Jessica - Thank you for a great interview.
I enjoyed listening to your perspectives. I would love to find and watch the movie - Feya Dayi.
Growing up in Hararghe, CHAAT, unlike today, used to be a Bercha with a purpose, to stay up for night prayers or study. I love how you articulately described Bercha and Mirqaana!
    Feya Dayi, my sister.

Where can I see this film in Ethiopia-Oromiya ?

Saw the film, Feya Dayi, recently at BAMPFA in Berkeley. It left me with many questions, as does the interview here. I wish that the interview had at least discussed the fact that there is a cultural war around qat use, both within Ethiopia and internationally. At least, that is what I gather from speaking with native Ethiopians who love qat and say it is about as harmless as coffee, but they cannot use it around certain family members or in certain regions of the country because its use is stigmatized. And being in the U.S. where it is illegal, they miss it dearly. And similarly, there are campaigns to demonize qat in Somalia and Yemen, and to make it illegal in conformity with the laws of the U.S. and many other countries. Here in California, although qat is mostly not on the radar of law enforcement, some Yemeni immigrants have been charged with crimes for growing it for their own use. Jessica Beshir appears to have a quite nuanced perspective, and is not exactly anti-qat, yet this film could be read as anti-qat, and even used by those campaigning to make its use illegal in Ethiopia. I doubt this was Jessica Beshir's intention, but I would really like to hear how she relates to the cultural conflict around qat. Did she intend to take a stand or a position in these conflicts with this film? I absolutely agree it is a beautiful film, by the way.

It has amphetamine - stimulant substance.

It has cathinone, which is chemically similar, but not the same thing as amphetamine.
