This was one of the best interviews I've seen in a while. Mad Max is a real dude. 💯
If u do not have an uncle that reminds u of mad max u might not be laughing hard enough 🤣🤣🤣🤣 im weakkkkkkkkk asf
He was a one man malice at the Palace without the hype. He ran up on an annoying fan with the quickness.
@@St3phenking13 i remember that! That fan said somethg abt max's daughter and it was a WRAP!
@@Alivirgo8.24 I do 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣lmao.
I love this brother. Rt.
im that tio lol@@Alivirgo8.24
So proud to say he’s actually my cousin. I wish he’d put together a stand up. He’s just naturally funny as heck.
Max is the truth.
Htown still has mad love for Max!
Kenny’s story’s about mad max are legendary
Interesting. You’re a pastor. And you’re so proud of Maxwell cussing out here worse than a pirate? And bragging about prostitution and women? Jesus wouldn’t be so proud, pastor. Not a good look, pastor. Not a good look.
😒
Vernon that uncle that’s going to tell you straight up no sugarcoating. Great episode
Yes indeed, this interview is classic.💪🔥🤜🤲👊🤜🤛🤝💣💯💥
Dog, Mad Max and Gill were so in tuned with each other. That was crazy. Perfect synergy was flowing through that conversation
I know
10 for 10!!!!
3 for 17!!!
Where the 2s
Oh fuck yea
These new kids don't know what basketball 🏀 is.
Faaccttss
Exactly GREAT ENERGY 👍 AND BEING ON THE SAME PAGE THROUGH THE CONVOS . AND MADE IT SO FUNNY 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅 I SEEN THE BOTTOM OF THAT MFS TENNIS SHOES MAN , I'M LOOKING CRAZY LIKE WHERE IS HE AT. RIP TO PAC ABOVE THE RIM. CRAZY STORIES ON THE GREATS.
This is the True Definition of “Backyard BBQ Table Talk” felt like i was listening to my pops talks about the old days 🎯💪🏾
Clearly remembering Arenas said that basketball isn't grabbing but Clearly the look on his face is envious hearing all the real stories about Maxwell being in the trenches with real men! The looks are priceless when Maxwell is asked particular questions!Definition of getting Schooled! 🤣
That’s a damn good idea for a podcast name 💯
Max talking about Hakeem's hands got me dying lmao
Man I had to rewind that 3 times 💯🤣
I think he was talking about Ralph Sampson’s hands lol
@@dr.boolin8296 nah he was talking about African hands 😂😂
bruh.🤣🤣🤣🤣
I laughed so HARD 😂😂😂
Great one. I'm still laughing " Before he turned Muslim, Dream would smack the shit out ya!" 😆 🤣 Vernon's got that classic barber shop talk. We need more
NO SHIT 🤣
For sure... he said he knocked him out of his chair... D*mn, dream wasn't playing!😳🤯😅😅
MAx needs to be a regular on the show and everything. Bring that old school perspective. Loved when they talked about the 80's 90's how people needed to be tougher to get things. So if you gave that mentality to today's players they would be the best players ever.
So feelings and not facts!!!
They fouled just cause you got to the rim back in the days 🤣🤣
Fr tho i rock with em
Nah, he needs his OWN thing, these guys got their thing
I BBK
“I was gonna chase Dream and stab the sh-t outta him!” 🤣 Love me some Mad Max!
Max's level of transparency is almost Mike Tyson-like.
Exactly
Max is in great shape to be almost 60 years old.
“ I fought hard for those rings, fuck mike “ 😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂 I feel same way.. How gonna say dude retire not there so we don't count those chips.. FOH
As a life long Chicago Bulls fan, I thoroughly enjoyed the match up of Mad Max versus His Airness! I witnessed some of the best basketball being played between those two. Thanks for the memories Mr. Maxwell!
Yessir! They used to go at it. Max is downplaying those matchups. He definitely brought the bestbout of Mike.
He gave Mike his NUTTS...
Great observation. I watched those games too as 13 yr old on wgn part of our cable package in Houston TX lol
Max could almost get to mike. A couple times he did briefly get him, but mike only cared about winning.

Gil is seeing what would he be when he got older
Mad max and Gil is like a father and son 😂😂
Uncle Vernon keeping this interview funky AF 😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I love this joint.
Gotta bring him back again and longer interview no bs💯 great episode😹!!
Discussing Doc J made me teary eyed. Dude was unbelievable on the hardwood, like a man playing with boys.
Man who you telling loved me some Dr. J .
My first basketball hero and team. Dr. J was so smooth, on and off the court. I just wished those Sixers would've won atleast one more ring.
Said he can cut meat with his hands 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hilarious
The back and forth between Gil and Max is unparalleled! They have crazy chemistry, they are funny and honest! Best video I've seen in a while! Max needs to be on someone’s show consistently
I’m a late 90s baby. Never seen dude play but I’m already a fan🤣🤣🤣 unk is straight gangsta😭
You guys did the game a service putting Vernon Maxwell on the cast. Thank You 🙏🏽 for this one.
