Outstanding as usual Alan. The connection of these lyrics to the setting in the church really can instill a deeper and more divine meaning Angelina's interpretation of the song. In any case Angelina's performance is breathtaking.....but the church setting adds another dimension for me.

Yes, both songs sung in a religious setting take on a completely different connotation. Her How Great Thou Art is another of my many top 5’s
Alan..I believe that the "All of Me" church is the same one that Angelina and Toby used in their "If I Were a Boy" video (London). I recognize
the Cellist, stained glass window and marble patterned floor.
I actually prefer the version of All of Me that she did at 12 years old- so smooth velvety and pure.
This is such a great review and observation! It's so true that the meaning of a song can vary depending on the background. For example, the current version of "If I Were a Boy in the Church" holds so much more meaning for me and really makes you pay attention to the lyrics. On the other hand, "Walking Through the Street" takes on a completely different meaning.
I love that you talked about the artists, and I think you're right - we mustn't forget they are artists. Each performance and song conveys a message. On the other hand, the singers need to be mindful of what that message means and whether they believe in it.
Side note: I noticed that when she was younger, her lyrics were much clearer than many of her songs today. I'm not here to judge what's right or wrong, but for me, it's all about her voice. Unlike many artists, she can sing any genre - rap, pop, R&B, country, jazz. Her followers are captivated by her voice; the rest is just eye candy. Sometimes, I wonder if she realizes how unique and respected her voice really is. I wonder if she realizes her voice can stand up and even exceed the Swifts, Beyoncé, etc
I believe her fame will come with a ballad that showcases her voice over the instruments. She has the potential to dominate many genres, which is unheard. Most artists stick to one genre (jazz, country) and don’t successfully branch out. This might be what's holding her back, as it takes time to be accepted in one genre but to be accepted in many, really has not been done to my knowledge. But greatness and talent will prevail. I firmly believe she'll be recognized as one of the best singers of all time due to her abilities and talents. Her voice is very special, for sure.
A good thing we have different taste. Not a fan of John Legend. Thank you for showing the video of Fly me to the moon.. love it. Prefer Angelina's version of All of Me when she was 12.

The 12 year-old version was amazing and so tender, sweet and yet powerful.
This 18 year-old version, IMO, is at a level that is indescribable and that I'm sure few singer of any age can achieve except Angelina!
In my humble opinion this is much better song than "If I Were A Boy". I mean better as a composition. Also the lyrics are deeper, I think. Angelina's performance of "If I Were A Boy" is very good though. But here she really shines. A really good song and a really good singer together! The version she did when she was 12 was also spectacular. No offense to John Legend but I liked the version Angelina sang when she was just 12 years old more than John Legend's rendition and he is still a very good artist. I am still glad that Angelina works together with Toby Gad even though she didn't get to record "All Of Me" as a studio single. Or that is my presumption, anyway. Toby seems to be a really nice guy.
I agree that All of Me was better, but perhaps for different reasons.
What makes you believe, that the church would be in Spain?
On the FB page, it says she's in Girona, Spain. It's near the French border. It's known as a mini Barcelona. It's just a 2 hr drive to the Pyrenees mountains

@@thealanpapier yeah, I knew were she sang "Creep", but that doesn't mean that she recored the clip at the same time as posted. BTW, I wouldn't catogorize that as vacation either, it seemed as if she had a performance there.

Remaining question would be when it was recorded --- I could imagine rather earlier the year, as she'd been in London before. And I'd think hey likely didn't record the music video just a week before release date.
@@most2dot0 They flew out from L.A. Friday, probably arrived Saturday. London weather was fine Sunday and Monday morning. She arrived at the London Palladium around 3pm Monday. Tuesday and Wednesday rained. Thursday weather was clear and she arrived at the Grosvenor Hotel early afternoon. The video with graffiti near Brick Lane appears to be at sunset. Likely they flew out Friday. I think they had time for recording, but what happened during those unaccounted times would be only speculation.
