It's not the job of the committee to predict who the "best" teams are going to be in the playoff. SMU was 11-1, BYU was 10-2. The CC game was an extra game, SMU was rightfully NOT punished for losing it. They made the correct choice. Now, considering Miami over BYU, even without the benefit of hindsight, was nonsense at the time.
If BYU only lost was ASU then maybe that would matter but the reason BYU didn’t get in is because BYU lost twice when they needed to win one of those games.
@@shortsallyear8602 I’m in agreement that BYU should have won those two games. But the SMU over BYU argument doesn’t make much sense to me considering the head to head win
@ But BYU lost more games. It is what it is. If byu lost one game and then lost the Big12 championship then they can complain. And BYU should be in over SMU but it didn’t happen sadly.
Yea that Spencer guy is confused on "better" and "deserving" definitions, and applicability to selection criteria. "Better" is determined ON THE FIELD, including wins and losses, strength of competition, etc. NOT the program's history, recruiting rankings, logo on their helmet, or conference they play in per se. No need to differentiate. And then the Arizona State guy with the beard was wrong when he said he understood the "disrespectful" spreads against the bluebloods. Thats exactly what Im talking about. Granting a program preferential treatment because of their logo is entitlement. Unfair entitlement.
You can't complain about the playoff committee for not including BYU without also complaining about the Big 12 championship committee. What was the criteria the big 12 use to choose Iowa St. for the championship? That's where BYU was snubbed. You can't complain about the playoff committee if your own conference discredits your schedule and wins.

Each season college football ends with a playoff, at least one college team will suffer an injustice. Which team gets bale-hooked off the flat depends upon your point of view. And perhaps some less hyperbolic and more measured assessment would help. For example, the SEC has not fallen so low that the local community college team could beat them. Or has the Mountain West risen so high that their athletic directors would swap their schedule, the teams they play, for a schedule any SEC team plays. Fortunes change in NCAAF, but not quite as drastically, conference to conference, as we might think. But still, it’s good fun to argue-that, the playoff system has not ended, nor will it ever😂😂😂
Folks quit lamenting that BYU should have been in the CFP. It is what it is. I like BYU. I agree they fell short. If not for their 2 losses, they were strong enough to contend in the CFP. Sadly, the parameters fairly excluded BYU. However, I also know that BYU's (and Boise State's) history of being in the MW has hurt its CFB ranking.
Spencer has always not liked BYU which is fine. He did get “on the train” (see past videos) when they were winning and undefeated. Point is, everyone is biased and he has good takes regardless. I know where he stands with BYU and that’s ok.
The teams that are competitive in the future,... In transfer portal?/ Highschool ranks/ &. Aer going to have positive results! Because of the culture of the teams invested!!
I think Rogers is an excellent choice. Sort of like Dickert on steroids. The problem has been Arbuckle. He does well with excellent qb talent until other schools find where to compensate. I'm one of the only people out there who sees the Okahoma moves through crimson colored glasses.
I don't blame this on the playoff committee as much as the conferences so big that the top teams don't play everyone in the conference so therefore there's likely to be ties. Look at the pickle the SEC could have been in if bama and Ole Miss hadn't picked up 3rd losses and if aTm had beaten Texas where you could have had Georgia, Texas, Alabama, Ole Miss, Tennessee and aTm all tied at 2 conference losses I think divisionless conferences should be capped at 10 with a 9 game conference schedule or 9 with a 8 game conference schedule . Also the SEC literally requires in it's bylaws it's members to play a P4 non conference game, so it's not like you can play 4 G5 or fcs teams. While not everyone has a locked rivalry everyone plays at least one ACC, B1G, Big XII, or Notre Dame opponent. Now people who don't have a locked rivalry have sometimes known to get a bottom feeder from a power conference like Oklahoma playing Houston or Ole Miss playing Wake Forest but many of them scheduled someone who was at least supposed to be good at the time they was scheduled like Texas scheduling last year's champion Michigan, Bama scheduled Wisconsin who was a contender for the B1G a few years ago when it was scheduled.

Texas does have unlimited money but obviously they're not winning titles each year. It would be interesting to see the minimal amount of money that the poorest blue blood has. Because that amount and not the amount available to Texas is the minimum required.
Big12 hurts the Big12. On a big stage, the conference is nonexistent. Any number of explanations were offered about TCU, but they were not on the same universe as a top tier program. ACC is the same . All that about the Seminoles, but at full strength , top of game , 3 scores or more losses. They were spared. BYU beat SMU, and no one cared because nobody wants to see either one. And that's their good win.? Toll is a Tool

@@spencerroth9795 and BYU had two losses and one to a 5-7 Kansas

Spencer has always been a BYU hater. Nothing has changed since losing his job as the locked on PAC12 host.
Pretty sure he was the original locked on Big 12 host...
@davidwelker6499 So he was relegated twice, got it.
He put that **** away.
I was not

As a BYU fan I don’t think BYU deserves to be included. That said I think BYU should have been of been ranked higher than 17.
That is a fair take to me

Did Kris Hutson move to the NFL, or xfer? I didn't see him in the bowl game. It made me wonder.
They didn’t even make the big 12 championship. Drake toll is just a TT homer big 12 sunshine pumper.

Yeah ugh. Yeah they should have made it. Ugh
Both Boise State and SMU were overrated.
BYU played by the same rules as everyone else. Stop bitching for hell sake
Lol, lmao😂
The one thing the Big 12 can control is the tie breaker, I think it can be improved and updated.
BYU didn’t desire to be in playoffs. Colorado is average at best