Yes.
Mad Max talking about Jordan is the perfect description of MJ😂💯💯💯🔥
Vernon Maxwell was a great defender and a good shooter. What people forget about him is he was also an athletic freak. Kenny Smith said he was the fastest player he ever saw on a court.
@@achmeez MAN, he would've been a beast on the field. Know which position he played?
lmao@@Las-yv5id
lowest body fat percentage
Skillwise, no center can look at Hakeem as his equal. Offense and defense
Spittin
I live in Houston and I remember always seeing Vernon in the clubs back in those days. He was usually back in the cut with a teammate or two getting his drink on.
Vernon "Mad Max" Maxwell and Latrell Sprewell have been the 2 interviews that the NBA Alumni w/ podcasts have yet to do and Gil is the first to get Mad Max.
This dude is official. Miss the times where people spoke like this man just say it how you think it is.. whether right or wrong we’ll come to an understanding eventually!
Vernon Maxwell was an awesome guest! Great episode! Gil, you're the best podcast host in this space of like pro and ex pro athletes. I've been saying it for some years now but your content is just the most insightful with a mixture of humility , humor, great stories, swag and information. Keep going!
Every black person got an Uncle just like him gotta love him. 💯💯
Mad max was part of the golden age of basketball for Houston best matchups of all time!
Nah I need to see Pat Bev interview Mad Max 😂😂😂😂😂
He threw that “fck mike” in there smooth
16:23 " man we had that big ass African back there" LMFAO
You can tell he’s a real OG, that was talented playing basketball 🏀 💯
Great observation
"They say Mike wasn't there, so our shit don't count.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣, that's bullshit 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣💯💯💯💯💯💯
😂😂😅 He right.
Damn ...what an episode...Mad Max was so dope..insightful, funny, honest and great energy. He needs more interviews in this space!! Dope!
I was delivered to a 7/11 in Charlotte and when I walked in Mad Max was walking out. Nobody knew who he was. I was like hold up these mofos may not know who you are but I definitely do! I said what's good Max!! He showed love. I was working and he was leaving but I let it be known I knew who he was and that he was a legend to me. He said thank you and I never seen Max again!!! I fuck wit Max!
i seen him at a hs bball game in charlotte
Yo Max need to be interviewed WAAAAYYY more
i didn't know this dude was this funny
Social media may have some negatives, but stuff like this is great. You used to only see guys interviewed on network tv and it was so fake. Podcasts allow people to just be themselves.
Absolutely... Its a good and bad to anything if u make it and glad get to see this stuff
Vernon Maxwell is a gift from God that just keeps on giving. Long after is highly inspiring career, we get this jewel of an interview. You could see Gills true admiration and respect for this man. What an absolute treat this episode was.
The only thing this made me think of is the fact that Gilbert was basically done being a great player at 26 years old but he was SO great at his peak that he STILL gets massive respect from literally EVERYONE. Respect OG
Gilbert bro pur some Bass in your voice!
I think mad max just being overly nice.
@@tomn6201 you must not know of him then. fuck he gotta be nice to Gilbert arenas for?
“They just swimming in the water like salmon n shit tryna figure this shit out”😭
Cryin!!! 😂😂😂😂
This might be the funniest basketball interview/podcast ever.
Definitely the best interview so far …. Dude was just so real and upfront… I really respect that and it give a new outlook on the game
Maaaaan he’s gotta do the Knuckleheads Podcast
Max does need to get on there 😂
This might be my favorite episode!! The interview I never knew I needed!!
Frfr
The guests getting and more interesting, keep up the great work 👍
Mad max was a dog back then! Love your channel Bossco
@@hoodrichhaul7545 he was my dude, great addition to that team in Houston. Thx for the ENERGY and support my dude💯
i had one expectation for a vernon maxwell podcast appearance and the man did NOT disappoint
It’s great to hear how great older players are cause I wondered how good dr. J was in comparison to the goats.
Dope interview! Mad max is one of my childhood heroes I grew up in Houston and he was a familiar face around the city in and off the court
I listened to that Dream story 30x
Usually will catch him at Bennigan's after the games, Buying drinks for everybody, Hell of a guy, Great player!🤘-Town.
Lol Ole Bennigans. I still see Max out and abouy every so often when he comes to Houston. Still looks young as hell and is still in good shape.
Aye I'm so so blessed to have met this guy when they were playing the knicks , cuz a real one glad to see he's healthy and still talking his shite
mad max is funny as hell on twitter, great to have him on a pod
Mad Max had me rolling the whole podcast 😂😂😂 Telling a story like your uncle's at a barbque.. LoL 🤣
This is by far my favorite episode! Mad Max is funny as hell.
Mad Max is that cool uncle that's gon hit the weed with you at the family reunion and not tell your parents 🤣
He said "they'll have you drinking out of a straw for six weeks." 🤣🤣🤣
Love this guy didn’t know he was this entertaining
One of my top 5. Just an easy, smooth, real conversation.
