just received my new Ford Maverick hybrid truck Lovett my next door neighbor had Toyota Prius with over 300,000 miles we get together he saw the laughs at me
I am 50/50 on my thoughts of dependability.. my hybrid is out of the shop.. fixed the issues I had ( knocking, shuddering, also brake issues). I only have 4,400 miles or so on my Hybrid Maverick ..
have you had any issues after? is this a common thing? what were the issues causing that
@@Mikivli no issues with it since it was fixed.. I have 21,000 plus miles, running just as it should.. I am digging 44.5 mpg per tank right now.
That doesn't sound very reliable at all actually -- I'm nearly 130k miles in my 9 year old Toyota Prius and the worst I've yet to do on it is a coolant flush as part of its scheduled maintenance!
I really enjoy and respect your reviews John. I’m also happy you have a positive honest review about the Ford Maverick hybrid. I’m a owner of a Maverick hybrid XL.
Keep up the great work!
Blessings,
Ron
I appreciate that!
Thank you for your review and was very interested in your two issues. Will have my mechanic look at the front axle boot area for any issues during my first oil change. Enjoyed the video!
Glad it was helpful!
Check engine lights, CV boots and axile, in a year. Boy have we lowered our expectations. If that happens I call it junk. Auto makers want top dollar for junk, it's absurd.
But 45k miles. That's what most people drive a new vehicle in 2 to 3 years. So I would say it's held up good
My Tacoma gets check engine lights when it’s time for my oil change.
My Mazda three has 150,000 miles it’s a 2014 model all I’ve done is oil change and brakes. You have to be a lunatic to keep these for Mavericks wants the warranty is up. Those hybrid components are not cheap.
It's a 20k car. My 2016 Tacoma has 70k with 0 problems (knock on wood). My 2019 Tacoma with 50k has 0 problems too. ( Knock on wood lol). Actually, I did blow the trash shocks that come in the trd off road from flying through washboard with a load. Easy and cheap fix. I upgraded the suspension though.
I don't think it's that bad. 45 k with just minimal stuff to it for a 20k budget car is actually pretty decent so far.
I have the hybrid also, have the same engine light on, part ordered...side airbag recall...grabby brakes...I know these will be fixed, I love the truck and would definitely buy again...cold has been tough on it...Minnesota otherwise love it thanks for review
This is a great video. Thank you very much. I'm sixty seven years old and never ordered a new vehicle before. Yes, i'm just too cheap. I looked at the numbers on the maverick and it looked like the vehicle was priced ten thousand dollars less than it was worth so I ordered one.
I ordered my 2022 XLY hybrid (to get Cruise Control) November 3, 2021. In August they made me change to a 2023. Lucky for me, the rebate covered most of the price rise. According to ford they will start assembly tomorrow! I might even receive this car in my lifetime!
I'm curious, since you commute an amount necessary also,. What is your average MPG?
Though those issues are frustrating, they are not too bad considering you put quite a bit of mileage on the truck in that first year of ownership. Thankfully, you caught them within the warranty period. We are looking to order ours soon, but the Toyota Stout is giving us pause to see what they do. We are longtime Toyota fans. Loved my Lancruiser with 315K miles on it, then traded it for a 2007 Tundra which is still going quite strong.
I would put much faith in the Toyota Stout since nothing has been officially confirmed by Toyota. If anything the upcoming Toyota Tacoma Hybrid looks more promising.
@@jmc6000 - We are looking for a vehicle we can pull behind our motorhome and the Tacoma is too heavy. That is why we were looking for something in the same size/weight range as the Maverick. If Toyota doesn't announce something soon, then Maverick it will be. We do really like the Maverick, so buying it would not be a negative in our minds, we just wanted to have more selection between brands.
I just passed 2 years on my '22. Only 4000 miles. Really. My only issues have been lots of recalls, some they don't have solutions too (not good), and poor service. Dealerships do not give a rats butt. Oil change #1, did not reset oil life (first dealer); oil change #3 (different dealer) again noted they reset oil life, nope! On the airbag recall same dealer as the oil change #3, left panels not connected, stuffing coming out of the headliner, general poor fininshing touches and a 9/16" nut that probably belongs inside a door somewhere. On the good side: I like the mpg and the fact that I willingly bought a cheap vehicle, so my expectations match the poor build, the poor entertainment system, and the fact that I will be able to unload it with very few miles on it.
The legend has spoken.
Thanks Burt Fulton also have new Ford Maverick hybrid
You haven’t had your car for a year, you were without it for a month and have a check engine light that you can’t get parts for and that’s dependable? I love the looks and the idea of a small hybrid truck, but sounds like a lot of troubles still to be worked out.
Always appreciate your video's
John...and " thank's to your daughter for video them "..
Question: what mode do you normally use in the Maverick ? .
Eco , sport , normal ..
Most of the time I am usually in normal with some sport mode mixed in
WOW 45000 MILES IN A YEAR. MY CAR HAS 56000 IN 9 YEARS THAT CRAZY.
