      Was that a 'Good Time' or something less? I actually started on my own while still 7th grade (having had the 'spark' lit in me during a 6th grade Science class) when I took one of those over-the mail Study courses that I paid for with some money I saved. It also helped that my father was a TV repairman with his own shop 🙂

      @@TVJAY Glad to hear that 🙂 After taking my own home-study course as a pre-teen on my own dime ($385 was a lot back in 1969), I then went to a NYC (all Boys) High School in the Technical Electronics program, then after a wasted year at the US Air Force Academy, followed by four yeas as a Mainframe followed by DPD-11 mini repair technician, then on to the New York Institute of Technology to earn my Engineering Technology BS, which I earned in 1986 - the year my first son was born. For some reason, I miss that hardware action.

    I haven't had a TRUE electronics course/introduction since High School. I'm excited for a refresher on the theory and terminology. It will come in handy for projects with the Raspberry Pi Pico 2 when I get my hands on one (or more).
    Unless I missed it (twice), you may not have explained the acronym DVM. I believe this is a Digital Volt Meter.
    Is there a standardized "margin of error" for a DVM as far as accuracy is concerned?
    I could absolutely use a "color code" refresher. When you include that info, you might mention some reference websites.
    I am certainly looking forward to the future episodes.

      Yes, DVM is Digital Volt Meter. Believe it or not, I still have an old Analog voltmeter somewhere in my garage.
      I was thinking about a Color Code segment, but I have to decided how deep to go into that. The tricky part is when the resistor precision if very high, and when the values are very small (like 1.35 ohms). Those special ones are rare and expensive since they are used in high-precision test equipment. So maybe I start with details on the more common values, and save the special ones for a future Part 2.
      As far as 'Margin of error', that varies greatly on what a DVMs primary purpose happens to be, such as DC, AC, Capacitance, etc. In my experience, both professionally and as a hobbyist You-Tuber, a Fluke meter is the most accurate with 0.5% on their lower-end models, and 0.05 % on their highest-end, and 0.1% in their mid-range models (using DC accuracy as a baseline). I believe the Fluke 15B I have is my best performer having about 0.5% DC accuracy with it costing less than $150. I have spent more on DVM that are less accurate.
