Ten bucks says people are going to start asking you to determine what roles their builds are. But this is probably one of my favorite videos. Time to analyze and build a competitive hanger
This video is an example of what sets you apart from most of the other content creators out there. You're not just showing off your skill or knowledge, but you strive to elevate the entire community. You are a gift to the Mech Arena universe and I hope others will recognize the value of your content like this. Please keep it coming. As for me, I think I had a feel for the concept of roles, but I certainly couldn't describe it as precisely as you have put it here. It's like a child tasting for the first time a gourmet grilled cheese made from multiple types of cheese. They know something's different from their Kraft Singles grilled cheese that they have been eating, but they don't have the vocabulary or experience to fully grasp what is going on. Thank you for putting words and structure to my inklings. My hangar certainly needs some better balance, even if that means swapping out "higher ranked" mechs and weapons for more effective and complementary ones. I look forward to your additional videos in the series to help me further solidify my hangar.
We need more videos like this! This was very informative, appreciate it. Based on this I'm already in pretty decent shape with both of my hangers. I might make some small adjustments later on.
I'll definitely come back and rewatch this video when I've got more options for mechs and weapons. Currently I'm mostly just running whatever I happen to have, I don't have any spares lmao
General review: Overall a great video. It helps to understand what the roles are and what you can expect from different mechs with different weapon combos. Looking forward to the next video. Personal Review: There are certain things that any player is good at, for example I can be a good pusher just cuz i have an aggressive playstyle. Someone can be a great support. Point being, if you are playing with a team and you are a good damage dealer, you'll instinctively design your hanger with that in mind. As a result, most people don't want a balanced hanger. They'll go with what they are good with. I can place a tank in my hanger like vortex but if I'm just gonna stay back and fire at the enemy from corners instead of pushing or dealing damage, i would rather have let's say a lacewing storm combo.
thanks! i think you misinterpreted slightly.. nowhere in the video did i say "do this, do that," or "copy what i have." i fully understand player nuance (im far less aggressive than most players, so ik this better than most), and gave a few general recommendations, but not strict instructions. again, the goal is to get you thinking, not for you to copy what i have.
Awesome video, this will help refine my hanger greatly... I even took some notes about the different roles and their strengths and weaknesses... This may likely be the video of yours that I rewatch tens to hundreds of times in order to fully deepen my understanding of a good hanger...

It is one of the best basics things that needed to be pointed out I think 🤔🤔 Also it gives you ideas for future investments in both mechs and weapons with this mindset!! I have already decided I will only have one revoker and probably storm rack build😂😂 Other than that I am planning for fun weapons rather than op but still effective such as pod guns maybe but I guess I will have more insight in the next vid you talking about Eager to see that This was a great way of getting us thinking deep about our own specific builds!! Pretty good video. Another interesting element to competitive play is mobile ver PC. Mobile players have less ability to make the weapons go where they need to.
God I wish they would push an update to free up the aim for mobile! I dropped $$$ getting the Storm Rack 12 only to find out I can’t aim it effectively at walls/ground etc due to the overbearing aim assist locking on. So frustrating…..
I have an unreasonable love for zephyr, so instead of doing any of the things you suggested, I blew 6k acoins refreshing the pilot implant store and acquiring the legendary pulse radius implant. But if I ever decide to take the game seriously again, this was really good info. Hard to have any desire to keep up with all the newer stuff as a f2p tho.
My current hangar according to this is Paragon Cryo Launcher: Backline/Damage dealer Guardián Longarm: Backline Ares Missile Rack: Defender/Damage dealer Tengu Ember Gun: Pusher/Damage dealer Slingshot Helix: Pusher/Backline/Damage Dealer I maybe need another Defender, thanks Ruffles

