Hey Mark, I had one of those mounts in my first car. There is noting missing there. The piece on the top with the holes mounts to your dash. The two pieces just slide apart. It is sort of a dovetail fit. Looking forward to more of the Trans-Am!
mark the slider is allready on the cb bracket just squeeze the 2 lugs on top rear of the bracket and then slide forward then you will have 2 halves and that is the part that stays in the truck kind regards from the uk
Darron and Mopar are correct. All you need is the key for the locking mechanism. However the connections were doggie dewdew even when they were new. Especially the coaxial terminals.
Hey Mark, the Trans Ams came with two different style t-tops. The movie car had Hurst t-tops and yours has the Fisher or GM style, which look better. The Hurst ones had a wide gap in the middle. Ames Performance and NPD are good places to look for restoration parts.
Like you, I am truly blessed to live in a time and place to be able to accumulate enough stuff (projects and what nots) to run out of room to work on it. Keep up the good work. 😂 29:24
You can probably get that signature authenticated via a third party. If I recall, there are several services who can tell you if it's his signature or not after examining it. They can grade it's quality and tell you how to further preserve it, which real or not, I would want to find a way to protect and preserve it as its a cool thing to have in the car itself.

My cousin drives an 8 wheel tipper here in the UK,being a short arse he can't see down the nearside/left.All the trucks where he works had n/s mounted cameras and a little lcd display but being tipper drivers,all the cameras have long been smashed off,replaced and smashed off again😊. So I fitted a pair of flush fitting parking sensors with a digital display that has lights and a readout of distance using an £10 ebay kit,I just used two of the four sensors in the kit and fitted one each into the top outer edge of the wheel arch above both steering axles,he assured me it works a treat. His boss saw them and must have agreed because he's since got their fitter to put them on all his tippers.
After Smokey and the Bandit came out, my mother in law was one of the thousands who bought a Trans Am at Mangino Buick Pontiac GMC of Ballston Spa, NY. I’m glad to see you working on it! I’ve been running a dash cam for a few years now. Mine is older with a SD card. My sister in law is retired from the State Farm Insurance Fraud Unit. With the staged rear end accidents, a dash cam could save you from someone braking checking for a fraudulent insurance claim.

Always LOVE your videos & knowledge! I completely forgot about that CB radio mount. My father had two of those mounts. One in his van & the other in my moms car. He figured buying the 2nd bracket was cheaper then buying a 2nd CB... Trans Am is going to be a cool project & looks cool for now with the Vette alloys.

They make interior dye kits it comes with cleaner prep spray and then the color I would go that route will give you the best results because the prep spray softens the plastics so the die gets a bite into it so it's not easily scratched off

I have been a follower since you started the Pete . i was a lot like you but my love was Army 6x6's and restored a couple. but just before the those I also had a Pete myself . 1962 351 narrow nose. I was going to make the Duel tractor with it. it had a naturally aspirated cummins with a 5 and a 4 twin but it was a 2 axle. i ended up getting a 77 International 4270 C/O 3 axle with a fresh big cam 350 whole truck for free (uncle inlaw). I was going to transplant the 350 into the Pete and use the drivers to convert to a three axle. now mind you when you started working in the open air over gravel was how I was doing all this. lol watching you brought back memories. at the time of all this I was a Peterbilt mechanic. I never finished the project someone heard I had the 351 and made me an offer for it and the 4270 that I could not refuse. fast forward to today I get to armchair watching others have all the fun. I am too busted up to do almost any work on vehicles. anyway the reason I am writing is the slide mount you have on the C/B is complete the upper half is there. next time you monkey with it. push the 2 buttons and slide the upper half towards the back of the C/B. you may need to tap it a bit might be stuck. it most likely has a keyhole between the buttons it uses a standard luggage lock key to work the lock. keep on truckin. You can always move the lift with a car on it. Obviously the only way the dolly’s work is when the lift is in the down position. It takes two people but it moves very easily. We have done it a bunch of times.that way when you work on it it can be spun in the same spot the truck was and then spin it back when you put the truck back in.

A friend of mine has the exact same 4 post car lift that you do. You are correct that you have to take those Dolly caster wheels off to lower it all the way to be able to drive a vehicle on but once the vehicle is on you can raise it up reinstall those caster wheels and then lower the vehicle down and swivel and spin that 4 post car lift with a car onit any direction you want. So you could have actually just turned that 4 post lift in line with the garage door and pulled your car on and then once your car was on it raise it up install the for caster Dolly Wheels lower the car back down and you could have then just rotated and maneuvered your four-post lift any direction you wanted
If I were you mark I'd look into some vinyl paint that you can change the color of that interior to black of course seats are going to be a different thing and seat belts as well I freshened up the paint on a dash and a few things on one of my gravel trucks and it really worked out good
Mark, for that CB, that’s a “Slide mount”. My mom and dad both had slide mount CB’s in their vehicles. Fast forward to when I started driving tractor trailers, the first tractor-trailer I ever drove had a slide mount CB in it. 85 Kenworth W 900 with a 23 channel cobra. The original CB that was put in our truck when it was brand new. I drove it in 1996-7-8.
I believe you have the whole quick release bracket, the top part of the bracket with the wholes in it comes out and it is the part that you screw into position and the the radio slides in on it!
I used Plastikote paint to change the color of my 1978 F250 from blue to back. I used it on just about every piece of trim , after I the interior completely out and had it in pieces of coarse. I also covered the headliner in shortcut black velour. It turned out VERY VERY NICE!!👍
A set of GoJak Dollies (or similar) would make getting that TA straight to go onto the lift. A friend of mine has a set of GoJaks and we used them to spin around a Yukon that had lost reverse.
The sem interior dye stuff works really well. I dyed a few pieces camel tan for my 80 t/an and it covered nice, prep is key with it tho. Trans am door panels are hard to come by they do make repop ones but they’re pricey as hell.