LOL He said he use to see the bottom of Mike's tennis shoes LOL LOL
True story I used to see Mad Max in the projects in 3rd Ward shooting dice 🎲 getting high before a game in Houston he was the truth
True story I was locked with mad max in prison..I did a 2 year bid..he was my cell mate for a yr..all we did was smoke dust and played uno..shit was real
.he's a legend
I'll try to top that. I saw JR Rider coming from an apartment of a chick I used to give the cold shoulder cus I thought she was kind of thug lol. When I got into my apartment and turned on the TV I realized the Timberwolves were in shoot around lol.
Lmfao....
I believe that he mos definitely the type of dude to get down like that
@@albertlewis4375 I was cool with the lady but would rebuff her when she shot her shot. We were on good terms so I called and asked her and she said yeah, she also sold weed. He showed up 5 minutes into the 1st quarter buttoning up his warm up lol.
Mad Max!!! I enjoyed every minute of this interview! 10:27 😂😂
Dream is so bad ass that he was drafted BEFORE jordan and
Houston STILL loves him, you know he a bad mother.
Sam bowie was too. So who cares
Good to see ya Uncle Max! We would love to have ya back during the season 😊🍻🍺
Glad somebody finally interviewed Mad Max 💯 I always wanted to here his story
Im from houston born and raised and never knew the story abt him in san antonio. Thank u Pop!!!!
This Might be the best NBA interview ever !!!!!
"Cut a piece of meat with his hands!" 😂😂😂😂 dying! Hakeem the Dream!! God level center! Top 5 dead or alive big men.
Admired Mad Max’s game as a Youngsta. Was devastated when they beat my Knicks in the 94 Finals😖.
Was a Terror on Defense ⛓, and attacked the Basket.
Also Loved how he rocked the white wrist tape✅.
Maxwell needs a Podcast ASAP. Can tell he’s a Real One, and tells you like it is👌🏽.
he was the great three shooter, down 0-2 to phoenix on the road... and maxwell wouldn't quit
1 of the best entertaining interviews of 2022💪🏽💪🏽💯💯🔥🔥🔥🔥
Three OGs choppin it up.. this was mad real. Keep the content coming & genuine. Salute!
I love Maxwell how he expresses himself
2 people talked at one time the whole interview 😆
im glad that you did this Gill Mad max one of my fav players really great to hear from him and let people know about him
This was a dope interview. Salute Mad Max he needs a show fam💯💪
Max needs to be a host of his own show!!!
Just at 12min and this one of the best interviews
Max always has no filter, man would fight fans in the stands back in the day, Pop couldn't control him so he shipped him to Houston, being a Houston fan since I was a kid in the championship years of the Rockets it was nothing for Vernon to pull up in the hood in his Porsche
Pop was the Coach/GM of the Spurs then???
Pop didn’t become coach of the Spurs until 1996. Mad Max played for the Spurs 88,89.
@@jerrylewis788 he was an Assistant Coach
I'm from Pasadena, born in 75. Back in the day i got some killer weed for cheap. I got pine and popcorns for $235 a pound. Max would go into the hood and play dice and buy like a half pound from me and just give it away and smoke everyone out. Like waaay out, lol. The man was making like 500k a year and driving a pearl porsche with gold emblems and he would drink 40s with us, lol.
He is the nicest cat in the world if you are his friend and he has your back no matter what. Just don't piss him off.
@@justinsingleton2113 Pop didn't have authority to ship anybody as an assistant coach. Larry Brown couldn't handle him
Best podcast so far!!! Mad Max had me rolling!!!
Mad Max was one of my favorite players . Much love and respect from Toronto Ontario 🇨🇦 ....!
One of the funniest podcast EVER!!! MAD MAX is hilarious!!!!!!! He can chop meat with his hands WOW
this episode had me in tears! 🤣
This is one of them guys .... A National treasure
I’ve seen a number of Mad Max interviews and he NEVER disappoints. He’s just raw, unfiltered, and just pure comedy! 🤣😂
Unintentionally funny too. He's not saying stuff to sound funny lol. I would LOVE a podcast with him and GP recanting their altercation 😆 🤣
@@FuShengAlex😂😂😂😂Right
I like how Max gave Josiah love about his Father!!!
First class 💯.
So cool to hear Maxwell chat! Remember watching that man win rings in Houston. He's so funny!
From the first 2 minutes, I knew this would be a certified banger!
I love this interview, mad max was one of my favorite rockets player all-time.

"I used to see the bottom of that mfers tennis shoes man" 🤣 🤣 🤣 that's hilarious the way he said it
Gotta bring mad max back!! His perspective is definitely different and knowing his career and other stories I'm surprised u done see him on more platforms!!!
Max need to get on all the smoke . Need more max interviews
Mad Max was a great player, that team was a nightmare in 1993. I know cause I was Knicks fan. Max was a killer
Yeah they were but bulls 94 mj was out when the rockets use to beat the bulls by double figures but the jazz gave Houston hell them 2 were the best in the west when mj retire
Mad Max is that dude! Once a month bring him back!!!
Run this interview back again! Let me get that pt.2!