Fs. As mentioned, the intent is not for you to copy my hangar, but to understand what you have/need (this will also help you understand if new mechs/weapons will have a place in your hangar)
Bastion,surge,eclipse,panther, death walker is what I run for top hangar. In correspondence to the mech order I have minigun 12s, revoker 12s, revoker 16/8, rail gun 16s, sr 12s. Obviously for the near future I want sr 16s when I get the energy capacity and perhaps switch out either panther or bastion maybe both but for now it’s effective for me at 12.5k. I’d like to use nomad and vortex more but at 20 energy they don’t have the firepower for my top hangar so they’re benched
My hanger is built for maxing each mech achievements and rotating weapons between each of them. However, I always add a clutch for competitive matches aka Eclipse with any close range weapon. 🎉
guardian is primarily a defender. as stated in the video, dont take the in-game roles too literally, not all attackers are pushers, not all tanks are defenders, etc
I usually play 2v2, so I have mainly assassins and damage dealers. CPC is only for the weekly objective of 16 Control Points Captures. Once that's done, I'm back to 2v2.
My most used builds: Storm Vortex- Defender/Pusher Grav Mimicker- DPS/Backline Minigun Aegis- Defender Ember Eclipse- Pusher (ik it’s bad, I just like it more than other cq mechs) Disruptor Guardian-Backline/Support Railgun Orion-Backline/Support Ember Vortex- Pusher/Defender I don’t have many pushers but if that means not using dash mechs then I’ll take it
I think you can limit it to 4 categories - DMG Dealer is more likely entirely weapons oriented (I think you can skip this category) - Similar to assassin as the Pusher can be seen as a mech that can distort the enemy defense line - I'm not satisfied with the defenders definition of it counters pushers as in rock paper scissors that would imply pushers > backline, defenders > pushers, where we know this isn't true), an easier definition is backline prevents (area control), defenders kill (position control), pushers can break both previous roles, support elevates/disrupts team/opponents tactics
1-2. Yes, I could simplify and merge/remove certain roles, however I think they'll be useful to express my points when I make the accompanying video around setup building. 3. I never intended to say it was rock/paper/scissors, tho I will say designated defenders can often counter pushers (since that's literally their one job). When it comes to pushers vs defenders in terms of overall value, yes pushers are far better. Hence I mentioned most top players use only pushers, and that they can act as defenders rather well.
Running Eclipse , Vortex, Surge, Seeker and Bastion. I like my lineup but I think I want a lacewing too to switch Bastion out sometimes. Generally Bastion is still my best but. On certain maps. The really big open ones particularly it's hard to use very effectively compared to faster mechs. The ability is good for countering surge and seeker though particularly

My hanger is like Killshot for defence and backline Zephyr for counter backup Brickhouse for rushing Panther for artillery like helping teammates And Guardian for mid foght
I think that's why I like Vortex so much, I use Vortex with Storm Racks, good defender but can also push a bit if needed early game, and can be good support by boosting teammate defense so technically a 3 in 1 with the ability! Seeker for assassin, Onyx for damage dealer with miniguns too Sadly never been a fan of pushers so that's my main hangar downside, do you have any advice for using Blockhorn? I use it as a sniper at the moment, staying back, em rifles
same, vortex just has everything i want in an ability tbh. for blockhorn, imo it works best as defender/backline. suppressive weapons like minigun/etc can dump stupid amounts of dmg at reasonable range, while also being able to hard-stop surges/etc if they push you. not always ideal for central beacon defending, you wanna keep it where theres only 1 reasonable entry point
@RuFFlesGaming ahh minigun switch aha I'd be switching them from Onyx to Blockhorn in that case, for my 5v5 hangar, I currently have Stalker/savant12 and Seeker/Repeater12 as assassins, Hemlock/Stormrack12 as support, Blockhorn/em16(minigun16) and Onyx/Minigun16(Vortex/minigun12) CPC is similar just weapons moved around a little and stalker is replaced with Vortex 😅 definitely not the best hangar
Hey ruffles I need some help My sp is like 3k I need 3 of these 4 mechs: eclipse, outlaw,panther and nomad, I have been running without the panther for a while. Eclipse and nomad have 12 energy and panther and outlaw have 16. Idk which weapons to use on them, rn I have ember gun 6s on Eclipse and revoker 10 on nomad, and ember guns 8 on outlaw. I don't really have any good snipers for outlaw, but I do have helix rack? Idk which weapons to use on which mechs. I also have missile rack 6s on my vortex
Hey ruffles nice video I was a little confused about what to do , I already asked you what I should get Strom rack 12 or minigun 12 and you said Strom rack 12 which is of course a better choice, but I don't have a legendary reload implant and without it , using storm rack is not giving me results, I used 2k acoins on new implant system hoping that I will get it but still I didn't get it I really don't know should I wait for implant because it might take one more month or should I go for something else
well your options are: 1. wait a bit and spend 3k acoins for the implant 2. spend 7k+ acoins getting a dif weapon and then spend 3k on the Storm implant later anyway
quite possibly. Storm Eclipse is not very popular at my SP, and certainly not the best choice for competitive play, but its still good enough that you wont be 'forced' out of it, per se
situationally, every mech can **attempt** to do anything. as mentioned, this video was meant to get you thinking, not just to tell you "do XYZ." everything in this game has some level of nuance

sadly, that build is the strongest in the game for a reason. not much can kill it, tho id recommend Storm Deathwalker (since you have large AOE firepower, and can keep respawning until you kill it)
The random team members. cant get the blue circles.... i had to be Pusher and DMg Dealer. Team got the circles n died. Alone DmG dealer Assassin i was.

some players wanna do their best with the stuff they enjoy, other players wanna change their stuff so they can do better. both valid

I know guardian is an attacker mech but it can also play support role as it can cancel debuffs applied to ally’s like freeze by hemlock

sadly, that build is the strongest in the game for a reason. not much can kill it, tho id recommend Storm Deathwalker (since you have large AOE firepower, and can keep respawning until you kill it)
