The most powerful moment for me in this music video is at the very end, where IU looks at the camera with a pained expression before giving us a thin smile, which then quickly fades away again. My Korean is quite basic, but the first time I was listening to this song, I felt the emotion in her singing. It was quite touching.
I feel that mix of emotions too. Suga and the other producer did a really good job of explaining the emotions with the arrangement. These are exactly the feelings I get when I look back at memories I have of friends who are no longer with us. Which is the main idea IU is expressing here. TL;DR: Great arrangement and fulfills the main idea IU is pushing about remembering those who are not longer with us.

I don't think IU has publicly acknowledged the fan theories. But I recall the first time I watched (without subtitles) I gasped at one scene and exclaimed 'She's dressed like Sulli!'

I like to believe that in the beginning when she asks "are you happy now?" and declares that I hope they are happy...she's talking to people who are hateful for whatever reason, however justified. She's asking that with a sad expression to inquire if all this at least brought them something... because she herself doesn't feel any fulfilment and find her only solace in the thought that people whom she cared about are atleast...happy now.

Here is a little explanation for those who don't know IU lost her three friends.The lizard is goo hara.The dragon is jonghyun.The girl riding the dragon is sulli.She forgets her memories and goes to that machine to remember it again.'Where their is no shadow' means that spirits don't have shadows.And her friends died when they were young so that is why she said forever young.

It's possible she'll never publically admit that it's about them. Idols sometimes have to be very cagey about this stuff because there are people who will accuse them of trying to use the memory of the dead for their own benefit. Whether she admits to it or not, though, I think a critical reading of the lyrics makes it pretty obvious what she's talking about.

While I’d rather not tie myself down to the theories whether or not the girl, dragon and iguana are direct representations of particular individuals, I think it would be more appropriate to see that IU does have people that she cares about, despite the fact that she’s often said her social circles are fairly small. I can see those connections the theories point out myself, but I think the message IU is going for is part of a bigger picture, and bigger than herself.

As someone who does drawing for work, the girl in the white dress is definitely drawn like Sulli.
I know it's 2years late. It remind me of Sulli's last appearance in Hotel de Luna where sho wore a white dress.
