach straight back. Seems like that would put the line of travel for the disc right through your body, or experience rounding. The reach out makes a little more sense to me, so I think I'm missing part of the picture. One pro I'm aware of that reaches pretty much straight back and throws really well is Silva Sarinen. I do notice that she occasionally late releases, possibly due to a bit of rounding caused by reaching straight back. Could you elaborate a bit please. I really like your videos and am looking forward to more of them. Thanks
I think there is a zone around the straight back spot that is fine. I don't think way out or way around are good. Those tips are generally geared toward people who are rounding or not reaching back straight enough!
@tristan_tanner13 reporting back as I finally got the chance to hit a course again. My typical rounds here at Oak Grove in Pasadena are around +4 through +7. Today they had a longer layout than usual and I shot even! I felt so much more comfortable hitting the lines, the main thing that helped me was the "walk straight at my line" tip. I used to always come from the back right of the tee and x step towards the front left of the tee pad no matter which way the line was which was causing the disc trajectory in my hand to be like the nike swoosh instead of a straight line. So...hell yeah! Progress! Thank you 🫡
"If you want me to tell these things directly to your face" hahaha
Awesome
🤷♂️
These short format tips are awesome! Love how much info you can pack in and no extra fluff. Thanks for sharing with us!
Appreciate the feedback!
Agreed!
"scared look away, and anxious look forward" 😁😁....Love it Tristan!! Loving the lessons...keep 'em coming!!
yeah, felt personally attacked by that but in a good way!
Glad you like them, let me know how it goes!
These form/tip videos are gold my man! Quick to the point and very helpful. Also they are attention deficit disorder proof. 😂
Maybe that’s why I have been loving these 😂 it makes perfect sense now lol
That’s the goal, glad it’s working!
hunter from foundation needs to see this. his run ups are always massively angled
That’s expected from an am
A lot of people, and tour players, struggle with this
@@tristan_tanner13 love seeing you on tour! hope to see you back crushing it next year
I have trouble watching his form it always bugs me lol.
@@judasblewit he has so much power in his throw and its 80% wasted because of the run up
That third tip! Man, I had to laugh because I see that from everyone on the card in every woods course I throw. Including me. Thanks, coach.
It's a common mistake, glad it resonated!
Love the shoulder dragging the head.
That’s great!

That shoulders moving The head thing is great! Have to try that Out.

Shoulder head drag...exactly what I've been searching for. Thank you!!
I personally think just trying to hit the trees in the gap is the only way to miss them. Because I always seem to hit them when I try to miss them.
😂
This is a true bonus tip!
This is awesome advice! Im definitely guilty of the first thing, and it makes sense why i miss the gaps. thanks, gonna give this a try!
Let me know how it works!
These tip videos are pure gold, keep them coming man!
Glad you are finding them useful!
Thanks, double T!
I have been searching for a good explanation of head turn for a long time.

I feel personally attacked with the head comment... LOL! It's literally what we worked on yesterday. SMH!
Haha, to make you feel better, I filmed this video before that!
Great content Tristan - well articulated, actionable advice for dg improvement.
Thank you, glad you like it!
Great stuff thanks
Glad you like it!
My face received this information
Haha perfect!
In your opinion, is the Tech Disc beneficial to use to help improve one's throwing skills?
I guess I probably do need to pay you for a lesson because it wasn't until you offered to say those things directly to my face that I realized I was scared and looking away from the screen while the video was playing.
That logic checks out!

@@tristan_tanner13 Thank You for your answer. I meant that if I put my off hand near me, it can help a lot.
You should include your links or contact information for training sessions. These videos you're cranking out are really good.

There should be some natural offset in them footwork. But I do think stepping way off the line in unnecessary.

Not enough people talking about head position
Agreed!
What part of your game do you need to improve the most?
These three things are exactly what I’ve been working on. Hitting gaps and lines more often.
TT NoBS Advice series is greenlit.
Thanks!
but cant hit a gap himself on tour..
I’m working on this myself. I hit gaps but the one I miss is a bad miss. Can always improve more! Hope the tips help
