  • Ok, the title is a bit dramatic, but its true and it's mostly my fault. In this video I talk about how I did not have a successful art print shop on Etsy and what factors and choices I made or didn't make that lead to the failure of my shop.
New website update with Originals and Art Prints directly available for purchase:

Thank you for sharing your experience so far. I want to have my own little shop one day, but my social anxiety gets the best of me. I love your new website!

Your videos have always been of quality. It does come down to marketing yourself.
Adding the shop to your portfolio page was a smart idea. In general, people are lazy, and don't want to go site hoping. Having it there is convenient.
Another smart move was putting a link in the video description.
The art you make would be great to liven up any apartment. You have to skip people getting the art because they like it, and have them get the art because they like you.

You pretty much took the path I wanted to take once I graduated from high school.
So I am invested in seeing you succeed.

don't feel bad. the art business is very tough. the majority of artists on fine art america have all time zero sales. it has a lot to do with schmoozing and who you know. since covid the market has continued to nosedive with the economy.

Thanks, I don't feel too bad about it, I see it as something to learn from, really. it takes work and time to grow a business.

This is so interesting. I made a cookie shop on Etsy with basically no audience lol (social media was not my thing) but I watched some videos on how to market to cold, warm and hot audiences and I made about $80 doing it before I closed the shop (I wasn’t consistent)
I like the organic approach. When I was doing organic outreach I did door-to-door sales and arts markets (which was cool because there was zero competition)
I also sold the cookies for $5/bag and donation which could be a good bet for you if you want to continue.
Maybe do some small prints/pieces and sell them by donation. (If you’re like me and get intimidated by putting a price out before you’re confident about the quality of your work, you can always get an idea of what people are “willing to pay” this way).
    Break a leg!

Thanks for sharing your story! I love hearing from others experiences, I'm definitely going to try the organic approach as well with going to fairs and stuff like that. I might try out some if your ideas as well, thanks for sharing! 🙌😊