I am almost at 44k after over 5 years!
i am glad your dad saw the canyon
selling my lightening... getting a marvick,, simple small truck is the way to go.
Down for a month with a loaner and parts on back order, idiot lights on, does not instill confidence in its reliability.
Yes but it sounds like Ford and your dealer are taking care of you
WOW that is a lot of miles, that is more them I have in one year
Do you have an extended warranty? Has Ford confirmed they will cover the heat exchanger under warranty? Some other folks are getting denied their standard warranty claims on the heat exchanger just past 36k miles
No extended warranty on my Maverick and the dealership already said they are getting the part covered by warranty.
John - did you experience the low speed braking issue on your Mav? Was it taken in for the grille shutter/ belly pan mods?
The low speed braking issue has not really been a thing in the past 20k miles and the dealer did do the recall involving the grill shudder and under pan issue ad well
@@jmc6000 - thanks John. Mine’s at 14k, and I do notice the brakes issue less of late. Good to know that it may eventually normalize.
Did you purchase the extended warranty? Would you advise purchasing when my 23 XLT Hybrid with co-pilot 360 arrives
I think an extended warranty is a waste of money personally but I understand some people need it peace of mind. It's totally up to you but if I did over again. Knowing what I know I still would not get the extended warranty
@@jmc6000 thank you. This will be my first hybrid and first CVT transmission but I’m anxious to get it
@@ronnyhall9530 it's an eCVT, not the same thing.
@@ronnyhall9530 my Subaru has a CVT, My new Hybrid Mav is way way way smoother and feels rock solid.
@@jmc6000 they tried to sell me a 7yr 100,000 extended for $3100 of so.... Denied it. this was last week, Ford won't even offer financing rates for it, so i was told.
Samsung Wash?
It's dependable whilst it's new.
Most vehicles are today
You have to take it into the dealership for a month I would say that's sorta stranded. Something broke
Exactly, and ford usually wont give you a loaner car if yours is at their shop getting fix
Remember its a new model and built during covid..you Toyota worshippers are living in the past. Hows that twin turbo working out? Subaru bad? A buddy mechanic works for a conglomerate dealer and had his choice to remain with Toyota or go with Subaru. He went with Subaru as a Toyota fanboy he claims Toyota dependability is a thing of the past and now they like to deny claims as much as possible.. it's a new world folks... Anything new has teething pains and i hope my 4 day old Hybrid continues to be the joy to me that it is now. I've had over 50 new vehicles in my long life and 6 hybrids but the Maverick is the most memorable.
WOW 5:07 that engine/cabin noise is LOUD.
By design as I have a cold air intake on the 2.5
Whats your avg fuel consuption?
Right now in the spring/summer it's up to 41mpg
@@jmc6000 Thanks. That's awesome. I have one ordered but who knows when I'll get it.
My 2010 Corolla 259,000km Update: Nothing’s happened yet
))
Been waiting a year for my climate fan on my Navigator that supposedly starts a fire. Ford can’t seem to get to it.
So sorry to hear that
Now I know there are “hybreed “ trucks
Any info on the possible fire related issues with the hybrid?
That was a recall that happened to a select number of Hybrid Mavericks, Escapes and Lincoln Corsairs last year. That recall was a previtve measure by Ford mandated by the Government to do. No news about it now
Great to know you can trust your $40K 2022 Ford to take you across the country. I also trust my Ford to take me across the country (2002 Ford Ranger Tremor) :) by the way your insurance company is calling they want to increase your premiums. Something about driving a crap ton of miles and distracted driving. Haha
I must say, you have very low standards for reliability. I consider reliability everything you said plus not having issues over 200K miles. That’s what I had with my Corolla. Felt no different at 200K miles than at day 1. That’s why I went with a Tacoma. Not knocking on the Maverick. Love everything about it except I don’t consider them reliable IMO. Based on just those issues you had so far, I’d say it’s NOT reliable.
Tacomas had their issues as well. It helped that they kept the same gas guzzling engine for 10 years.
Rambling…
It sounds like a sowing machine.
Umm that would be the 2.0 ecoboost
Generic comment
No, it's a Ford.
J.c can any of these clown car makers get it right ,1year and its like humpty dumpty
What I hear is the hybrid is the problem
Actually the Hybrid has been pretty reliable in my experience
Imma just get the 2.0t that engine has been around awhile for ford
@@chadmcquade3075 Well the 2.5 on the Hybrid has-been around longer and does not have direct injection and a turbo like the 2.0
@@jmc6000 yeah but hybrid has hybrid problems battery technology still sucks lithium ion batteries are expensive to replace an hybrids are much more complicated.
My mothers 2012 fusion has the first gen 2.0EBT an she's at 160k an still runs like a champ (the electrical is another story lol) the engine tho is rock solid. So for me the 2.0t is the only real way to go.
Never buy a hybrid or electric just expensive problems.
Not really the case but OK well 🙄
say it to prius 2006 whit 360000 miles)))