Those slide mounts for CB's were pretty popular back in the day here in metro Detroit. I remember some even had key locks on them. I used to buy metal and plastic mounts at Radio Shack and K Mart. Once you get the car on the lift, you can put the rollers back on and roll the lift wherever you want, with the car on the lift. I’ve done it many times. As long as the floor is clean of rocks, nuts, and bolts. Need a smoothie surface

Hey Mark , nice set up you have . Just a little note , the SEM dye spray paint works great for redying, or refurbishing interior trim. No need to get a new interior as long as you do the right prep… Love your channel, and can’t wait to see the finished products. From neighbouring BC 😂
Glad you figured out how to fit everything in the shop. You were never going to shoe horn that truck in the house gerage (phonic Canadian spelling). I said that on a previous episode. Anyway, I also was yelling, as folks commenting before me have told you, just squeeze the two buttons. Everything is there!!!! lol

I have a brand new and UNUSED classic industries carpet and seat upholstery kit in black and a few other bits of brand new stuff here that l bought years ago for my '74 firebird that l never managed to complete. Really feel down in the dumps at the moment cos l just had to sell my Camaro. Feeling really dark inside right now. I think I'd leave the red interior in it but change it up, use your black dash, black console and a fresh black carpet with the black and gold paint, would look sharp. As far as the autograph, I'd take a really good pic of it dead straight and have someone make a decal in the sise ya want it, put that decal on a piece of polished brass plate then use a jewlers saw to cut the autograph out, then put the brass autograph on the restored console in the same place.
There should be no reason you can't dye a lot of the existing interior pieces, get a dedicated interior or vinyl dye, clean the pieces thoroughly with dish soap, trisodium phosphate powder (tsp) and it should be ready for adhesion promoter and then dye. Dig everything you're doing, keep up the great work!!!
Hi have been watching your UA-cam for some time in the UK try to catch it each week it great viewing did you know that the cb you have for the firebird is complete the side mount is all there you just need the small key to unlock the bit with the holes in to side it off the cb this part bolt to the car, keep doing what your doing aways want a firebird difficult to find good one in the UK.
The CB quick release you have is complete the top section is the slider the to tabs at the front on the top plate squeeze in and then you slide the bottom part from the top
As far as redying that red interior, that is possible. If the panels are in good shape, just spray them with upholstery dye. Do your research on it and get good quality dye preferably from a paint supply store and not Walmart. If you go the Walmart route and use cheap materials, it will crack and flake off after a short period of time.
Please do not put incorrect seats in it. I have seen it done many times and they always look out of place. I am a big fan of your channel and look forward to each new episode.

Once you get the car on the lift, you can put the rollers back on and roll the lift wherever you want, with the car on the lift. I’ve done it many times. As long as the floor is clean of rocks, nuts, and bolts. Need a smoothie surface

Here's an idea since you have access to an awesome welder ;) Put an i-beam all the way across the shop. That would save some time moving the large red gantry. Just my 5 cents :)

Hey Mark , nice set up you have . Just a little note , the SEM dye spray paint works great for redying, or refurbishing interior trim. No need to get a new interior as long as you do the right prep… Love your channel, and can’t wait to see the finished products. From neighbouring BC 😂
Glad you figured out how to fit everything in the shop. You were never going to shoe horn that truck in the house gerage (phonic Canadian spelling). I said that on a previous episode. Anyway, I also was yelling, as folks commenting before me have told you, just squeeze the two buttons. Everything is there!!!! lol
The interior paint normally is SEM Landau Black .SEM Trim black is mainly used for the window reveal trim
You need racking along the wall for storage or maybe store stuff in Bandit trailer to give you more room to walk about
I agree with jessevarrel, put all the parts for the Duke in the trailer. No chance of damage to your pipes,fenders,daycab interior. Gives you a lot more room to work!

I have a brand new and UNUSED classic industries carpet and seat upholstery kit in black and a few other bits of brand new stuff here that l bought years ago for my '74 firebird that l never managed to complete.
Really feel down in the dumps at the moment cos l just had to sell my Camaro.

I think I'd leave the red interior in it but change it up, use your black dash, black console and a fresh black carpet with the black and gold paint, would look sharp. As far as the autograph, I'd take a really good pic of it dead straight and have someone make a decal in the sise ya want it, put that decal on a piece of polished brass plate then use a jewlers saw to cut the autograph out, then put the brass autograph on the restored console in the same place.
Mark that CB bracket is complete, you have both parts in your hand.

There should be no reason you can't dye a lot of the existing interior pieces, get a dedicated interior or vinyl dye, clean the pieces thoroughly with dish soap, trisodium phosphate powder (tsp) and it should be ready for adhesion promoter and then dye. Dig everything you're doing, keep up the great work!!!
The mount that you have on the CB is the complete mount. Disconnect the top piece and mount that where you would like to place the CB.

I grew up around trans am like that, one thing I learned for sure is that you always have to walk away for a while after first starting them 😂
Hi have been watching your UA-cam for some time in the UK try to catch it each week it great viewing did you know that the cb you have for the firebird is complete the side mount is all there you just need the small key to unlock the bit with the holes in to side it off the cb this part bolt to the car, keep doing what your doing aways want a firebird difficult to find good one in the UK.

As far as redying that red interior, that is possible. If the panels are in good shape, just spray them with upholstery dye. Do your research on it and get good quality dye preferably from a paint supply store and not Walmart. If you go the Walmart route and use cheap materials, it will crack and flake off after a short period of time.

Zip Corvette sells a very good interior dye by the quart and of course black was available so it should work well
