Interesting well presented content. However what about the shops that are enhancing damage to pad claims, ordering from cheaper suppliers, fixing panels they are getting paid to replace. Outrageous towing and storage fees sometimes a $1000. For 5 Miles of towing and $100./day in storage charges etc. These practices are the reasons our rates have tripled. Do you ever discuss these issues?
Yes we do talk about that, it is even mentioned in this video. That is investigated and subject to criminal charges. You see news stories on this all the time. But, $100 a day for storage is very reasonable when you look at the risk and cost of storing collision damaged vehicles. We use to teach this at claims school so adjusters understood. I think people believe its just parking a car on an empty lot. The issue here is insurer fraud is way more prolific and is a physical harm to the motoring public.
Techs have no cause of action. Shops are vunerable to suits due to altering damage reports without allowing vehicle owner to review and accept or deny.
