Pozdravljeni, še enkrat najlepša hvala za zanimivo vožnjo v šoferski kabini po meni nepoznanem območju. Vožnja in pokrajina sta spet zelo lepa. Hvala za vaše odlično delo. Želim vam lepo nedeljo in vse najboljše v Ljubljano iz Falkenberga.
Oh, Macedonia! I wonder if you intend to cover all the currently active railways in here. Sadly its the same story as with most ex-Yugoslavian countries in regards to the infrastructure: after the dissolution it fell into disrepair, despire it being an important line. This can be seen with the overgrown or removed tracks (where the trackbed is still in place), rusty rails, derelict signals and overhead lines, broken level crossings, etc... :(
@CFRTrainSpotter I have some more footages from Macedonia. It is a shame that there are no connections between those ex-Yugoslavian countries any more. In the old times you could get all the way to Istanbul. I will try to organise to go back in the summer and film some more lines over there.
it is a big shame yes, and one of the drawbacks of the fall of Yugoslavia (no matter who you support) - more border checks and lack of investment in infrastructure leading to fewer international service. even around 20 years ago it was possible to go from Skopje to Ljubljana (and in the summer there would be a couchette going from Thessaloniki to Vienna), but now? i cant see any international connections to Macedonia on vagonweb. its the same story with Bosnia and Herzegovina... and quite frankly i cant see a solution to all of this even with the promotion of rail transport :(
my country my beautiful country , 300 sunny days per year , all relation please Skopje- Gevgelija i will be very happy to see this , i live further in this relation
Ah David the Macedonian! No that was Alexander the Great! Finally the Balkans too! This is the territory of a great UA-camr called Dulevoz and he does all the cabrides in the Balkans, especially in Serbia. I saw that you also made the video in Bulgaria almost up to Gotse Delcev, then I'll watch it. Wild landscape on Skopje-Veles, the ancient Titov Veles! You can see a huge difference between the Slovenian and Macedonian lines, yet they were part of the same state, Yugoslavia. This line represents the main backbone not only of Macedonia but of much of the Balkans. I saw that they abolished international connections! What a pity! It would have been nice to do a Cabride from Belgrade to Thessaloniki! Even in parts, as you know how to do! We are satisfied! However the rolling stock is all new! Both in Croatia, and in Slovenia, Serbia and also in Macedonia. Perhaps with the future entry into the EU, there could be greater investments on the line, perhaps even a doubling of the tracks. Congratulations David! You made all Macedonians happy today! Finally a new flag strikes newly on Rail Relaxation Channel. Now, every 2 days i control your channel, seeing updates and after i sign all the ones to see. Great!
@wladislaw79 Thank you Wladislav, it would be great if I could do it from Belgrade to Thessaloniki. It is a pity that there are no connections. It used to be a great line and I imagine that very busy one. I am planning one day to do the journey as it was on the Famous Orient Express. I wish you a nice day.
Very interesting. I saw some old-Austrian signals. But only little traffic, not a single return movement. - Sehr interessant. Ich habe ein paar altösterreischische Signale entdeckt. Was mir auffällt: wenig Bahnverkehr, kein einziger Gegenzug.
well this line would have gotten electrified at some point sooner or later, in the communist era this was part of the Thessaloniki to Belgrade corridor that was used by lots of international services. i think this happened around the late 1970s/early 1980s when the new station in Skopje opened...
Just five minutes into the journey and I'm surprised to see... catenary still remaining over a removed track. I guess they don't steal copper over there?
What was the cause of the interruption of through service between Thessaloniki and Belgrade in 2011? Poor infrastructure? I assume today any freight traffic between Thessaloniki and central Europe now moves via Sophia, Bulgaria?
@raleighsheffield841 I am not sure, but it seems that all the international trains to Greece were interrupted. I don't know about the freight trains...
Hi, you mentioned "to liKe Thessaloniki and Skopje with Belgrade (etc.)". I think that should be "to liNk Thessalonike and Skopje with Belgrade (etc.)".
I was thinking about visiting MK after I visit Greece this summer. But there are no trains running from GR to MK or BG or MK to BG. Anybody having any tips?
@berkhofduvedec It is difficult. I don't know Macedonia very well, but I recommend that you to take a bus. There are buses from Skopje to Thessaloniki. I do not know about Bulgaria.
my guess is that he's in contact with the drivers and the railways in such cases. that, or they look at OpenRailwayMap (which seems less probable though)
Seeing a new flag always sparks my curiosity! Macedonia 🇲🇰 Excited to discover the surprises this video has in store for us!
@RunVirtual5 I am sure there will be something interesting in it for you.... And thanks for visiting.

This is the second time that I see a video about Macedonia. The first time was in a A documentary from the sixties of Italian TV
@cordialifetecchie Interesting. It was the first time that I travelled on railways in Macedonia.

@montgomeryscott1656 There is not a lot of rail traffic in Macedonia these days.
Thank you for the video. I am surprised by the distance between Skopje and Veles - 50 km.. Is this accurate??
@alexandrpoznukhov4395 Yes, it is. It is 240 km all the way to Thessaloniki.
Thank you for the interesting video, will there be more videos from the Balkan Countries?
@user-sj3xz6vx3h There will be just a few.
Just Balkans doesn't look that nice in winter (especially if there is no snow). Probably it would be good to repeat in spring when all is green 😉
@ZvonimirZelenika I agree. Will try to do that.
I'm actually a little surprised this route is electrified. Usually, routes like this in much of Europe use diesel powered trains.
These are the country's largest cities, and this is their mainline.
well this line would have gotten electrified at some point sooner or later, in the communist era this was part of the Thessaloniki to Belgrade corridor that was used by lots of international services. i think this happened around the late 1970s/early 1980s when the new station in Skopje opened...
This is the main line connecting Greece to Europe
This is the first video on the channel about the Macedonian railway, if I'm not mistaken
